BARBIE AND THE UGLY DUCKLING: SEASON 1

Chapter 9: EPISODE EIGHT: LOW SELF-ESTEEM.

Barbie's POV

"Get out of my life please. At least I was fine before now. Please hang out with the people that are your standard okay!". These were the words of Griz.

As upsetting as it looks, I wasn't upset at Griz rather, I was angry with my class.

"Where did she go". Chloe asked me as she panted. She must have chased after Griz like I did.

"She ran home". I said and walked out.

The moment I stepped into my class, I glanced at Nikki and her girls. I was about to say something but Miss Wendel barged into the class, intending to teach History.

I sat down on my seat, and opened my text. As she began to teach, all I could think about was Griz and everything she had been through emotionally.

"Barbiee, Barbiee, Roberts!". Miss Wendel yelled and I realized I had been absent minded.

"What are you thinking about and where is Griz". Miss Wendel asked and glanced at the empty seat beside me.

"She's probably somewhere crying". A blonde girl said. I obviously don't know their names because I just got into the school.

Hearing this girl's sassy comment, I folded my fist and stood up.

"Uh! Unbelievable". Nikki said and shook her head.

I felt like I was about to explode. "What did you say?". I asked.

"I said you are unbelievable. Honestly, I thought you were someone of high status and was willing to give you all my respect but you messed up big time". Nikki said and her girls nodded.

That was it my bomb's timing had elapsed. "You are indeed one of a kind Nikki. You think you are perfect but the truth is you are just like Griz". I told her.

"What are...". She tried speaking but I interrupted her. Like I said the timing had elapsed.

"Let me speak. Do you know the reason you go all under that makeup, wearing uncomfortable clothes and shoes, you could even have an eating disorder in order to look fit. The reason is because you have low self-esteem. So, what makes you different from Griz. Griz is herself, she doesn't apply too much makeup, she wears what suits her, she's so good at art but she never stands up for herself and ignores all your abuses".

"Barbiee". Miss Wendel called out but I wasn't in the mood to listen to my elders.

"Nikki, you know that the reason you pick on Griz is because you admire her. She doesn't need to go through all of the processes you go through to look pretty and, the rest of you that continued in the trend set by Nikki aren't exempted. You all have low self-esteem, that is why you can't say the truth even when it's obvious, and that includes you, Steven. Miss Wendel sorry for interrupting your class and also, I have somewhere to be". I said and stomped out of the class.

Ring! Ring! Ring! It was my phone. I looked at the caller ID. It was Griz's dad.

"Barbiee how are you?". He asked.

"I am good sir. Is Griz okay?". I asked.

"That's exactly why I called. I saw her on the road running with tears in her eyes. She found out that I was dating someone and got so upset that she skipped dinner. I never knew it will lead to her skipping school". I felt like laughing seeing that what he just told me had nothing to do with Griz's attitude earlier.

"I'm on my way to your house". I told him and he hung up.

I got to Griz's house. As I walked in, I kept thinking about what to say to her.

"Griz! Griz! Griz!". I called out. I became scared. What if she felt so abased, that she had to commit suicide.

"Griz! Griz.....". Then it hit me that she would probably be at the basement painting.

I raced down to the basement but all I saw was splashes of paints on the floor.

"Griz!". I kept calling in fear.

"What are you doing here?". She asked me with a paint brush in her hand.

"I came to see you". I told her.

"Well, I don't want to see you". She replied emotionlessly and continued painting.

I glanced at her painting. It was her mom. Tears rolled down my cheek.

"Did anyone say anything about your mum". I asked.

"They indirectly said I flirted because I didn't have a mom. I feel torn Barbiee". She dropped her paint tools and looked at me.

"Hey, I'm not going to tell you that it is okay. Rather I am going to tell you this. Everything that has happened is your fault". I told her and swallowed my spit because her bomb was about to explode.
