Beast Evolution System: Devourer of Heaven

Chapter 109: Ved Vs Vermillion

A giant cloud of fire covered the sky. Ved's body shot out of the cloud like a flaming meteor and crashed on the sea.

A few seconds passed then he shot out of the sea and flew up. He stopped in the air and faced the man who was floating infront of him.

The man who was now adorned in red armour floated 6 kilometres above the sea, fiery wings gently flapping behind him. " Lord Vermillion, what are your orders?"

Asked the woman with a gyroscope. The man named Vermillion answered without looking at her. " Prepare my dinner, this will be over quickly."

He looked at Ved with unhidden contempt. This angered Ved, his blood boiled. He roared and shook the sky then flapped his wings and flew at him.

Their battle had officially began. The moment he got close he slapped Vermillion, the wind pressure reached him even before Ved's claw did causing his red hair to dance like flames.

In response Vermillion stabbed the claw with his fan. When they met, they blasted a massive shockwave. Blood spurted out of Ved's palm and both were sent flying back.

Without wasting a moment Ved lunged back at Vermillion and slapped his giant claw at him again, the wound on it had already healed.

This time he activated his herculean strength to it full capacity. He felt something move through his body and gather in his arm.

Ved felt it clearly this time, he knew what it was, which confused him. The vessel spirit clearly stated that, it was impossible to freely utilise and control vital essence.

Yet here he was using it. Although it was merely moving it from one part of his body to another, it's still something that should've been impossible.

His claw continued heading for Vermilion like a falling mountain. The first things to clash were their wills. Their wills were so powerful their clash seemed to effect the real world around them.

But Ved knew he was going to lose. His opponents will was significantly stronger than his, especially since his avatar could only use a quarter of his true will.

But Ved knew, even if he was at full power he still would've lost. That how powerful this man was.

His will lasted a split second before it was pushed back. Then his opponents will reached him, it washed over him like a flood of invisible flames.

It was so powerful he felt it slowly sap away the strength of his slap, his arm felt like it was trying to move through a thick swamp. By the time his claw clashed with the fan, it had lost not a small portion of it momentum.

This was a simple application of will, will could strengthen ones attacks while weakening their enemies but the effects it provides in this manner is very small.

While still enough to change the course of battle between opponents of similar strength, it becomes less effective if one of them is slightly stronger in other aspects.

However this is not what Vermillion did, instead of enhancing his own attack or weakening Ved's, he created a region of condensed will.

This was an ingenious way of using the rank 4 ability of will telekinesis, basically using telekinesis force to make Ved feel like he was attacking through a sponge that drained the momentum of his attack.

However Vermillion was still the one pushed back. Even though he had a significantly stronger will than Ved he lost out in terms of body strength.

Beasts in general had much stronger bodies than humans, humans breached this gap with powerful techniques and their vessel weapons.

However this didn't seem to be an issue because a moment later Ved was hit by a giant flaming fist, his scales broke and the first burnt his flash.

He crashed on the sea again then flew back up. His wounds already healing. Although the regeneration speed was 4 times slower than normal, it was still very fast.

A wound like this would still take only a few seconds to heal. Ved calmed down, he realised his opponent was much stronger than expected.

However the moment he calmed his mind he felt his strength drop. The feeling he had, the one that gave him strength and pride disappeared.

Unbeknownst to him, his dragon pride deactivated after he forcefully made his mind think rationally again. He deactivated dragon pride by eliminating it side effect, if the vessel spirit was here, it would've been shocked to death by this.

Then he turned his attention to Vermillion and figured, it would be hard to defeat him in full strength let alone as an avatar. So his goal changed, it was no longer winning but to deliver as much damage as he could.

If he couldn't harm this man then he would destroy what he cared about. Then he looked closely at his opponent and now that he had calmed down he noticed something.

He recognised this face somewhere, he couldn't tell where exactly but he was certain he had seen this man before.

No matter how hard he racked his brain he couldn't figure it out so he put it at the back of mind, even though it was still bothering him.

Ved opened his mouth, his spikes glowed and a ball of nuclear energy gathered in his mouth.

His opponent waved his fan and created a giant shield of fire. However none expected what Ved did next.

Instead of attacking the man, he fired the nuclear blast at the ships below. A huge beam of blue energy cut through the air like a spear and before anybody could react it had burnt a hole through a ship.

But it was not over, the beam cut the ship in half and continued to cut a second ship and the third, by the time they reacted all three ships had been blown into fragments.

The people on the ships did not even get a chance to scream before being burnt into ashes by the nuclear flames.

Ved felt sorry for them for a moment, a feeling of disgust rose inside him, this was the first time he killed a human afterall. That human part of himself still told him this was wrong.

However, he then remembered the death and destruction he found in his own home and the guilt was washed away and replaced by rage.

He continued firing the beam at the next ship but a golden barrier suddenly appeared around the ship and deflected the beam.

Vermillion waved his fan and fire gathered behind him. The flames grew and condensed and in a blink of an eye turned into a hundred metres tall flame giant.

The flame giant looked humanoid with two muscular arms but it face was featureless. It body emitted heat so high the air boiled around it.

Then it sent a punch at him. A giant fist even larger than Ved descended upon him like a flaming mountain.

It was so fast the air exploded infront of it, Ved was hit by a wave of burning hot air even before the fist reached him.

He knew he wouldn't be fast enough to dodge it in time so he created a cocoon around himself but this cocoon was different from those he made before.

It was harder and much much stronger. After all it was not made of soft web but the hard wax instead, then the fist landed.
