Chapter 66
Edited by Squid
Shu Hanyu urgently rushed back. During the journey, he smelled something unusual and his heart couldn’t help tightening.
Once entering the cave, he perceived a strong bloody scent. Shu Hanyu’s heart seized and he frantically rushed to Shu Jintian. He saw Shu Jintian’s wringing hands covered in blood, the ghastly red, as Shu Jintian stared blankly at him as if terrified.
“Tiantian, are you okay? Why is your hand bleeding?” Shu Hanyu gathered Shu Jintian up in his embrace, clasping Shu Jintian’s hands in distress. His lips pressed against the blood trailing down, and his other hand continuously patted Shu Jintian’s back gently, wanting to comfort him.
But Shu Jintian couldn’t comprehend Shu Hanyu’s earnest thoughts at all. He just saw that it turned out to be the big snake ah. The little snakes were unexpectedly scared of their father. Even if Hanyu threw them away once before, they didn’t have to scatter like they had seen their predators, right?
“Turns out to be you ah! I just accidentally hurt my hand.” Shu Jintian just felt amused. They were all a family, so why did the little snakes have to act like they were having a guerrilla war? Even if they hurt him, they didn’t have to run so dramatically ba.
Shu Hanyu’s eyes turned cold and he lifted his head, his bloodied lips dangerous and seductive.
“The little snakes came? Were they the ones who hurt you?” Shu Hanyu’s voice was like ice as he spat out his forked tongue. The little snakes’ scent covered the cave, and was especially strong on the bed. Shu Hanyu’s face instantly turned even more wondrous. The white revealing black, and the black suffused with green. Paired with his bloodstained lips, it seemed especially strange.
“Eh? Hanyu, don’t make such an expression ah. It looks weird and scary; no wonder they’re so scared of you. They ran off once they noticed you.” Shu Jintian immediately saw Shu Hanyu’s abruptly cold face and couldn’t help feeling nervous.
Shu Jintian’s wound wasn’t large, with only two bite marks that were driven in deeply. The blood flow was so serious because it was near an artery.
Shu Hanyu coldly snorted, lowering his head to continue licking the wound on Shu Jintian’s hand. If it was just bursting into his cave without permission, then forget it, yet they actually dare to bite his Tiantian. They simply couldn’t be forgiven for such crimes. It was best they don’t run into him, otherwise next time he might toss them right into the blue water.
Shu Hanyu had lowered his head and Shu Jintian couldn’t see his expression. He could only look at a head of supple, dark green hair that was casually draped loosely. It appeared especially soft, and paired with the position of his lowered head, it gave an illusion of harmlessness.
Shu Jintian felt a slight sway of his mind and then suddenly startled awake. Hearing Shu Hanyu’s tone, he was definitely mad.
“Hanyu? I’m fine. It was just a bit of bleeding. Men ah, would be cooler if they have some scars.” Shu Jintian said teasingly.
The place licked by his forked tongue felt slightly cool, and even the pain seemed licked away. Shu Jintian’s heart had a strange sweetness and his face couldn’t help warming. He twisted his hand in unease, but wasn’t able to free himself.
“Huh? Throw them out ah? Throw out our children?” Shu Jintian was stunned for awhile before he realised he did not mishear. He fell quiet for a moment.
Ever since the little snakes were discarded by Hanyu, it was equivalent to them separating as family ba. Then the little snakes coming to their home was equivalent to invading and occupying the big snake’s territory, so they should be thrown out?
Shu Jintian thought this way, but was unable to approve of Shu Hanyu’s methods at all.
“But no matter what, they’re still our children ah. Not living together, but coming to visit as relatives is still fine ba.” Shu Jintian was a little unhappy. Although he understood that the big snake’s method was what was considered normal to their Spiritual Snake race.
“No. If they dare enter again, I will bite them to death,” Shu Hanyu seriously said, as if the little snakes that had grown up were nothing more than ordinary Spiritual Snakes in his eyes. He might be gratified when seeing them outside, then ignore them. But if he realised they appeared within his territory, then that would be a provocation to him; he definitely would not be lenient. Allowing the little snakes to live in his territory was already his biggest concession, yet now the little snakes dared to go a mile after getting an inch, coming to their cave and even hurting Shu Jintian. Did they want to chase them away and occupy the cave?
Thinking up till here, Shu Hanyu’s eyes grew ice-cold. If they were not his progeny, he would have long rushed out to deal with them.
“You dare! If you want to bite them to death, then bite me to death first!” Shu Jintian was stunned by Shu Hanyu’s words and then snarled at Shu Hanyu.
“As long as they don’t come in, I won’t bite them.” Shu Hanyu humphed, feeling wronged. Clearly it was the little snakes’ wrong, yet Tiantian was being fierce to him.
Seeing Shu Hanyu’s attitude softening, Shu Jintian’s anger also lessened a little and he quietly said, “Even if they come in, you can’t bite them. At worst, you should just chase them away.”
Shu Hanyu coldly snorted, refusing to clarify his opinion.
Shu Jintian secretly held a heart of bitter tears. The middle man truly wasn’t an easy life. The little ones still hadn’t managed to come back ne, when the big one was already being difficult. Little snakes, you’ll be happier if you're on your own ba. Dad will do his best to support you in spirit.
This matter was thus brought to an end. Shu Jintian ate lunch and then spread leaves on the ground, and poured out the rice in the jar. The grains were stuffed in the jar for a while and had already become hot. Shu Jintian poured out the grain, then evenly spread them to dry under the sun.
After drying the rice, Shu Jintian fired a new pottery vat. When night fell, the partially dried grains were returned to the pot, and the overall weight had shrunk from water evaporation. What had been a full pot had lost a single layer.
The next day, Shu Jintian dried the rice and then followed Shu Hanyu together to gather more. But due to his wrist being injured, Shu Jintian did not pick rice stalks and was only responsible with drying thestalks and beating out the grains.
Upon returning to their cave, Shu Jintian still rested inside while Shu Hanyu went out to look for the food. The three little snakes slithered to Shu Jintian’s bedside white biting on food again.
Shu Jintian was precisely worried that they would come, and was afraid they would be taught a lesson by Shu Hanyu. Now that he saw them, he lifted their tails and dragged them out, afraid of their scents being left in the cave.
“Don’t come in any more, your big snake dad is still in a temper ne! Wait for me to convince him before you guys come in again ba!” Shu Jintian pulled the little snakes outside and he himself crawled out. As long as the little snakes didn’t enter the cave, Hanyu probably wouldn’t be so angry ba.
The little snakes hadn’t been able to react when they were lifted by their tails and dragged out of the cave; even the food was still held in their mouths. But by the time they came back to their senses, the food in the little snakes’ mouths fell with a ‘thump thump thump’ as they revealed large aggrieved eyes, looking at Shu Jintian pitifully and acting as if they were about to bawl.
Even female father doesn’t want them anymore, how exhausting, it feels like we can no longer love any more. Wuwuwu…
“Eh, don’t look at me like this ah
. I’m just scared you’ll be bitten by big snake dad. Be good la~” Shu Jintian looked at the little snakes’ expression and felt really amused. What sensitive children!Really? The little snakes’ watery eyes stared right at Shu Jintian, then they finally rubbed against Shu Jintian’s hand probingly before carefully looking at their female father.
Female father was looking at them with a smile, and he did not take away his hand, conversely even stroking them. The little snakes spat out their tongues and hissed, and their throats even produced sounds akin to choking sobs as they energetically rubbed against Shu Jintian.
Wuwu… Scared us to death, we even thought female father didn’t want us anymore.
“Hehehe… be good~” Shu Jintian couldn’t help laughing. They truly had a child’s mind. Everything was written on their face. Too cute, they’re simply identical to a human child, okay?!
The little snakes were going crazy from happiness, and it was like they wanted to vent all their previous wronged feelings onto Shu Jintian’s body as they crazily twisted around Shu Jintian.
Suddenly, one little snake stopped twisting and vigilantly spat out its forked tongue. Upon noticing the lead snake’s movements, the other two snakes also spat out their tongues with a hiss and cautiously glanced everywhere.
“Is big snake dad back? Then you guys should quickly leave ba. He’s still angry now, so you guys should avoid him and wait for his anger to disappear. Also, take the food away, don’t let him find it,” Shu Jintian urged and shoved the food to the little snakes’ mouth. Seeing that they did not want it, he said, “I can’t eat even if you leave it behind. Your big snake dad won’t let me eat it, so you guys should still take it. Don’t waste them.”
Only then did the little snakes bite the food they had brought. Smelling the dangerous smell getting closer, their bodies shot out like a bullet and they flew far off with a whoosh.
The little snakes’ departure brought a gust of wind that brushed Shu Jintian’s face. Shu Jintian stared speechlessly.
“Uh… they really did run fast.” Shu Jintian kept looking at the little snakes until their figures were concealed in green. Getting up and patting off the dust on him, Shu Hanyu’s snake figure wasn’t that far already, and he was rapidly rushing over.
Shu Hanyu returned with the fastest speed, and only sighed in relief when seeing Shu Jintian was fine.
“They didn’t bite you, right?” Shu Hanyu was like a bird startled by the mere twang of a bow, picking Shu Jintian up and then tossing and turning him around to examine Shu Jintian’s body.
“Eh? Let me go, I’m fine.” Shu Jintian was stupefied by Shu Hanyu’s actions, and took a good while to understand that Shu Hanyu was worried that the little snakes would bully him. Black lines instantly covered his head.
Ai~ we were still found out. Clearly I didn’t let Shu Hanyu see any signs of the little snakes ah!
“I’m really fine. The little snakes won’t bite me; I already said it was an accident last time.” Shu Jintian wrapped his arms around Shu Hanyu’s neck to steady himself and rolled his eyes at Shu Hanyu.
“Hmph, that’s just you not understanding them. This time they ran quickly, but I’ll definitely catch them next time and teach them a good lesson. But if it wasn’t because I was worried about you, they wouldn’t be able to escape. Shu Hanyu’s arms hugging Shu Jintian tightened and his entanglement towards the little snakes grew even more aggravating.
Shu Jintian instantly felt weak, darkly thinking that being a middle man was hard.
“They’re really well-behaved, they won’t hurt me.” Shu Jintian helped speak up for the little snakes, but unexpectedly Shu Hanyu’s face suddenly grew even darker. This snake… wasn’t eating vinegar again right?! -_-|||
Bite them to death, I must bite them to death. This was Shu Hanyu’s only thought right now. Tiantian’s heart was already biased towards them.
Shu Jintian was dripping with sweat. Little snakes, you guys should run away first ba!
The next day, Shu Jintian and Shu Hanyu went to gather rice. Shu Hanyu went out to look for ingredients, and Shu Jintian intentionally asked for some food that wasn’t easy to find, then waited for the little snakes outside the cave.
Sure enough, not long after Shu Hanyu left, the little snakes arrived punctually. Moreover, as if having experience now, the time was chosen just right.
