Azad: Isekai’ed Into Chaos

Chapter 11: Land in Sight

The sun beat down on Azad and Ellie as they sat on the small wooden boat, floating in the vast, endless blue of the ocean. The sky was clear, with only a few fluffy clouds drifting lazily across it. The gentle rocking of the boat had lulled them into an uneasy quiet. Their stomachs rumbled, reminding them that their supplies were running low.

Ellie sighed, pulling the fishing rod from the side of the boat and casting it into the water. "We're running out of food, and you don't look edible."

Azad leaned back, resting his arms behind his head, trying to ignore the hunger gnawing at him. "Thanks for the compliment. If we starve, I'll be sure to remind you of that when you're considering eating me."

Ellie rolled her eyes. "Stop whining. We're lucky we still have this fishing rod. Keep an eye on it, and when it tugs, be ready to pull it up."

Azad stared at the water, his stomach growling louder. "Can't you catch something faster? I'm starving."

"Fishing takes patience, Azad," Ellie said, giving him a sharp glance. "I know patience isn't exactly your strong suit."

"Right, because getting bit by a drowned really helps with my patience." He muttered, rubbing his butt. "Still sore, by the way."

Ellie stifled a laugh. "I told you, it doesn't work like that."

A sudden tug on the fishing rod snapped Azad's attention to the line. "Hey, I think we've got something!"

"Finally!" Ellie grinned, standing up quickly. "Pull it in!"

Azad grabbed the rod and started reeling it, his face brightening with anticipation. "I hope it's something big—maybe a pufferfish, or a swordfish, or—"

A small, wriggling cod flopped onto the boat, its scales gleaming in the sunlight.

"Or just another cod," Ellie said with a smirk.

Azad groaned. "Great. More cod."

"It's food, isn't it?" Ellie retorted, grabbing the fish and pulling out a small flint. "Now, let's cook it before you start complaining about hunger again."

Within minutes, they had a small campfire cooking the fish on the boat. The smell of sizzling cod filled the air, and soon they were devouring the fish, the warm meal easing the ache in their stomachs.

As Azad took another bite, he glanced up at the horizon—and then froze.

"Wait… Ellie. Look."

Ellie followed his gaze, her eyes widening. In the distance, a dark, towering silhouette loomed on the horizon. It was land.

"Is that—?" Azad started, excitement creeping into his voice.

Ellie grinned. "Land. Finally."

Without wasting a second, they turned the boat and began paddling toward the distant shore. The closer they got, the clearer the landscape became. The towering trees reached high into the sky, thick trunks wrapped in vines and their canopies were dense, dark green that cast deep shadows across the land. It was the jungle biome—a place both teeming with life and filled with danger.

As they neared the shoreline, the boat slowed to a stop, bumping gently against the soft sand. Ellie hopped out first, her boots sinking slightly into the wet sand as she pulled the boat ashore.

Azad climbed out after her, his eyes scanning the towering jungle ahead of them. "This place looks… intense."

The jungle was thick with massive trees, their trunks so wide that it would take several people to wrap their arms around them. Vines hung like ropes from the branches, and the air was humid, almost suffocating. Strange noises echoed from deep within the forest—the distant calls of birds, the rustling of unseen creatures in the underbrush. Giant ferns and bushes covered the ground, making it hard to see more than a few feet ahead. The entire place seemed alive, buzzing with energy and hidden threats.

Ellie nodded, her face serious. "This is the jungle biome. Beautiful but dangerous. We have to be careful—there could be anything hiding in those trees."

Azad swallowed nervously. "Like what?"

"Spiders, Creepers, Zombies, Skeletons hiding in the shadows. Not to mention the ocelots and parrots that live here. Some of them are friendly, others… not so much."

"Great," Azad muttered. "So, we finally find land, and it's crawling with things that want to kill us."

Ellie chuckled, though her eyes remained sharp, scanning their surroundings. "It's Minecraft. Everything wants to kill you."

They started moving into the jungle, carefully stepping over the thick undergrowth. The sunlight barely pierced through the dense canopy, casting the forest in an eerie green glow. Every sound made Azad flinch—a rustle in the bushes, the call of an unseen bird.

"Stay close," Ellie warned. "We don't want to get separated in here."

Azad nodded, glancing nervously at the towering trees and thick vines. "You don't have to tell me twice."

As they ventured deeper into the jungle, the air grew thicker, and the humidity became almost unbearable. Sweat dripped down Azad's face as he trudged along behind Ellie. The jungle was a labyrinth of vegetation, the path ahead of them constantly blocked by twisting vines and massive roots that seemed to come alive underfoot.

"How do people survive in a place like this?" Azad grumbled, wiping sweat from his brow.

"They don't," Ellie replied. "That's why we need to stay alert. One wrong step, and we could end up surrounded by mobs—or worse."

Azad's eyes widened. "Worse than mobs?"

Ellie shot him a glance. "You'll see."

They pressed on, the jungle's oppressive atmosphere weighing down on them. The air was thick with the scent of damp earth and decaying plants, and every step they took was accompanied by the sound of rustling leaves and snapping twigs.

Just then, a loud hissing sound echoed from the trees above them.

Azad froze, his heart pounding. "What was that?"

Ellie's eyes darted around the dense foliage. "Could be a creeper. Or a spider."

"Spiders climb trees?" Azad asked, his voice rising in panic.

Ellie nodded grimly. "Yep. And they're faster than you think."

Azad gulped, quickening his pace to keep up with her. "Why is everything in this world terrifying?"

Ellie didn't answer, but her eyes were focused, scanning the shadows for any sign of movement. They were deep in the jungle now, surrounded by trees that seemed to reach up endlessly toward the sky. It was a beautiful, untamed place, but it was also filled with danger at every turn.

Azad shuddered. They needed to be careful—and fast. Whatever lurked in this jungle was watching.
