Chapter 6 - Rising Stock
Chapter 6 – Rising Stock
‘Should I place the desk here, young master?’
‘Yes, please.’
After the first successor test ended, Porto gifted me the room that Felix had been using.
-You deserve it.
The small room I had been using wasn’t bad either.
-Let’s move your belongings first.
At Dalfi’s enthusiastic recommendation, I was currently in the middle of moving.
The reason, as I heard it, was that she found the shared quarters used by the staff uncomfortable and wanted to use the small room where I had been living.
Well, Dalfi always worked hard?
It wasn’t illegal to give my room to a maid?
And Dalfi didn’t particularly get along with the other staff?
So I just gave it to her.
Dalfi’s expression was much brighter than usual.
‘Heave-ho…’
‘If you lift like that, you’ll hurt your back. Use proper technique.’
‘Having grown up as a precious young master, I’m really not used to physical labor.’
‘You should train now so you can satisfy the lady who will become your partner later.’
Dalfi set down a wardrobe and bed that were three times her size with a thud- simultaneously.
Unlike me who was dripping with sweat, her expression remained calm.
‘Isn’t it heavy?’
‘Nothing is heavy for me. If I put my mind to it, I could lift this entire mansion.’
I found it amazing every time I saw it.
How could such strength come from such a slender, small body?
She had tremendous physical strength, easily able to bench press 50 tons for 3 reps.
Honestly, I thought she was stronger than Ian, the knight who taught swordsmanship to me and Sister Haniel.
‘Suddenly using all this strength makes me want to eat meat.’
‘Eh.’
‘Should we go hunting in the forest today?’
‘No way.’
Dalfi was incredibly tough too.
She was a powerhouse who could easily defeat monsters larger than bears with her bare hands.
Though she wasn’t particularly bright.
‘Incredibly strong because she’s incredibly simple.’
That was my assessment of Dalfi.
There probably wasn’t anyone in this mansion who could defeat Dalfi in a one-on-one fight.
For that reason, I declined Porto’s offer of Felix’s servants that came with the room.
I had no intention of mingling with more people than necessary, and Dalfi alone was sufficient for protection and service.
It was also my principle to keep only trustworthy people by my side.
‘She really is a gorilla…’
I was momentarily stunned watching Dalfi carry numerous luggage items with acrobatic skill.
‘♪~’
Anyway, thanks to Dalfi’s efforts, the move was completed in just 30 minutes.
‘It’s done. Good work!!’
Using muscles I haven’t used in a while, I’m dying from exhaustion.
‘I’ll move some things in my room.’
‘Need help?’
‘I’m fine. Please rest in your room. I’ll be back soon.’
And so I was left alone in the new room.
‘Felix, you lived in such a nice room and still had complaints about me?’
The room I had been using was originally a storage room.
Porto had cleared out the items and converted it into a room for me, a waste-tier, but it was a gloomy place with little sunlight, no different from the quarters where the servants stayed.
‘Now this looks more like a young master’s room.’
It was three times larger in size.
In my previous life, I once visited the home of a rich bachelor who lived alone in a 50-pyeong apartment, and the living room was exactly this size.
A chandelier on the ceiling, expensive decorations on the walls, and even well-painted masterpieces of unknown origin!
There was no need to move the original furniture, like the bed, wardrobe, or desk, but I preferred familiar things.
So I put in some effort.
‘And leaving everything as is would feel a bit…’
Honestly, when I imagine Felix suffering terribly on the battlefield, it feels a bit satisfying!
So I removed everything that might remind me of Felix. Hehe.
I lay down on the bed.
And called a familiar name.
‘Nob AI.’
“Did you call me?”
‘Can you tell me more about yourself?’
Nob AI is an artificial intelligence program I frequently used in my previous life.
It appeared before me after I became aware of my past life and was tremendously helpful during the succession test.
‘No matter how I think about it, it’s not an ordinary ability.’
To navigate this rough world going forward, I desperately needed AI’s help.
In my previous life, it was limited to simple Q&A or image generation, but now it seems capable of much more.
If only to avoid becoming a soldier like Felix!!
“My name is Nob AI. I’m an artificial intelligence program born from NobMaker. I provide various free benefits to users.”
‘What exactly are these various benefits?’
“The benefits I provide to users are as follows:”
“1. Information Provision: Based on the data I’ve learned, I can provide information that users want.”
“2. Automatic Protection Program: When in crisis, I can temporarily control the user’s body to overcome situations for safety and personal protection. Currently, ‘crisis’ is defined as when the ‘physical body’ is in danger of injury, and this can be customized by the user.”
“3. Expert: A service that handles complex tasks requiring specialized knowledge and skills on your behalf. Fields include magic, art, development, architecture, medicine, and many more. However, like the automatic protection program, I cannot perform tasks that exceed ‘user limitations’.”
“4. Learning: Nob AI also learns based on what the user sees, hears, and feels. This is the foundational function for all benefits currently provided.”
“5. Growth: When certain conditions are met, Nob AI grows!”
Each one is an extraordinary ability.
How did someone who was just an ordinary AI in a past life grow to be so remarkable?
If I had these abilities, could I have survived even the nuclear explosion fired by that old pig in the north?
‘Why did I reincarnate, and why did you appear before me in my reincarnated life?’
That was the question I was most curious about.
『I don’t know either. That’s information I can’t infer from the data I’ve learned.』
This was information even the AI didn’t know.
Well, honestly.
I didn’t have any lingering attachments to my past life.
It’s only been about two weeks since I became aware of my past life, but this felt different from a sudden possession.
It was more like reincarnation; even the past 15 years of life without memories were entirely mine.
Esther Tristida who was bullied by siblings was me, and Esther Tristida who is now fiddling with Nob AI is also me.
Time dulls emotions and gradually erases memories.
Besides the people I was close to in my past life, I couldn’t even remember the names of my former colleagues anymore.
Now, life in a mansion was more familiar than life in a studio apartment.
Rather, if Dalfi weren’t by my side, returning to the original world would feel even emptier than now.
I wanted to enjoy my current life.
『Do you have any other questions?』
‘No! This is enough for now…’
‘Young master, why are you talking to yourself?’
‘!!!’
Goodness. I thought my heart was going to drop.
Dalfi entered the room, dusting off his hands.
He had a sack slung over his shoulder, which I looked at curiously.
‘You’ve already moved everything?’
‘There wasn’t that much, so I finished in no time.’
That’s Dalfi for you.
Seeing how he handles everything on his own, I bet he could survive even if stranded on a deserted island.
‘By the way, young master.’
‘Yes?’
‘There are letters addressed to you.’
Dalfi poured the contents of the sack onto the floor with a cascade.
‘What, what is this, why are there so many!?’
‘There are at least hundreds of senders, so I didn’t memorize them all, but roughly speaking, they all contain messages about wanting to see you, young master.’
I picked up some of the countless letters that touched my feet.
『I am Erenus, a welterweight magician belonging to the Hwanseong School. I heard the news that you solved the Millennium Problem. I would like to meet the rising star of Tristida once…』
『Hello, Young Master Esther Tristida. I am operating the Golden Travel Group…』
Is this what a celebrity’s life is like?
What I thought was a simple succession test was actually the Millennium Problem that no one had solved for hundreds of years.
‘Wasn’t it splashed across the monthly magazine? This is only natural.’
Honestly, even yesterday, I didn’t feel it that much.
I knew that the gaze of my siblings, father, and servants had changed, but that was about it.
Seeing all these letters now makes it feel real.
I’ve become famous.
Unintentionally, that is.
‘Haaa……’
If I had known it would cause such a ripple effect, I would have asked Nob AI to release only about 50% of it.
‘Is there no way to turn back time?’
“There’s no such thing!”
Thanks for letting me know…….
‘Ugh, I need to organize this first.’
‘I will handle the organizing. I’ll classify them by nobility, magic tower, merchants, press, etc., so leave it to me. Young master has other matters to attend to.’
Huh?
‘Young Lord Jeffer is calling for you.’
‘My second brother?’
‘Yes. He says he has something to tell you personally.’
I blinked.
By everyone’s admission, among my siblings, he was known to be the quickest at calculations and best at handling situations.
If I were still the old Esther Tristida, I would have been intimidated, but now it was different.
‘Where is he?’
Whatever the reason.
Right now, I was one of the heirs who had most perfectly captivated Porto.
