Chapter 339: Bye Bye Bye
Jayr POV - The Walking Dead Universe, Earth, Georgia, Mert County, Lone Oak Farm - 2010
I'm lazily sitting on a rocking chair placed outside one of the many flourishing fields of the farm as I enjoy the slightly chilling by relaxing breeze and admire the sight of the enchanting starlit night sky for one last time while thinking back at everything that happened in the months that followed my victory against the powerful Champion of Void, the Legendary Super Saiyan Son Goza.
Immediately after Son Goza officially became a fellow Man of Culture, a flash of bright multicolored light blidend us as we were sent back to the exact point and time where I issued the Challenge.
It was slightly disorienting, but after a few moments I quickly regained my bearings and moved on to check on the status of Hershel and his group composed by his family and friends who all live in the perimeters of Hershel's family farm.
After comfirming that everyone was fine and we moved past the introduction period we quickly focused on the most pressing issue in our hands, the people who attacked Hershel's Farm.
Luckily, they were all still alive as Son Goza held back and simply knocked them out and broke a few bones to make them harmless, so we could interrogate them and learn more about their group.
Of course, Shane, Daryl, and I took care of the interrogation which was pretty normal and civil but grew more and more violent and brutal the more information we learned about the group.
We learned that they were part of a group of ruthless and dangerous survivors who called themselves the Living.
During the early stages of the outbreak, the group grew to around 30 people, they formed around Philadelphia, eventually traveling towards a refugee camp near Washington, D.C., though they couldn't get close due to the roads being jammed.
Afterwards, they kept heading south, never staying in one place for very long, and eventually made their way into Georgia as the group grew bigger and bigger the more people of the same kind joined them.
Their scavenging party was made up of men who did horrific things away from the rest of the group, on top of that, they were also heavily armed with automatic weaponry and didn't hesitate to use them.
During the interrogation, we also learned that our group already had a close encounter with some of the members of the Livings as the people who attacked Glenn and Maggie were also part of this group.
After learning everything that the people of this group had done, I didn't hesitate to work as judge, jury, and executioner to remove that kind of filth from the world.
Sure at first Dale and Hershel were quite off put by my swift decision and actions, even Rick and Son Goza were quite uncomfortable with it, but then when I clearly explained what kind of people they were and what horrifying actions they had done they relented.
After taking care of the people who attacked Hershel's Farm, we helped with cleaning up the area before we returned back to our farm with Hershel's group, Michonne, and Son Goza joining us.
The reason for that was that at the moment the Greene Farm wasn't a safe place as the Living knew of its locationat that point and could try to attack it once again when the first group that raided the farm didn't return with the spoils.
Once back at the farm, we started to discuss what to do about the situation with the Living who were clearly becoming a concerning issue as their activities in the area were becoming more and more frequent, even more so considering the fact that the Living wasn't actually a nice and friendly group, but a group full of scum and deranged criminals.
After some back and forth between the people who wanted to stop them or force them away to this area, the people who wanted to let them be as long as they didn't bother us, and the ones who understood both sides but didn't know what to do or how to face them because of the Living superior number and firepower, I decided to stop playing around wasting time that could be used in better ways and take the matter directly in my hands.
I informed them of my decision before taking the Cargo Truck and drove it to my destination, the Living's base camp in the area.
Sure, at first they tried to stop me saying something along the lines that it was too reckless to face them all on my own, but then I conviced them that I wasn't going to face them head on, but that instead I would use guerrilla tactics to bring down their numbers and scare them away from the area taking advantage of the nearby walker horde found in the area of Cranwall High School.
Of course, all that was complete bullshit on my part as I simply killed every last walker that could be found in the area of Cranwall High School before heading toward the Living's base camp and attacking them head-on.
In the end, I easily slaughtered every single member of the group without any hesitation or guilt on my part as I easily confirmed that not a single one of the people who were part of that group could be considered a decent human being.
Every single one of them committed all kinds of horrors and atrocities, and not because they were forced to do it, but because they wanted to do it and enjoyed the whole process, not a single one of them was truly regretful for their actions and the pain and sufferings they had caused as such, I simply didn't spare them.
After taking care of the Living, I quickly recovered everything that could be useful from their base camp filling the cargo bed before I calmly drove the Cargo Truck back to the farm and informed everyone that the Living was no longer an issue.
After that, another small period of calm and peace started and everything was proceeding exceptionally well.
The creation of the Tidal Wave Virus continued to advance with little to no obstructions, just some small delays caused by the human element of Dr. Edwin Jenner who from time to time got too excited about the constant progress and in the eagerness and haste to complete the cure and fulfill his late wife last wish he ended up making some careless mistakes, but I was already prepared for something like that to happen and as expected our procedures allowed us to fix the mistakes almost shortly after he made them.
The farm was fully running with all the fields thriving and producing enough food to not only feed the groups living in the farm and the C.D.C. but also help other people in need.
Talking of other people, a few new faces stumbled their way into the area searching for a safe shelter, some simply found their way to the farm, others stumbled on the Greene's Farm and were redirected here, and others were saved by Daryl and the others during their supply run.
After a throughout inspection to make sure that there aren't any questionable individuals from the "good cop" Rick and a few warnings to make sure that they don't step out of the line from the "bad cop" Shane, they were accepted into the group were they started to help with running the farm, at one point, our numbers grew so big that we also had to "claim" the nearby farms becoming a quite big community centered around the Lone Oak Farm.
Another good news was that with the arrival of new faces, among them there were also a few of them that were unfortunately bitten by the walkers and that didn't mind becoming a "test subject" for the radiation treatment against the bite that I came up with which, as expected, were mostly successful.
80% of the bitten people that we had treated were able to survive the bite without any other fatal consequences after taking a dose of Rad-X before the treatment with radiation and the RadAway after the treatment to clear the body of the radiations they had accumulated.
The 20% that didn't make it were the people who unfortunately received the treatment way too late to save them. From those failures, we understood that as long as not more than 24 hours had passed since they were bitten, the patients had a 100% chance of surviving the bite, which made things a lot easier for everyone.
But without any doubt the event I was most happy about was the success of my "side project", I'm obviously talking about my unappreciated work as a matchmaker between Glenn and Maggie.
The two of them officially became a couple shortly after the Living attack on the Greene Farm.
I immediately noticed the success when I returned to the farm after taking care of the Living, I couldn't help but notice the figure of Glenn walking around with a silly and content grin on his face, in fact, it was so obvious that I could almost hear his soul sing the song of the Lonely Island, I Just Had Sex in the background.
Another ship that unexpectedly sailed was that of Morgan and Carol, I don't know how exactly started but the two started to spend a lot of time together because of their kids, and soon one thing led to another making the two enter into an official relationship.
Another thing I did during this brief period of peace was sort out the things I gained from Goza's Soulbound Territory to make sure that there wasn't anything too dangerous before immediately putting everything in a Space Bag I created and giving almost everything back to Goza just like I did when I won against Nikita, after all, it would be like stealing and I don't like it.
The only thing I kept was a small seed that I immediately recognized as a seed of the Tree of Might, which I planted into my Soulbound Territory and left under the care of the Nymphs, of course before doing that, I asked Goza, he agreed without any hesitation as he even forgot that he had it.
But then as usual the period of peace ended when some people of our community were captured by the people of Woodbury which of course was the start of a series of events that sparked the conflict between the two communities.
Woodbury was home to more than 73 survivors due to the walls placed around the town and the strict rules set in place by their leader, known as The Governor.
The town operated by recruiting lone survivors, but captured members of larger groups and gained information on their camps in order to raid them for supplies.
Their leader's true name was Philip Blake and he was a cunning, manipulative, cruel, callous, savage, brutal, sociopathic, megalomaniacal, fearless, apathetic, stoic, psychopathic, and highly intelligent man who was a determined survivor and a strong leader to those in his group, and he was prone to fits of psychotic rage and this combined with his utter lack of mercy made him a dangerous person, and opponent.
He usually put on a facade of congeniality by making others believe that he was a kind, generous person dedicated to keeping his community safe.
In reality, however, he was a volatile, depraved, and unpredictable psychopath, very capable of cold-blooded murder, and also a smooth talker, being easily able to talk his way out of situations using his "charm".
He was also highly manipulative and thought nothing of using others and coercing them into doing his bidding.
The Governor was also completely obsessed with protecting the people he cared about, which meant himself and his dead daughter, and he attempted to accomplish this by taking charge of the group, and doing what was necessary for their survival, which mainly included killing anyone who was a potential threat to them without hesitation.
Overall, he was such a creepy piece of shit that even Merle Dixon, Daryl's obnoxious big brother was intimidated by him.
Talking about Merle, during the brief conflict with the people of Woodbury he reunited with Daryl and after a brief period he decided to betray the Governor and fully join us while still openly showing some hostility to Rick and Shane.
But without any doubt, the sight of Son Goza and I easily bringing down all of Woodbury's defenses, knocking out all the fighting, and me ripping off Philip Blake's head after revealing all his dirty secrets made Merle much more tame and willing to cooperate with them and the others.
On top of that, Merle also became much more mellow thanks to his experience as the sociopathic Governor's right hand which made him reflect on his previous actions and attitude, so even if still a little wary of him the other people in the group slowly started to accept him.
Anyway, after we had shed light on what kind of monster Philip Blake was and took care of him once and for all, the people of Woodbury decided to join our side.
With the massive increase in manpower brought by the people of Woodbury, our group started to actively search out and help other smaller communities in our immediate surroundings giving them relief food, helping them with walker threats, or taking care of hostile groups like bandits, crazies, and cannibals, taking care of the wounded, overthrown crazy tyrants, leaders, or oppressor like we did with Woodbury, and so on.
Then once those communities got back on their feet, they fully joined our growing network of allied communities helping in the effort of helping others return to some form of normalcy.
Regarding the name of our alliance of communities, well, I pushed forward the name of The Sanctuary by explaining to them that our objective should be to create a safe place for everyone to live a grown, but that is only the tear-jerking explanation I gave them, the true reason why I pushed that name forward was simply because I wanted to honor the place that is my second home and that made me the man I'm today.
Luckily thanks to my massive influence and the fact that the other people liked the idea, everyone did vote in favor of the name The Sanctuary for our expanding alliance.
After deciding the name of the alliance of communities, our area of influence slowly started to grow to the point that more than half of the state of Georgia fell under our control, and with that, the rumors of our alliance of communities's success started to spread thanks to our scouts spreading the word causing distressed people from other states to migrate to Georgia and join us in the hope of better life.
Among those people, there were a few notable groups that joined our alliance with some of them living on the farm.
The first one is Tyreese's Group, the group under the leadership of Jerry, a former prepper, Sasha Williams a former firefighter, and their leader Tyreese Williams, Sasha's older brother and a former NFL player.
Soon after the apocalypse began, Tyreese and Sasha rushed over to Jerry's bunker and stayed there for seven months before leaving after there were no more supplies.
The two would then come across a large group of survivors and meet Allen, Donna, and Ben but then the camp they were staying at was overrun and they were forced to escape.
The small band of survivors would travel for six weeks straight before coming across one of our scouts by chance and learning about our alliance and the Lone Oak Farm, and then, after the usual procedures to check the mental state and overall attitude of the people they were all accepted and joined.
The second notable group was one under the leadership of members of the U.S. Army Reserve that survived the fall of Fort Benning, the ex-soldiers Pete Dolgen, Mitch Dolgen, and Alisha.
It was composed of around 20 people and among them, there was the Chambler Family composed of the seriously ill David Chambler, a former Army Veteran with lung cancer, his daughters Lily Chambler, a former Oncology Nurse, and Tara Chambler, a former Police Academy Student, and his granddaughter Meghan Chambler a 7 years old girl.
When the outbreak first began, David drove his food truck to pick up his daughters and granddaughter from their work and school and the family was able to survive off of the non-perishable foods that were in David's truck at the time, but soon David's condition got worse and they were about to find a place to take care of him, but then they met Pete, Mitch, and Alisha's group on their way to the alliance area of influence which promised a safe heaven and decided to join them.
Of course, as soon as I learned of their arrival, I quickly moved to take care of David's cancer as I remembered that he was a caring and selfless man, who did what he could to protect his family, so I didn't hesitate to help.
It was quite easy as now that the Random Battle is over, I can easily return back to my Soulbound Territory and use my Spiral Cosmo to create everything I need without wasting too much time.
Needless to say, the Chambler family was quite shocked and grateful for my effective treatment of what they thought was a death sentence.
The last notable group that joined our alliance of communities was Abraham's group.
The group first formed after Abraham's family was devoured by walkers, and Eugene was running away from three walkers pleading for help, and after getting help from Abraham he lied and said that he was on a special mission.
He told the group that he was a scientist who could reverse the effects of the apocalypse, because of that they had traveled from Houston to get to Washington, D.C. losing many lives in the attempt to get Eugene to Washington.
Needless to say, Abraham was pretty pissed when we revealed that Eugene wasn't actually a scientist and that he didn't know how to reverse the effects of the apocalypse, but calmed down once he learned about the result of my work with Dr. Jenner, the cure for the walker's bite, and was really ecstatic when he learned about our progress in creating a complete cure that didn't hesitate to join our alliance to ensure the security of the various communities under the protection of The Sanctuary.
Shortly after Abraham's group joined The Sanctuary, I had to stop everything I was doing, leave the farm, and rush back to the C.D.C. with great haste.
The reason for that was that after months of careful but constant development, the Tidal Wave Virus was finally complete and now it was finally time to enter the testing phase to make sure that everything was exactly as I envisioned.
As soon as I arrived at the C.D.C. I was greeted by an excited and hopeful Dr. Jenner and then, after some minimal pleasantries we rushed into the labs and started to prepare for the various testing phases.
The first test was conducted on a group of walkers separated into small isolated spaces to make sure that the Tidal Wave Virus can at the very least attack and devour the Wildfire Virus within the walkers' bodies when directly injected into them and also to monitor how long does it take for the Tidal Wave Virus to take effect.
Once we have prepared all our test subjects, we inject a dose of the Tidal Wave Virus into their bodies and carefully monitor them waiting for the result.
For the first hour or so nothing happened, but then all the test subjects started to collapse on the floor unmoving like the decayed corpses they were.
Seeing this initial success, Dr. Jenner started to celebrate before I quickly told him to refocus himself as we still had to take the samples, study them, and continue to monitor the test subject to make sure that all traces of the Wildfire Virus were truly gone.
The samples of the walkers' tissue we took were completely free of the Wildfire Virus presence, and after monitoring the corpses for more than 48 hours nothing changed, they didn't start to move again, but to be completely sure, we waited 48 more hours and then once again we took samples and analyzed them, but the result was perfectly the same, there was no trace of the Wildfire Virus whatsoever which meant that the Tidal Wave Virus worked as intended and completely eliminated the Wildfire Virus.
With this first resounding success, we took one day of well-deserved rest before we moved on to the next phase of the trials.
For the next test, we gathered another group of walkers, but this time we left them all in the same room instead of the isolated spaces of the previous test, and more importantly, this time we injected only a single walker with a dose of the Tidal Wave Virus so that we could actually test if the virophage can spread as intended.
Once again nothing happened in the first hour after the infection, but then the infected walker collapsed on the ground while the other walkers continued to roam around.
At that point, Dr. Jenner started to become anxious about the possibility of failure, but I kept reminding him to not be too hasty in his judgment and to wait.
Then, after another hour or so the other walkers started to collapse on the ground one after the other, with some slight time difference between them, but not one walker survived.
Once all the walkers turned into simple corpses, we didn't waste any time and quickly started another round of samples gathering and analyzing and once again confirmed that the Tidal Wave Virus worked exactly as intended, at least on the walkers which was already fantastic news.
After we thoroughly tested the Tidal Wave Virus on the walkers, we moved on to test it on human test subjects, for that, we asked for a few brave "willing" people from all the communities affiliated with the Sanctuary, of course, I'm talking about criminals that were captured and imprisoned in the reclaimed West Georgia Correctional Facility.
After all, even if at that point I was completely confident that the Tidal Wave Virus would work perfectly as I envisioned, I still had to prove it to Dr. Jenner and the others, and using human test subjects is always a frowned upon but necessary procedure and using killer, rapist, and other deranged criminals makes it much easier for everyone's conscience.
Once the "willing" test subject arrived at the C.D.C. we didn't waste any time and quickly started to make them go through the various tests using a similar procedure to the one we used on the walkers and as expected all the tests passed with full marks as one hour after the injection of the Tidal Wave Virus the presence of the latent Wildfire Virus is completely gone from their bodies.
But since that time we were testing the Tidal Wave Virus on living humans we kept them under observation for much longer to make sure that there were no mishaps which prolonged the testing period by a few more months, and then, once we ensured that there are no hidden dangers, we didn't waste any more time.
We announced what was about to happen to all the communities affiliated with the Sanctuary and then literally released the Tidal Wave Virus in the world through as many means as possible.
Then everyone waited with bated breath until a few hours later the walkers started to quickly collapse like puppets whose strings were cut.
After a few moments of tense silence, the people finally realized what happened and started to loudly cheer, roar, and cry as they finally realized that the nightmare they had been living had ended.
Then the celebration started in full blow all over the communities affiliated with the Sanctuary, especially at the Lone Oak Farm where Dr. Jenner and I were fully treated and celebrated as heroes.
At that point, during the party, I informed everyone that after the party I was going to leave to return home, followed by Son Goza who said the same which made many people sad, but in the end, they decided to say goodbye in the most partish way possible.
"Everyone has fallen asleep... I think this is a good time to leave."
I snap out of my remembrance as I hear Son Goza's voice, then get up from the rocking chair, and looking at him, I say, "Indeed... I did everything I could with the limitations imposed by this universe. What happens next depends on them."
After saying that, I open a portal to my Soulbound Territory and step inside with Son Goza, then once there, I take advantage of the Seed of Culture of the Dragon Ball Universe and use it to leave this universe in favor of one of the most famous and popular universes ever created, the legendary Dragon Ball Universe.
