Beast Evolution System: Devourer of Heaven

Chapter 88: Dissipating Soul

" Excuse me?" She asked in a confused voice. The vessel spirit answered. " Unseal me first before you leave."

Her expression changed but before she could say anything it continued. " Soul nourishing natural treasures are extremely rare, even during the primordial era which had an abundance of resources.

It will take you too long to find one and this child doesn't have that long. While my power is weakened due to not having a holder I am still a rank 7 vessel.

Even though I can't heal his soul I can stabilize it to prevent his death for a while and also provide protection."

Her eyes grew cold and vigilant. " How do I know you won't hurt him instead? You seem to have extreme bias against beasts, I don't believe you would just willingly help him."

" I have my reasons to protect him and I can also say the same thing about you, you barely know him, so why do you care so much? How do I know you don't have ulterior motives of your own?"

" He's my sworn little brother, ofcourse it's my duty to protect him. So I'll just take him with me and keep him safe myself."

The vessel spirit became frustrated. " Stop being stubborn, even if you take him then what? You can't prevent his soul from dissipating, he would last a week with you at most."

It continued in a much gentler tone. " Besides, you can't give him a sense of security."

Ursela was confused." Why not? You should know nothing can threaten me in these waters?" It answered calmly. " That not what I meant. I meant you shouldn't give him security, I've noticed he grows stronger by facing difficulties.

His desire to live is strong, unnaturally so, to the point it might be mistaken for cowardice and it had become the source of his will . Facing life threatening situations keep his will active and strengthens it.

Safety would only serve to stunt his growth. Don't worry, I will keep him safe but it would be better if he doesn't know I can take action as that would defeat the purpose."

Ursela contemplated it then agreed. " Sure, I will unseal you but if anything happens to him.."

The vessel spirit waved it hand dismissively. " I know I know. You are strangely too overprotective of somebody you'd just became sworn siblings with.

I'm not sure if it's because you're loyal or just a simple minded airhead." Her face twisted with rage.

" Who are you calling an airhead you stupid rusty old ghost, do you want me to crush you to scrap metal right now? Huh?"

They continued bickering for while until the vessel spirit reminded her of the current situation.

" It would be better if you unseal me now so his situation won't deteriorate any further." Ursela agreed and undid the seal.

The three blue rings turned into water and disappeared. " It would be better if you keep the rings, for appearances, so he wouldn't know I've been unsealed."

She nodded and created similar water rings around it but without the sealing effect, they were just decoration.

The vessel spear's aura grew stronger and stronger. The vessel spirit became clearer and less illusory like a phantom.

Then it sat on top of Ved and a golden light covered his giant body. His soul stopped disintegrating.

Then Ursela transformed into her true form and swam away to look for soul nourishing treasures to help him.

Somewhere in this vast ocean.

The lava metapede ran on air above the sea, a trail of blood left in it path. The gaping wound on it side bled continuously without any sign of stopping.

Then it suddenly collided with an invisible barrier and bounced back. It looked up but there was nothing infront of it, there was confusion in it red eyes.

It approached slowly and touch the space infront of it with it antenna. It could clearly feel a solid barrier infront of it but there was nothing there.

Then it ran alongside the barrier and continued running east for hundreds of kilometres until it saw something.

A small crack in the barrier, it was pitch black like a crack in the world itself. Lava metapede were very intelligent demonic beasts, with intelligence probably rivaling that of chimpanzees.

But with it intelligence it couldn't understand what this was. After suffering such a loss against Ved it was a bit more cautious. It extended it antenna to touch the space fracture.

It moved slowly and cautiously, ready to retreat at the first sign of danger but the moment it touched the space fracture it body was sucked in.

It appeared hundreds of metres above the sea. The place didn't look much different from it home except the concentration of world essence was lower, much lower.

It felt uncomfortable like it was finding it hard to breathe. It plummet to the ground like a meteor then flames ignited on the tip of it feet and stabilised it, it stood mid air and looked around this unfamiliar space.

Then it antennas caught a whisp of something. Metal, it smelled metal but it was impure and of extremely low quality.

However it's been a long time since it had a proper meal so it did not care. It galloped across the air like a flaming spear, heading west.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Somewhere in the Atlantic ocean.

A gigantic cago ship cut through the ocean heading east. This was the Black Shield ship, a transport ship owned by Tony Belle.

Tony was a ship captain even before the great fall that happened over 20 years ago, unfortunately he lost his wife and 7 year old son during that time.

The only family he had left was his daughter who was in high school at the time and now she had joined him in his transport business which he continued even after the fall.

Tony had sailed these oceans a countless times, made enough money through the transport business to push himself to the peak of rank 2, just a bit shy of rank 3.

While the sea was dangerous they had never once face any real danger and that's because of her

Luciana, a friend of his who was also his crewmember even before. Luciana had a very special vessel.

A golden compass, it didn't have much combat ability but it was able to detect life or anything she wanted around it as long as it was within range and always pointed in the right direction.

Using it, they were able to avoid powerful beasts and storms thus building a thriving transport business, they outperformed their competitors.

To the point even big shot like the Red Prince requested their service. Right now he was delivering cago for that big shot, a man recognised as the strongest human.

A man know by many names, the phoenix, the blazing prince, king of fire and the red prince which was the most common.

And he had expected the mission to be as smooth like all the others. He expected Luciana to detect danger before hand and technically she did.

She detected an extremely powerful lifeform thousands of kilometres away but it didn't change anything because.

Hundreds of metres in the sky, a gigantic creature that looked like a black centipede with a snail shell on it back was looking at them with unhidden greed and hunger.

He turned to look at his daughter. " Send a message pigeon to Firestone City, tell them we might not be able to deliver their cago in time."

Then he smiled at her. " And I need you to get out of here while I keep this thing busy, Luciana will take care of you."

He looked up and tried to act brave but his legs were shaking from fear then the beast descended upon them like judgement of steel and fire.
