Chapter 44: Chapter 44: The Beast Control Technique - Beast Flame Seal
Beneath the black robe, a faint, aged voice chuckled softly. "I wonder if the Mittel Auction House is willing to collaborate with me to sell this Blood Coagulation Powder? In the future, I will handle the production while you manage the sales and provide the necessary ingredients."
"Hehe, sir, you're far too courteous. Collaborating with an alchemist of your caliber is something the Mittel Auction House would welcome with open arms." Holding a jade bottle delicately in her slender hand, Ya Fei's eyes gleamed with charm as she responded with a sweet smile.
Taking out a piece of paper from his robe, Xiao Yan handed it to Ya Fei. His aged voice chuckled. "I'd appreciate it if you could prepare the materials listed here."
Accepting the list eagerly, Ya Fei glanced over it quickly and responded with a bright smile. After her previous lesson, she dared not show even the slightest hesitation.
However, as she caught a glimpse of the pale, youthful hand extended from under the black robe, a trace of surprise flickered in her enchanting eyes.
Though the voice was that of an elderly man, the alchemist had hands as pristine as those of a young man. How on earth did he maintain such immaculate skin?
"I don't care how you sell the medicine, but make sure the items I need are prepared as quickly as possible," said the aged voice firmly.
As soon as the words were spoken, Xiao Yan's gaze, hidden beneath the black cloak, settled sharply on the alluringly mature beauty beside him, whose charm seemed almost fox-like.
Hearing the remark, Ya Fei's delicate face lit up with joy. "Sir, you can rest assured. The Mittel Auction House will do its utmost."
Calling over a maid, Ya Fei handed her the list and instructed her to prepare the materials immediately.
"As for the sales arrangement," Ya Fei began, "the Mittel Auction House will provide the materials and handle the sales. The earnings will be divided: seventy percent for you, and the remaining thirty percent for the auction house as operational costs. What do you think?"
"That will do," the aged voice responded with a satisfied laugh, followed by a nod.
With this affirmation, Ya Fei felt an immense sense of relief.
The deal sealed, Xiao Yan calmly sipped tea from a cup beside him, waiting in silence. He made a conscious effort not to focus on the enchanting sight of Ya Fei's long, black, silk-clad legs.
Not long after, the black-robed figure, now carrying a large quantity of materials, departed the auction house. Only then did Ya Fei finally relax completely.
Her voluptuous figure slumped lazily in a chair, resembling a fox curling up. The lazy posture exuded a unique, seductive charm.
Leaning her head against the cold chairback, Ya Fei let out a wry chuckle. "Why is someone of his alchemy level producing such low-grade items?"
Nearby, Gu Ni shared her sentiment. Rubbing the interspatial ring containing a vast quantity of Blood Coagulation Powder, he commented, "Alchemists are human too. Producing this much so quickly naturally lowers the grade."
Pursing her crimson lips, Ya Fei mused, "I suspect that the old man recently took on a disciple. He's been purchasing cauldrons, low-grade ingredients, and fire seeds."
"You think his disciple made the Blood Coagulation Powder?" Gu Ni looked stunned before shaking his head. "Impossible."
"Even the number one alchemist of our Jia Ma Empire, Dan King Gu He, couldn't achieve such quantity and quality as a novice."
"If someone like that existed, their talent would be nothing short of monstrous," Gu Ni added with awe.
"Talent? Isn't there already a genius here in Wu Tan City?" Ya Fei quipped.
Gu Ni immediately understood she was referring to Xiao Yan. Nodding in admiration, he remarked, "The young master of the Xiao Clan, Xiao Yan, reportedly broke through to the Dou Zhe realm just days ago at the mere age of eleven. Such cultivation speed is almost unheard of in a hundred years."
Thinking of the vast difference in their ages, Ya Fei rested her chin in her palm and sighed softly. She was still stuck at the Dou Qi stage. Comparing oneself to others was truly exasperating.
Leaving the Mittel Auction House, Xiao Yan entered a shadowy alley. With a flicker of Yao Lao's spatial powers, he disappeared without a trace.
When Xiao Yan opened his eyes again, he found himself back at the mountain cave in the Magical Beast Mountain Range where they had rested previously.
Yao Lao's figure floated out. "This spot is too exposed. If you want to practice that Dou Technique, we'll need to find a more suitable place."
Shrugging off his black cloak, Xiao Yan smirked. "Can't you just take me there directly?"
"Brat, be grateful I brought you to the Magical Beast Mountain Range. That already saved you a lot of trouble," Yao Lao retorted.
Looking around, Yao Lao continued, "We're on the outskirts of the range, where there are many mercenaries and magical beasts. Training an Earth-rank Dou Technique here would attract too much attention."
"We need to go deeper into the mountain range. The beasts are stronger there, but fewer mercenaries venture in. Besides, powerful magical beasts tend to claim their territories, so if we find a hidden spot, it's unlikely anyone will disturb you."
"Fair enough," Xiao Yan nodded, gripping the hilt of the Heavy Xuan Ruler on his back. His gaze sharpened. "Here comes a magical beast—a first-rank beast."
"Same rule as before: I won't intervene unless your life is in danger," Yao Lao stated calmly, watching Xiao Yan closely.
As they spoke, a massive wolf appeared in Xiao Yan's line of sight.
The wolf had fiery red fur, as if cloaked in flames. Its glossy coat shimmered under the light, emanating a scorching heat.
Its body was muscular and robust, with sharp eyes glinting with cunning intelligence, exuding both savagery and brilliance.
"A first-rank magical beast, the Flamefire Wolf. A fine fire-type creature—perfect to be my mount and take me deeper into the mountains," Xiao Yan said, a mischievous grin spreading across his face.
Hearing this audacious plan, Yao Lao warned, "Magical beasts are incredibly wild. Gaining their loyalty is a rare privilege achieved by only a lucky few."
Before Yao Lao could finish, Xiao Yan stomped the ground and shot forward like a bolt of lightning. "Eight Extremities Collapse!"
Having reached six-star Dou Zhe, coupled with the body-tempering effects of Burning Blood, Xiao Yan's speed was lightning-fast. He became a blur, landing atop the Flamefire Wolf's back and delivering a powerful punch.
Caught off guard, the Flamefire Wolf's massive body sank, its head slamming into the ground.
"How about becoming my mount, little wolf? Follow me, and you'll live the good life," Xiao Yan teased, stroking the beast's fiery mane.
Watching the growling wolf baring its teeth, Yao Lao smirked inwardly. Convince it? That would be a miracle.
After three minutes of repeated attempts, Yao Lao glanced at the Flamefire Wolf's increasingly battered form. "One more round, and we might just have to see if it has a magic core."
"Almost there, just one last try," Xiao Yan said, a glint of determination flashing in his eyes as he stroked the wolf's fur.
Suddenly, a realization struck him like a bolt of lightning.
