Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Zoe Miller
"Howl!!"
Luke roared toward the sky, summoning the Demon Wolf Tribe.
The invasion of Silvercrest City was a conspiracy orchestrated by the Black Church; there was no point in continuing the slaughter.
"If I have time, I'd rather find a few lovely companions and start a family," he thought. "Once I grow stronger, I can destroy the Black Church and avenge those poor cubs I never met."
While Luke didn't have sound-based abilities, his voice was naturally loud.
But for the Demon Wolf Clan, his roar was an absolute command from a higher-level creature.
Under his howl, both the One-Eyed Demon Wolves and the Three-Eyed Demon Wolves stopped their actions and looked up at their leader on the roof.
They were puzzled, not understanding why Luke stopped them when everyone was enjoying their feast.
Isn't it problematic if you don't work hard? they thought.
But his authority eventually overpowered their instinct to feed, and they ceased their attacks.
In another part of Silvercrest City, beside a Three-Eyed Demon Wolf, three Giant-Eyed Rats ignored Luke's call and continued chasing two little girls.
Their leader wasn't Luke, and although his authority affected them, it wasn't absolute.
Clearly, the Giant-Eyed Rats' instinct to feed was stronger.
The Three-Eyed Demon Wolf growled in annoyance, realizing the Giant-Eyed Rats were ignoring him.
In a fit of rage, he bit into one of the Giant-Eyed Rats, his sharp claws piercing the other two one after another.
A general-level demon was devastating to slave-level demons, especially an enraged Three-Eyed Demon Wolf.
Similar scenes occurred elsewhere in Silvercrest City. Seeing this, the remaining Giant-Eyed Rats became more docile, hiding in corners and shivering.
Even the general-level Blood-Patterned Demon Rat, surrounded by several Bone-Spur Wolves, could only squeak a few times before dropping its prey.
Obediently, they stood next to the Demon Wolves.
It took about a minute for Silvercrest City to become completely quiet.
Luke looked at his wolf subordinates with satisfaction. It seemed the former Skywing Wolf's prestige wasn't bad.
This Demon Wolf Legion was well-trained.
"Howl!!"
Seeing this, Luke roared again.
The previous howl was to halt; this one was to retreat.
"Howl!!"
"Howl!!"
"Howl!!"
The howls echoed throughout Silvercrest City.
The general-level Demon Wolves led their underlings back through the tunnels from which they came, leaving the city.
Luke flapped his enormous wings, soaring into the sky and surveying the area.
The evacuation of the wolves wasn't the end but the beginning of Luke's real hunt.
According to the system, rewards would be given based on the partner's rating.
That likely meant a combination of appearance and talent.
Silvercrest City was small, but there were a few people who met the system's criteria.
"It's a pity the Ice Princess returned to the capital ahead of schedule," Luke mused. "If I could have her as a partner, the rewards would be substantial."
He shook his head. "I'll think about that later."
Aside from her, the remaining options were...
[Ding! A Pregnancy Target Detected]
[Name: Zoe Miller]
[Qualification: Medium]
[Form a bond to receive rewards]
"Zoe Miller?" Luke was surprised. He didn't expect a minor character from the original story to meet the system's requirements.
But thinking about it, in this magical world, being able to awaken magic was considered talented.
Reaching a high cultivation level made you one of the best in a city.
Moreover, Zoe was quite attractive.
Luke didn't hesitate anymore. His massive body leaned forward, diving straight toward the safe zone.
