Beast Tamer Academy

Chapter 3: Chapter 3

"There's no end to this!" Agnes said in frustration as she rode on the back of a three meters large Maya and shot down approaching beasts with gusts of wind.

A thirty meter long Lightning Lizard that had grown wings shot towards her from the back with lightning energy gathering in its maw.

Maneuvering Maya, she came to a halt and dived down and angled herself perpendicular to the ground with her front facing the belly of the lizard.

"Beast Skill..." Grey flecks appeared in her eyes as she synchronized her spiritual power with Maya's ether.

"... Wind Storm." Wind gathered in front of her and just as she was about to let it loose, a roar shook the air as ether slammed into her and Maya.

All the beasts froze including the ones that were flying and Agnes and her beast fell towards the ground along with all the beasts that were in the air with her.

'What... was that?' she had heard of this phenomenon before. It only happened when a beast that far outclasses all other beasts was present.

'But there was nothing like that on the ether readings.' In the city hall which also doubled as a command center, they had a device capable of taking the readings of all ether mutated organisms in a seven hundred square miles.

'Bryan!' Agnes mind immediately went to her foster son and she regained control over Maya and directed her to the location of the Bryan's home.

As she raced through the air, she noticed that the location of the creature that let out the roar that shook the ether and Bryan's house location overlapped.

"Or perhaps they might be the same place?" Her mind instantly went to the egg she gave to Bryan and her mind settled down a bit but she did not dare let up and further increased her speed.

Maya sent a message of discontent and Agnes just patted her feathers and promised her a special treat later.

"Bryan!" In mere seconds, she had appeared in the source of the roar which, just as she suspected, was from Bryan's house.

She landed Maya in front of the door and was about to proceed when a large wolf appeared in front of her and let out a roar.

"Out of my way!" She growled and Maya responded to her emotions and a bundle of wind blades sliced into the beast and dismantled it instantly.

Dodging the blood and gore, she ran to the steps of the building and removed a remote from her pocket and pressed a button.

The fortified building opened up a space the size of a door and she opened the front door and rushed inside.

"Bryan!" She rushed up the stairs and saw him collapsed on the floor and rushed over and grabbed him before patting him all over and was relieved when she did not find any injuries on his body.

It was then she noticed a lizard on the window opposite them. It was standing on its hind legs and had its chest puffed out.

She instantly knew it was the one that let out the roar and put up her guard and she connected with her pet and felt foreign but familiar either fill her body.

"I'll give you five seconds. Talk." She threatened in a low voice and the lizard seemed to take in her presence and visibly gulped.

 ...

"Ugh...." Bryan groaned as he opened his eyes and felt something soft under his cheeks. He shifted his head and saw the familiar face of his caretaker, Miss Agnes.

"Miss... Agnes?" His madness was foggy and he tried to recall his last memories before passing out.

'I remember opening the hole for the lizard and flying backwards... just what happened?' He tried standing up but felt pains all over his body and fell back to the lap he was lying on.

"Sorry... please let me lie here a little longer." He said and Miss Agnes said and began to stroke his hair giving him a ticklish feeling.

"Miss Agnes." He remembered something he had to do and softly called out to her.

"Hmm?" She responded and Bryan closed his eyes and readied his heart before opening his eyes again.

"I'm sorry for doubting you earlier." Bryan let out softly and Agnes just replied by increasing the force she was using to stroke his head.

"You should be! If you want to make it up to me... then don't die." Miss Agnes said and Bryan felt like she had seen through him and he nodded.

"I guess you're planning on taking the exam." She said softly.

In this world overrode with mysterious beasts and supernatural energy, our of the five continents that existed, only three of them were inhabited.

The Third Continent, The Fourth Continent where he was currently in, and the Fifth Continent.

Communication between the three continent's was hard due to the ether hanging over the sea that disrupted communications so each continent had formed their own unique traditions.

But there was one thing all three of them had in common and that was the existence of the Beast Tamer Academy.

Aleuora had a total population of five point four billion people. And each year, each Beast Tamer Academy only admitted a total of a hundred students.

Only the best of the best could even dream of taking the entrance exam only only the true elite could pass it.

In other words, it was very competitive and hard to get in.

And Bryna was even at a disadvantage. Unlike most people who had been nurturing their beasts since they were little, he only got his own recently and he had not even formed a bond with it.

No matter how one looked at it, it was impossible. For ordinary people at least.

'I don't know what type of bloodline the lizard has but it definitely isn't normal. And plus, I have a card up my sleeves.'

Like all transmigrators, Bryan was given a special ability of his own. Well, he had also seen people capable of using something similar to it but none of them ever reached his own.

'Now that I think of it, I haven't even checked the lizards own.' Bryan shot up and looked for the lizard and found it dangling upside down from a lamp holder.

"Eh? What happened?" He directed this at the only person capable of doing it and she shrugged and pointed at it.

"Thanks to that stupid lizard, we had casualties far more than expected. Luckily, nobody died but many were wounded from falling from the skies. The only saving grace was the fact that the same also happened on the invading beasts side, perhaps even worse so it worked out in a plus. And when I learnt it was the one responsible for it, I decided to teach him a lesson." Miss Agnes said and Bryan turned to the lizard as it sent an SOS.

Help me. At least, that was what he thought it said. But he decided to ignore it.

"It's not like he needs to be free for me to do my thing." Bryan closed his eyes and felt the mysterious power within him and opened his eyes and instead of just the lizard, there were a few lines of text in front of him.

'Huh?' Bryan blinked as he saw the stats and was left flabbergasted by the sight.

As one may have guessed, Bryan's abilities allowed him to see the most probable evolution path of any beast and the success rate of pursuing said path as well as the materials needed.

Bryan used his ability to make a bit of money on the side and naturally, he had seen a lot of statuses.

But this was his first time seeing one like this. Most beasts either had a large amount of evolution paths and little success rates or little evolution paths and high success rates. But the lizard was abnormal even among them.

Genetically speaking, it was impossible to have a complete one hundred percent success rate as a beasts bloodline would have to be influenced by internal and external factors.

'But wait... This lizard is a dragon!?' Bryan gave the beast a look and couldn't believe it.

'Let's leave the matter of the bloodline and evolution to tomorrow. There is just one thing I need to do now.' Bryan shook his head as drowsiness threatened to overcome him.

"Thank you very much, Miss Agnes." He turned around and thanked his guardian once more.

"And I'm sorry but..." He did not get to finish before he collapsed and entered into a deep slumber.
