Awakening The Only SSS-Rank Class! Now Even Dragons Obey Me

Chapter 509: The Mysterious Canyon

After leaving the mountain range, Daniel used Fallen Step to teleport to the place where his Fallen had taken Drael.

For a brief moment, the world around him turned dark, and the next second, he found himself standing above a canyon. On the ground nearby, Drael was leaning against a dirt wall.

The rest of the Fallen immediately bowed upon seeing him. Daniel canceled their summons, then walked toward Drael, who had already regained consciousness.

"You alright?"

"Still alive."

"Good." Daniel nodded slightly, then stepped forward and looked at the enormous canyon ahead, a dark abyss with no visible end.

From up here, he could see the eerie sea lying to their right. It seemed that, in some parts of the canyon, there were paths that connected directly to the sea.

For some reason, when he looked into the canyon, an unpleasant feeling crept up inside him, the same unease he had felt back in the mountain range.

Still, since there wasn't any immediate sense of danger, he didn't pay much attention to it. He turned back toward Drael, who was now sitting on the ground again.

"Looks like we'll have to cross the canyon."

"We could fly over it and get out quickly," Drael said quietly.

"You wanna go now?"

"Yeah, no point wasting time. I've got enough mana to get us out of here."

"No problem," Daniel said. "But let me test something first." He stood up, and Drael followed behind him.

Both of them looked down into the endless depths of the canyon. A strange, indescribable feeling surrounded them.

Daniel summoned one of his Fallen, one that could fly and ordered it to soar above the canyon.

The Fallen spread its wings and rose into the sky, flying smoothly over the canyon without any issues.

Seeing that nothing happened, both Daniel and Drael sighed in relief. But just as Daniel gave the order for the Fallen to return

Boom!

A massive gravitational force appeared out of nowhere, dragging the Fallen downward. At that same moment, a skeletal hand burst out from the ground, grabbed the Fallen, and pulled it into the earth.

The cracked ground closed up instantly, as if nothing had ever happened.

"Looks like flying isn't a good option," Daniel sighed. Within seconds, another Fallen appeared beside him, the same one that had just been taken.

He canceled the summon, sending it back into the Spiritual Palace to rest. Meanwhile, both Daniel and Drael stared seriously at the canyon in front of them.

They had witnessed everything just now. Clearly, this canyon was far from normal, most likely filled with terrifying and powerful monsters.

Unfortunately, flying no longer seemed like a viable option. Even though it all happened in a single second, both Daniel and Drael saw everything clearly. For two people as sharp as them, it wasn't hard to reason out what had occurred.

It was gravity, that force had dragged the Fallen down. In other words, the gravitational structure of this canyon could reverse itself, something neither of them had ever seen before.

Still, one test wasn't enough to confirm everything, so Daniel summoned a few more Fallen and ordered them to fly above the canyon.

The result was clear: every time a Fallen tried to fly over it, the gravitational pull yanked them down, an incredibly powerful force, strong enough to possibly drag even a False S Rank to the bottom.

"What do we do now?" Drael's expression turned grim; it was clear flying was out of the question.

He didn't have the power to resist something equal to a False S Rank's force. The only real option left was to cross the canyon on foot.

"Guess we'll have to walk," Daniel said lazily. In truth, if he were at his peak, he could've easily ignored this gravity.

But right now, mana shortage was still an issue. Even though his mana reserves were full again, recovering them after use would be difficult.

If he didn't have to worry about mana, he could easily shatter this gravity using the Law of the Moon, maybe even reverse it. But that could only be done at night, when the moon was visible.

Even if he used all his strength to break through the gravity and fly across, there was still one problem, Drael.

How would he carry her? Picking her up sounded easy, but doing that would double or even triple the gravitational pressure he'd face.

Even if he succeeded in breaking the gravity, he'd have little energy left for flying out of the canyon, assuming no monsters attacked them midair.

Because this time, even his Fallen wouldn't be able to assist him above the canyon.

Considering all that, only one option remained: walking. That meant it would take twice as long to cross, and the chance of running into powerful monsters would be extremely high.

"We could try walking halfway and then flying the rest," Drael suddenly suggested.

"Not a bad idea," Daniel's eyes lit up. "That way, our chances of success increase, and we don't waste too much time here."

He was confident he had enough mana to break through the gravity and fly over half the canyon.

Still, there was one concern, the canyon's true size. From where they stood, the end wasn't even visible. He even used his spiritual senses, but it didn't help; he still couldn't see where it ended.

"Alright, since that's decided, we should rest for now. We'll move at night," Daniel said. He needed to wait until the moon appeared so he could use the power of the Law of the Moon.

Besides, even though he was at his peak, Drael was badly injured and needed some time to recover.

At the very least, at night, when the moon was out, he could use the Law of the Moon as well. Having the power of two Laws was always better than relying on just one.

And finally, he needed to talk with Drael about a few things.

"Until then," he added, glancing at Drael, "you owe me some answers… Drael."
