Chapter 165: 165. Prisoner

As a member of the Royal Forest Iron Guard, Jamie Lannister should be dressed in magnificent and sturdy armor, complemented by a white cloak, as a symbol of the noble spirit of a knight.

But now he seems to have realized the responsibility of leading troops to ambush the Prime Minister and even harm him.

So, instead of wearing the 'uniform' of the Royal Forest Iron Guard, he simply wore a nice everyday leather attire.

It looks like he has prepared to flee after the deed is done.

Yet, even though he used the power of the Lannister Clan in King's Landing to track Edd's movements, knowing he would definitely pass through Mud Gate on his way back,

he made one crucial miscalculation—the team included not only the Prime Minister but also a furious King!

"Go! Catch Jamie Lannister!"

Robert called out, spurring his horse past one Lannister soldier, swinging the hammer in his hand with momentum.

With the clash of the hammer head and the helmet, the entire jaw of that soldier was crushed inward!

Jamie now only held a half-handed sword, lacking any protective equipment at all. Thus, facing the overweight Robert, who had indulged in debauchery for over a decade, he could only keep dodging on horseback.

"Your Majesty! This is a feud between Stark and Lannister, it's unrelated to others!"

This sentence was half counsel, half threat.

In a feudal kingdom, if the king manages the private affairs of nobles too deeply, it threatens the nobles' power.

If he wants to maintain kingdom stability, the king should not interfere in the nobles' private matters.

But now the situation was very different.

Robert, due to his weight, could not catch Jamie, and so began killing Lannister soldiers as if he were whacking moles.

These soldiers held long spears, making them apt to face targets like Robert who didn't wear horse armor, but they hardly dared lay a hand on Robert.

"Unrelated? Letting those three bastards become crown princes! Growing in the eyes of everyone in the kingdom! And this is unrelated to me?! How long do you and that woman Cersei plan to deceive me?!"

Jamie was stunned under Robert's angry questioning.

At this time, both Lann, Edd, and Robert knew that the three crown princes were not Robert's biological children, yet none knew who their biological father was.

They merely believed that Jamie Lannister, being Cersei's younger brother and a long-time attendant as a Royal Forest Iron Guard, surely knew about this matter.

But Jamie was shocked because he knew too well—he was the father of those three crown princes, the biological father of his sister's children!

As the 'criminal', Jamie had immense mental pressure, and Robert's questioning made him more panicky than anyone.

His first reaction was that this matter could not end well!

Robert, when the War of the Usurper ended, held the smashed corpse of a Targaryen baby in his hands without punishing the infant killer.

That was the crime of killing infants!

Jamie knew he had a cruel heart and would not let Cersei and himself go.

The Gold Cloaks following Robert also did not want to deal with the Lannister family, but since the King had charged ahead, if they didn't act, it was as if they had a death wish.

So the Gold Cloaks drew their longswords and began charging in.

The scene immediately became extremely chaotic due to the increasing number of people and the beginning of shouting and killing.

Jamie Lannister on horseback was at a loss, yet the long training instilled knightly instincts in him to keep moving the horse, avoiding being entangled by infantry.

He couldn't understand, he merely came to teach the Stark leader a lesson on behalf of his brother, to make him release someone. Why would the King know the secret that he and his sister had hidden for so many years?

"I need to find Cersei, I need to find the children..."

Jamie murmured on horseback, but he immediately denied himself.

"No way! Once inside the Red Castle, there's no coming out! In this situation, you can't even bribe the Gold Cloaks, no matter how much money is thrown at them; the remaining Lannister soldiers are impossible to overwhelm the Gold Cloaks."

Jamie painfully cleared his thoughts.

He had to leave.

He had to seize the chance, being not far from the city gate, to quickly depart King's Landing!

Only by joining forces with the family's army, then using force and destruction of kingdom territory to make Robert hesitate, protecting Cersei and the children.

Tywin Lannister had already started mobilizing troops; their preparation was earlier than the King's, having the advantage. If he, the eldest son, got trapped in King's Landing, Tywin would hesitate to act.

He absolutely must leave!

Having logically worked through it, Jamie no longer hesitated.

"Block them all! Clear a path for me! Toward the city gate!"

Upon hearing the order, the Lannister soldiers who couldn't fight nor retreat finally found direction.

The Lannister family was rich in gold and iron mines, so their soldiers' armor was generally one tier higher than the other six kingdoms.

In a true fight, they were not afraid of the Gold Cloaks without a numerical advantage.

A group of Lannister soldiers quickly squeezed toward the city gate. Their armor "swished" in collision and friction.

Edd also drew the half-handed sword hanging on his horse, charging into the crowd.

Lann didn't think his riding skills could support fighting in a situation this complex atop a horse, so he simply dismounted from the start.

Jamie was just less than five meters away from them, heading toward the city gate.

He glared at Edd hatefully as they brushed past each other.

"This isn't over, Lord Stark. A Lannister always pays his debts!"

More than fifty Lannister soldiers in this small area were enough to hold back pursuers; the city gate guards, before understanding the severity of the situation, likely wouldn't strictly block Jamie.

They also didn't want to offend anyone.

But here, there wasn't just a few ordinary soldiers and noble lords, but also a Demon Hunter!

"A Lannister always pays his debts? Then why not pay them now?"

Jamie's warhorse kept moving without stopping, looking through the crowd toward Lann who spoke.

He always looked down on many people; to him, Lann was merely a savage guard Stark had brought from the Northern Territory.

Even if he could win against 'The Hound' in trial by combat, so what? He considered himself far stronger than 'The Hound'.

Moreover, the five-meter gap between them was full of Gold Cloaks and Lannister soldiers tangled together.

He simply thought it was a brainless small fry talking tough.

This kind of person, he could say a word, and summon a heap of people to kill him.

Lann was well aware of Jamie's view of him and remained calm.

His hand merely squeezed a stone, smiling softly as he said—

[Alder]

A soft "bang" sound, the propelled stone accurately calculated its path, passed through the crowded masses, colliding with Jamie's horse's hoof just before landing.

"Neigh!"

The warhorse sprained its leg directly, Jamie Lannister frantically tightened the reins, yet couldn't stop himself from being thrown off, rolling on the filthy ground several times before halting.

Sword drawn, white cloak tracing an arc.

The Royal Forest Iron Guard, [Fearless] Balistan, brandished his sword at Jamie's neck.
