Azur Lane: Savior

Chapter 74 – Gaze of the Storm

Greynar's fleet navigated slowly through the stormy weather, typical for the treacherous Bermuda Sea. From inside the command ship, the roaring storm made it impossible for him to venture outside. He assigned Enterprise to engage the enemy with close-range attacks, as the severe weather conditions hindered the effective use of her planes.

Enterprise obediently complied, demonstrating her prowess in close-range combat. As a carrier, she skillfully wielded her rigging bow, her movements fluid and precise. The skill she displayed is exclusive for her alone due to the amount of training and practice she had to do to perfect her control and patience. Another carrier girl pouted since she isn't as skilled as her but she is very confident on her skill to take command and strategic planning.

Saratoga received a small pat as the Commander trust in her capabilities as one of Eagle Union pillar to run the faction. Even though in every faction there's at least a KANSEN that took leadership on their own faction, Eagle Union doesn't have such which make the faction a unique kind to exist in Azur Lane. Greynar also knew that no matter what problem that appeared inside Eagle Union, Saratoga will always be the one who solved it and act as a leader.

As Enterprise finished dealing with the enemies nearby, she informed him. "Commander, all fleets are progressing smoothly, and are now advancing as planned to the central area."

"Good, let's advance further ahead," he looked around the area. "Also the further we are inside, the fewer Siren we are encounter, that makes the plan we discussed working as intended."

Victorious chimed in. "Or perhaps they are destroyed on the NY Harbor ambush." The goddess-like woman checked her staff to detect any enemy. "Whatever the reason might be, though, I'll gladly take it." She smiled when her staff found nothing.

"In fact, at the previous strategic meeting, there was a secret mission that was not announced." Enterprise reminded him.

"Yeah," he replied with a wry smile. "The additional plan was to investigate the mysterious ship that attacked the harbor."

Enterprise nodded. "That's also why North Carolina and Washington are with us. They appear to have seen this mysterious ship during their last excursion into the Mirror Seas. When that ship attacked the harbor, it was said that the silhouette of her riggings resembled my own..."

"A mysterious ship similar to you, Saratoga told me that before." Washington smiled widely. "I didn't took a glance at that person since i was busy dealing with the Sirens, but im sure her figure resemble you, Enterprise."

"Right, since all of us are assembled, it was no coincidence that you are also assigned to this fleet since you've seen her, Commander." Enterprise glanced at the command ship briefly, waiting for his response.

The Commander sighed. "Yes, i think this all has been planned for us to face her by the Azur Lane Command."

"Whoever the hell they are, they've fought back some of the elite Sirens. However, they clearly aren't on our side either." Washington commented. "If what Saratoga and Commander said about her being allied with the Sirens during their attack on NY Harbor is true, then we'll have to steel ourselves for a confrontation."

"We'll save this conversation later, i've detected some signal from enemies." Victorious' staff shone a little. "I can feel it on my skin, a mysterious power on the center that is trying to accumulate more energy."

"That means we are getting more closer to our objective, let's go!" Greynar ordered.

The fleets passed through the enemy line with ease, even though the Siren resulted in a dirty tactics like making a copy of their allies as the enemy, it was still hard for them to destroy them without any guilt or remorse. Enterprise thinning out their numbers with her agile and powerful physical attack. Victorious also used her staff like a mage in RPG which she summoned a special yellow beam to the enemy line from above. It was one of her dive bomber that used their connection on the staff to pour energy to the plane and transformed it into a light beam.

"Ugh.. Just when I thought they couldn't get any more tasteless..." Victorious silently grumbled.

In the distance there is a familiar figure, the one that they knew, Enterprise opened her eyes in wide as the figure coming towards them in a high speed.

"They're even sending a fake Hornet at us..." Victorious gritted her teeth.

"Enterprise... you don't have to force yourself. Let Victorious take care of this one." Greynar comforted her.

"He's right, she's just a copy of her real self, an empty husk without anything that makes her similar to your sister." North Carolina chimed in.

"Those bastards... This is why i despise the Sirens." Washington commented.

"That's right. Sister Sara also didn't like them, i'm also pretty angry right now." Saratoga could be heard almost tearing the floor down with her rigging.

"Don't worry, everyone, I'm fine." Enterprise gave them a comfort words. "Whatever it might look like, it's still just a puppet created by the Sirens. So i'm okay, their only purpose is to harm our loved one, so i don't have any regret on killing it."

"Alright if you say so," he shrugged.

Enterprise readied her bow and took a deep breath before moving towards the fake Hornet. "Enterprise, engaging in combat!"

In the deep underground, a figure burst through the labyrinthine corridors, their footsteps echoing through the cavernous depths, they finally came to a halt before a door guarded by two imposing sentinels. The pair, clad in an unfamiliar livery, stood tall, their hands grasping the butts of their guns, their eyes fixed intently on the panting figure before them. The air was heavy with tension as the guards' muzzles tracked the figure's every move, their silence a palpable counterpoint to the labored breathing of the runner.

"This is no place for you, get out." One of the guard said.

"No, i need to see her right now." The figure replied.

"She is under house arrest for opposing the orders, get out, you have no permission to see that person." The other guard said in a commanding tone.

"Damn it." The figure clenched his fist. "This is the matter of the survivability for humanity's future, let me see her!"

The two guards looked at each other, they laughed before the figure. "Don't think you're using that lame excuse will get us to let you see her. Her creation too... they are very dangerous if we let them be."

The figure closed his eyes. "Fine, you gave me no choice. Enterprise, plan B!"

"Right!" Another figure arose from the shadow as she apprehended the guards from behind quickly before they could react.

"F-fuck... Who are... You...." The guards struggled to break free from the restraint. "How can someone not from the Federation with a KANSEN?!"

"Me?" The figure went down and stared at the guard's eyes. "It doesn't matter for who i am, just know that you are trying to kill everyone by not letting me see her." He looked at Enterprise, "Throw them out to outside, they are no different from the higher up pest."

"Okay." Enterprise told the guards to stand up and move.

After she left, the figure turned to the door and knocked on the door. "Sorry for making you waiting doctor, we need your help for this one. The Magister plan has ascended to another phase, we need your enlightment regarding this risky move, your assisstant is also—"

The Commander suddenly opened his eyes wide. Greynar was still at his command ship, he looked back and forth and reached to his head. Saratoga was calling him out repeatedly on the communicator.

"Saratoga? Sorry i was blanking out due to this heavy weather." He immediately replied.

"Just tell us if you have something to say, okay?" She replied in worried voice.

"Yeah, sorry, and looks like Enterprise has finished the fight." He glanced at the two figure that are fighting, the figure stabbed their weapon to the other party.

Enterprise sighed as she walked back to the fleet. "It's over." She glanced behind again looking at the dead puppet. "Even if they're a fake, the thought of sinking my own sister is making me feel sick."

Saratoga grabbed her hand and brushed it. "Your sister is fine back on NY Harbor, she is under maintenance right now. If you want to, we can throw a party after this."

Enterprise smiled at her. "Thank you, Saratoga."

"By the way, did you guys heard about some conversation?" The Commander asked in curiosity.

"There is? I don't hear anything, what did you hear Commander?" Washington tilted her head.

"...No, nevermind." He shook his head.

"Well, it's certainly true that the disturbances in this area are making our radios go haywire. Ah, Commander, did aliens maybe send you a message?" Saratoga jokingly said.

Greynar chuckled. "Nice joke, but no. It's just something feels off, i can hear something."

"Me too... I couldn't hear anything, but something does feel off..." Enterprise looked around. "I can't shake the feeling... that I've seen all this before..."

"A Déjà vu feeling? I'm not getting anything of the sort though..." Victorious checked her staff as she also took a peek on the area around them.

'A déjà vu, huh? Another sense of familiarity i'm feeling, but... it shouldn't be possible.' Greynar silently thought.

Enterprise shook her head. "Let's go, everyone. We are already close to the singularity."

The fleets sailed along the way to the singularity but they were hindered by the violent storm and raging sea. Victorious especially tried to sent out her reconnaissance planes but they were shot down by the lightning storm on the sky. Even if they manage to send their recon plane as far as they could, it would still be struck and crashed to the waters.

"Urggh... The wind is too strong...! I can't launch my scout planes anymore!" Victorious announced.

"Sara can't either! Our flight decks weren't built for this kind of weather!" Saratoga grunted in the malevolent weather.

"We're almost there! Hold on a little longer and bring back all the reconnaissance planes. I've found the eye of the storm!" Enterprise said after her plane got struck, the last vision she saw is a big giant dome that looks like circling around something. "As long as we rush into the eye of the storm, from there, we can launch our planes again!."

"Trying to control our aircraft in this storm is... almost impossible!" Victorious said while trying to keep her eyes open. "Wait! I've found something, my planes detected a bucnh of Siren fleets coming towards us!"

"They must be our unwelcome welcome party!" Washington smirked "Let's go fight them head-on!"

"All fleets, prepare to take effective combat measure!" Greynar ordered while he used his monitor to count the enemy fleets.

The carriers called back all of their recon plane as they switched their gear to combat mode. Washington and North Carolina aimed their rigging above the sky and begin to fire their turrets to the enemy. Saratoga and Enterprise decided to do a combination attack with their plane as they charged through the enemy line with a fast movement.

Enterprise used her bow to stab one of the Siren destroyer and shot her arrow to the cruiser. Saratoga backed her up using her plane and swung her rigging to the enemy. Her rigging summoned several transparent plane that rushed to the enemy and crashed to the hulls. The Siren fleets stood no chance against the transparent plane as it was actually not a real plane but it caused a physical damage to the enemy.

Washington also rushed through the enemy line along with North Carolina. The battleships sisters used their armor-piercing ammo to the carriers behind the enemy line to prevent any plane being launched and caused destruction to the fleets. Victorious along with Greynar stayed behind, she provided an air support around the command ship to defend the backline of the formation. Her staff bore through the rain as it shine brightly under the raging storm. She smashed it to the water and and caused several submarine to explode underwater.

Enterprise glanced at the light and smiled, she knows that the Commander is save and turned to the big dome. She then proceed to go further to the enemy line and tore her path the eye of the storm. After she arrived, she looked around, the area around her was calm, the raging storm was nowhere to be seen and there, stood a figure beside a strange structure.

"Ah... That is..." Enterprise recognize the structure.

"Why are you here." The short-haired girl said.

Enterprise glanced at the figure, and was surprised. She finds the figure similar to her in someway or another. "Are you that mysterious ship that was mentioned."

The figure ignored her question and kept walking towards her.. "You aren't suppose to be here..."

"In the Mirror Seas, you rescued my ally, then you are involved in the Winter Crown incident. Now, you are leading the Sirens to attack NY Harbor..."

The figure stopped on her path, she eyed her with a strange look. "You..."

"...Answer me who are you?" Enterprise directed her sharp gaze at the figure's eye. "What do you want from me?"
