Chapter 49: Truth of Pregnancy
“Tiantian!” Shu Hanyu was stunned and hastily hugged Shu Jintian tight. Seeing that Shu Jintian was breathing evenly, he then sighed in relief.
Tiantian must be exhausted to death; he didn’t even get to see their eggs clearly before he fell asleep.
Shu Hanyu tenderly cleaned up Shu Jintian’s rear and carefully put him in bed, tucking him into the blanket before sitting down to rest.
Shu Hanyu quietly looked at the female sleeping from exhaustion, his thin, light pink lips curving into a faint arc. Since Tiantian had been in labour for so long, he would definitely be hungry once he awakens; he should find something for him to eat ba!
Shu Hanyu placed the nest of eggs by Shu Jintian’s side, then lowered his head to kiss Shu Jintian’s slightly parted lips. He licked at it before softly saying against the faintly breathing female’s warm lips, “I’m going out for a moment. I’ll be back soon, so Tiantian, just wait for me.”
In the bed, under the illumination from the night pearl, the purple light appeared peaceful. Shu Hanyu disliked seeing it, and in passing, grabbed it and brought it along with him. Then, suddenly worried that the female would wake up alone without being able to see a thing, and feel uneasy if unable to see him either, Shu Hanyu’s footsteps paused. He went back inside the bed and placed the adult fist-sized night pearl next to their eggies. Only then did Shu Hanyu, who was still slightly anxious, turn into a Spiritual Snake and glide out of the cave.
In a nest of massive white eggs, a purple ball of light that was a lot smaller than the eggs was exceptionally conspicuous. The shining white eggs were shrouded in the purple light, and also presented a faint purple lustre.
Shu Jintian was dreaming of himself and Shu Hanyu having a nest of snake babies. Shu Hanyu tenderly fed meat to each slender little snake, and even called him to come help feed them.
Shu Jintian was immediately startled awake, and even felt some lingering fear when he woke up. It took a while before he realised it was just a dream and he couldn’t help letting out a long sigh, relaxing his nerves. How absurd to have such a dream!
The breath Shu Jintian had just let out had not been retrieved when the peculiarity in his body abruptly made Shu Jintian stiffen.
Shu Jintian’s rear had a faint throbbing pain, making it hard to ignore. This wasn’t the main point; most importantly, what’s up with his stomach? Didn’t it become bigger? Or was his nightmare actually just about his stomach growing?
Shu Jintian touched his flattened stomach as some ridiculous memories slowly returned, flickering around his mind. Shu Jintian’s body stiffened and he suddenly jerked up.
“Wu~! It hurts!” Shu Jintian suddenly sat up, which pressed on his swollen back entrance, and his face immediately scrunched up.
Shu Jintian had messed up the blankets; unable to care for the pain in his abdomen, he lifted the thick-furred animal hide quilt and examined his body.
His stomach that had been heavily bulging yesterday had completely flattened. It wasn’t flat and tight like before, and instead became soft and loose. Shu Jintian was dumbstruck and pinched his stomach in a dishevelled manner. The flabby sensation was all tender and soft; Shu Jintian felt as if his brain had just about become similar to this softness, having turned into mush.
Shu Jintian’s mind was in a disarray and he nervously looked around his bed all of a sudden. Just then, the large nest of big, white and purplish eggs obnoxiously appeared before Shu Jintian’s vision. With the illumination of the night pearl nearby, it was especially eye-catching.
Shu Jintian touched the eggs dully, then stretched his body after a while. He felt a little sore around the waist, and simply laid on his stomach and earnestly studied the white eggs.
The sticky white liquid had already dried, and formed a satiny and transparent layer of protective membrane on the snake eggs’ surface; it felt very nice.
Shu Jintian forgot himself as he studied them, and foolishly parted his lips. Suddenly feeling a little ticklish at the corner of his lips, Shu Jintian wiped it with the back of his hand to discover that he had numbly drooled a little with his open mouth.
Was this for real? These eggs… he laid them? Shu Jintian thought it must be that he had not woken up from his dream yet! Unresigned, he forcefully bit his arm, and a stinging pain immediately spread through it. Whereas the nest of eggs before him were still laying there peacefully.
What in the world was going on here? He was a man ah! Why would he lay Shu Hanyu’s eggs? It turned out that he wasn’t sick but legitimately pregnant?
Although he would occasionally fantasise that he hadn’t become ill and had genuinely been impregnated by the big snake, Shu Jintian still felt a sense of disbelief, as if he was still dreaming, despite reality proving otherwise.
These were his and the big snake’s eggs? Such a large nest looked terrifying. Shu Jintian counted the eggs, his mind in a mess. He had to count a few times before he got the exact number of eleven.
Did snake eggs have to be incubated? Shu Jintian’s rusty brain moved stiffly, then he slowly crawled to the snake eggs. He stooped weakly over them, using his chest to warm the whole nest of eggs.
Shu Hanyu wanted to help Shu Jintian supplement his health and find the bird eggs that the female liked, and just so happened to find a nest of Blazing Birds. However, the eggs in this nest had already hatched, so Shu Hanyu only caught a large Blazing Bird.
He recalled that the female liked eating this bird, even when it was nonchalantly roasted. It was unfortunate that there were no eggs, but luckily, Tiantian also liked eating Blazing Birds.
When Shu Hanyu returned to the cave, seeing that the female was still asleep, he lovingly stroked Shu Jintian’s soft, black hair, then went out to prepare food.
Considering Shu Jintian had just given birth and passed out from exhaustion, he didn’t know what time he would wake up. In order for the female to be able to eat warm food when he woke up, Shu Hanyu chose to cook soup.
But feathers weren’t easy to pluck; Shu Hanyu spent a lot of effort yet still could not pick them clean. Shu Jintian was so picky, and definitely would not eat food that had feathers, so Shu Hanyu simply tore away the skin, then dumped the entire Blazing Bird into the pot to boil.
Though Shu Hanyu did not cook often, having seen Shu Jintian do it so frequently, he had learned bits and pieces. According to Shu Jintian’s preferences, he added some spices like Sichuan pepper into the pot. However, he did not add any white sand because Shu Hanyu still remembered how the female secretly spat out a lot when he ate the food Shu Hanyu first made. At that time, he felt distressed for the female and did not expose him, even helping him tidy up the aftermath on the ground. Later, when he observed, he realised that the female only put in very little of the white sand. But the white sand melted upon heat, so Shu Hanyu had no idea how much he should add. To avoid adding too much again, Shu Hanyu decided to wait for Shu Jintian to wake up and add it himself.
The soup in the pot kept boiling until the bird’s bones had turned soft. Shu Hanyu took the large chopsticks the female made and stirred it. Feeling that it had become very well-cooked, he added some firewood and put down the chopsticks.
Had Shu Jintian woken up yet? He must be very hungry; so it would be just about time for the food to be ready when he awakened.
As Shu Hanyu thought about it, a faint smile unconsciously appeared on his lips. Shu Hanyu lifted the draping animal skin curtains and saw a silky black head pasted on the bed, tangling into the soft animal hide. The female’s expression was blank and innocent, his eyelids slightly lowered and his eyes dull; who knew what he was thinking about.
Shu Hanyu sat down with a smile, gently saying, “Tiantian, what are you thinking about?”
Shu Jintian jumped in surprise and was awakened with a start. Seeing that Shu Hanyu had just returned, he anxiously sat up.
“What’s going on? These eggs…?” Shu Jintian clearly had the memory of laying eggs, but couldn’t quite believe it no matter what. He thought of asking Shu Hanyu, yet couldn’t quite say it aloud, so he was stuck like this.
Shu Hanyu smiled before saying, “Tiantian doesn’t have to be so impatient; you’re hungry, right? Eat something first, the eggs will slowly hatch later.”
“Did I really birth these? Why can I give birth? I’m a male ah
?!” The strained nerve in Shu Jintian’s mind snapped when hearing Shu Hanyu’s words and he lost control as he shouted at Shu Hanyu. But in fact, Shu Jintian had already a faint feeling that this was true. However, this matter was really too ridiculous, and Shu Jintian needed an explanation that would convince him.
Shu Hanyu tilted his head in confusion, saying, “Tiantian doesn’t even know this? As long as we do that, eggs will be made ah!”
“But the key point is that I’m a male ah! Why am I able to lay eggs?” Shu Jintian’s tone of voice was a little rushed as he grasped Shu Hanyu’s cool arm tightly as if it was the final straw a drowning person had grabbed onto.
This world was even more horrific than he had imagined. Who knew what other matters he would encounter in the future that would overturn his knowledge? Then again, when he thought about it, there probably would be nothing that would shock him more than him laying eggs.
Shu Hanyu’s mind was fogged up by the female’s questions. He suddenly thought of something, and his expression became a little ugly.
“Does Tiantian not know that you ate the… Yun fruit? Or maybe, you don’t know about it at all?” Shu Hanyu paused as he was speaking, figuring out the correct word before continuing.
Shu Jintian became dumbfounded. “What Yun fruit? I don’t know anything about it!”
Shu Jintian was so stupefied he became anxious; it turned out that he ate something wrong?
Sure enough! Tiantian didn’t eat the Yun fruit because of him, but because he didn’t know the effects of the Yun fruit at all.
A faint trace of sorrow appeared in Shu Hanyu’s eyes, but he concealed it before Shu Jintian noticed and said with a light tone, “It’s the red fruit I gathered for you that day. Your lower part bled because of that fruit.”
Shu Jintian started thinking about his time ever since he transmigrated, and finally recalled that his bottom part had bled once before. It seemed that he had eaten some fruits right before that too. At that time, he had just believed that the red fruit was poisonous, and he had angrily tossed it away when Shu Hanyu wanted to feed him more of that fruit.
It turned out that the big snake had wanted to be with him ever since he was first caught? He was already preparing from so long ago!
“That fruit, as long as you eat it, you can get pregnant?” Shu Jintian thought of the past when Shu Hanyu would bully him, and the current reality where he had already laid eggs, then looked at Shu Hanyu with unhappy eyes.
“Yes.” Shu Hanyu passed Shu Jintian the blankets that had slid away from his body due to the wind. Tiantian should eat.
“Then what about you? Will you get pregnant if you eat it too?” Shu Jintian continued interrogating.
Shu Hanyu looked at Shu Jintian strangely for a few seconds. After confirming that he wasn’t joking, he dumbfoundedly explained, “No. Why would Tiantian think so? I’m a male beastman. With a male’s strong digestive ability, the Yun fruit is simply useless.”
Shu Jintian lowered his head in disappointment. “So it’s like that?” It turned out that the reason he could get pregnant was because his digestive ability was too weak?
Things have already come to this; Shu Jintian had to accept it even if he didn’t want to. That was to say nothing of the fact that laying eggs was better than being ill.
Unsure whether it was because he had eggs with Shu Hanyu, Shu Jintian felt that his relationship with Shu Hanyu seemed to have become even stabler.
