NOVEL NEXT Chapter 57: Taming a King (Last)
As they got closer to the area where the sound of fighting was erupting from, they saw a valley.
The valley wasn't particularly large, but it was filled with all kinds of slimes and fiends, battling like crazy.
In the middle of the valley, a giant slime that looked like a boulder-sized iron ball was fighting against an ice-magic-wielding fiend and a levitating serpent nearly 30 feet long with a body as thick as a tree trunk, its scales gleaming with a cold, eerie luster. They were the King Slime, the commander of the Ash Legion, and his tamed creature, the Leviathan Pup.
"It's actually Shinma. I didn't expect him to be the leader of the Ash Legion," Ray muttered under his breath, recognizing the Commander of the Ash Legion from the memory of the original owner.
Shinma was a very infamous fiend, as he was a key figure in the downfall of a densely populated human settlement.
His infamy was built from annihilating human villages with his legion. It peaked at painting a town red with human blood and killing a silver-rank expert with the help of a silver-rank fiend.
"I will kill him and avenge our comrades."
Intense killing intent brewed in Nameless's eyes as he recognized the leader of the Ash Legion as a sworn enemy of his kingdom. His killing intent was so thick it felt like it would burst out and materialize in reality like that one fiend Ray had killed not too long ago.
And then it happened.
His killing intent broke free from the confines of his flesh, draping over him like an armor of blood. Suddenly, he looked less majestic and more bloodthirsty, like a demon from hell.
Ray, who was near him, shivered as the temperature dropped rapidly.
"Wait," Ray said, stopping Nameless from taking action.
"What? Finally getting cold feet?" Nameless asked, his voice edged with disdain and impatience.
"I have a plan. I hope you can assist me," Ray said sincerely.
Nameless's heart welled up with curiosity.
"What do you have in mind? Tell me. I am dying to know."
Ray's lips raised into a sly smile. "Something crazy."

Shinma and his Leviathan Pup were furiously clashing with the King Slime.
The King Slime had used its skill to solidify its body into a material tougher than steel. In this state, no matter what Shinma and his Leviathan Pup did, they couldn't harm the King Slime. At the same time, the King Slime couldn't do anything to them either. Whenever it attacked, the two worked together seamlessly, easing the pressure off one another and countering its strikes.
As of now, neither side could gain the upper hand, but all three knew that sooner or later this stalemate would break.
The King Slime's transformation consumed an immense amount of magic power. Sooner or later, its reserves would run dry, and its hardened form would dissolve. Once its body returned to its original gelatinous state, it would become nothing more than a fish on the chopping block for the fearsome Shinma and his Leviathan Pup.
Under their relentless assault, the King Slime's transformation finally showed signs of ending. Chunks of its body lost their metallic luster and extreme hardness.
It was the undeniable sign that its magic power reserves were running dry.
"Its transformation is coming to an end. The moment we have been waiting for is nigh. Levi, prepare to blast it to smithereens the second it reverts back to its original form!"
With victory close at hand, Shinma didn't want anything to go wrong, but just as the Slime King's transformation ended and his Leviathan Pup was about to blast it into pieces, the entire valley lit up in an orange-red glow.
It happened in the blink of an eye. No one had the chance to react before a horizontal, high-temperature fire tornado erupted from Ray's mouth, sweeping across the valley like a death sentence. ☠️
Hundreds of slimes evaporated instantly in the searing heat of his Max range Max Power Level 1 Fireball Dragon Breath!
The screams of countless fiends filled the air as their flesh melted away!
Shinma's proud legion was reduced to a pitiful fraction of its former might with all the weak ones dying and only the handful of strong ones with enchanted armour that protected them from the sudden attack surviving. However, the flames were licking away at their protective shield and it didn't seem like they would last long either if no help was provided.
With no time to think, Shinma acted decisively, commanding his Leviathan Pup to redirect its attack into putting out the intense fire instead of wiping out the King Slime.
His Leviathan Pup listened to him intently. A massive wave of water erupted out of its body, splitting into multiple streams, raining down on the valley below, putting out the fire.
The valley filled up with steam.

Ray ignored the notification, rushing into the valley while wearing a black-gold mask. It was one of the items already present in Ashclaw's son, Torvin's interspatial ring when he looted it.
He bombarded Shinma and the Leviathan Pup with dozens of Azure Wind Blades while using the Beast Taming Skill on the King Slime. A light shot out from his head and tried to sink into the King Slime.
Shinma and the Leviathan Pup were forced to defend. With magic power still present in their reserves, they were able to properly defend against the Azure Wind Blades that shot out of the steamy haze.
The King Slime, on the other hand, used its last bit of magic power to resist the fate of becoming a mere tamed beast of a human. Its magic power poured out to block the light that shot out of Ray from entering its body.
"If you don't resist, I promise I will help you take revenge and kill all these fiend scums," Ray tried to reason with it.
Perhaps it was enticed by the thought of revenge, perhaps it was touched by Ray's sincerity, the King Slime dispersed its magic power, allowing his soul light to sink into its flesh.
A highly anticipated notification popped up,
