Chapter 632: The Invincible and Terrifying Legion!
An endless torrent of Silver Spiders, combined with a swarm of winged hybrid monsters, formed an overwhelming force that spread across the battlefield like a massive web, encircling the The Thorn Cage Hell legion.
"A wise man adapts to the times. Now, this is more like it, saves me from wasting my time."
Sterl watched the scene unfold with great satisfaction.
This mother body did not disappoint him. After sensing the threat from the The Thorn Cage Legion of Hell, it immediately gathered its strength, rallied its forces, and was prepared to wipe them out in one fell swoop.
Looking at this infinite flood of enemies, Sterl estimated that the The Thorn Cage Legion of Hell would likely be wiped out within half an hour, swallowed whole by the tide of monsters.
Of course, this was assuming Val, Goda, and the other deities did not intervene.
Against the ordinary monsters spawned by the mother body, divine-level strength would still be enough to cause absolute devastation.
However, the mother body had intentionally sent scouts to probe the defenses of The Thorn Cage Hell, so it had certainly taken this factor into account.
In the midst of the silver-white flood, several Silver Earth Wolves with enormous wings stood out conspicuously. Each of these creatures was enveloped in a mysterious gray energy that gave off an incredibly terrifying aura.
"This is bad. These must be the invaders' main forces!"
Val's eyes went wide in disbelief as he watched the scene unfold. Even though he was one of the most powerful gods of the Dark Gnome clan and one of the strongest beings in The Thorn Cage Hell, this sight was still something he had never encountered before.
The tidal wave of millions of creatures almost made him feel as if he were suffocating.
Suddenly, as if struck by a realization, he roared out.
"Everyone, hold back these insects! We cannot let these scum break through our defenses and disturb the Lord!"
With a single roar, he activated his Puppet Divine Authority, and immediately, several massive metal creatures, resembling rhinos, were unleashed onto the battlefield.
The Dark Gnome clan was exceptionally skilled in crafting various puppets. These colossal beasts were the Colossal War Beasts Val had created with the full strength of his clan after his ascension to godhood.
Each Colossal War Beast possessed formidable defense and vitality. With the blessing of the Puppet Law, their combat strength rivaled that of a deity who did not rely on divine authority!
With the addition of these hundred-meter-tall giants, the somewhat demoralized legion was immediately stabilized. Combined with the inherent aggression and brutality of the hellish creatures, this sight stirred their bloodlust.
The forces of The Thorn Cage Hell quickly found their morale renewed, ready to fight tooth and nail to protect their domain and prevent any disturbances to their lord.
With the roars of the Colossal War Beasts, fierce and menacing cries erupted, and the millions-strong army immediately charged toward the torrent of enemies.
At the same time, the Silver Earth Wolves honed in on Val, Goda, and several of the divine followers sent by Sterl.
The battle was about to erupt!
Moo!!
The Colossal War Beasts roared, stomping heavily and charging directly into the swarm of Silver Spiders.
Their massive bodies collided with everything in their path, trampling thousands of Silver Spiders into dust, while others were forcibly sent flying. The beasts tore open several gaps in the wave of spiders.
Behind them, the main force of the The Thorn Cage Hell army pushed forward through these breaches, engaging in fierce combat with the Silver Spiders around them.
Meanwhile, the terrifying thorns that had formed under the influence of the The Thorn Cage Hell's will transformed into hundreds of massive whips. Combined with the thorns' ability to penetrate souls, every strike dealt massive damage.
However, the Silver Spiders were not to be underestimated.
Each of them carried a trace of mysterious gray energy, which began to spread as the Colossal War Beasts destroyed more of the creatures. Gradually, the Silver Spiders became covered in a layer of gray mist.
This mist, like a parasitic maggot, fiercely corroded their bodies. Even the Colossal War Beasts, made from a precious metal found only in The Thorn Cage Hell, could not withstand the corrosion. The metal bodies of the beasts gradually sprouted horrific blood holes.
Additionally, many of the creatures that had been thrown aside and lost their mobility turned into pools of liquid, merging with other Silver Spiders, making them even stronger!
Sterl watched the fierce battlefield unfold. On the surface, it seemed that the Hell side was brimming with momentum, but it was being swiftly eroded and overwhelmed by an absolute disadvantage.
Just then, a shrill roar pierced the air.
One of the Colossal War Beasts suddenly had its legs completely eroded by the gray mist, and its massive body crashed heavily to the ground.
The next moment, the strange, hybrid flying monsters in the sky quickly aimed the three tail spikes on their bodies at the fallen Colossal War Beast.
On each of those tail spikes, a trace of the same gray mysterious energy gathered.
With a loud boom!
In an instant, tens of thousands of flying monsters released their tail spikes simultaneously. The tens of thousands of sharp needles, each carrying the same ominous gray mist, rained down upon the Colossal War Beast, completely covering its body.
The gray mist contained in those spikes instantly obliterated the Colossal War Beast's formidable defenses, piercing it entirely.
In an instant, tens of thousands of ghastly holes appeared on the body of the Colossal War Beast, and its aura rapidly faded.
A swarm of Silver Spiders enveloped the fallen puppet beast, and in the blink of an eye, its massive form disappeared, completely devoured.
The sight sent a chill down the spines of all the gods and demigods present. The Colossal War Beast's defenses were even stronger than their own, after all. It was a weapon painstakingly crafted by the God of Puppets, using immense effort and skill.
Yet, this powerful puppet had fallen so swiftly, as if it had never existed at all, leaving no trace behind. If it had been any of them... it was likely they would have met the same grim fate.
Even Sterl was a bit surprised. The creatures birthed by this Mother Body were clearly far stronger than the one in the Fourth Layer.
Especially these flying creatures. If a million of them fired in unison, even Sterl, without using Stellar Barrier or his invincibility powers, could only dodge their onslaught.
But Sterl was only surprised, not intimidated. With the power of Soul Prison's Eerie Eyes, he wasn't afraid of any swarm tactics.
How powerful these flying creatures were mattered little. All he needed to do was activate Phantom Purgatory, and everything in his line of sight would be destroyed!
"If I could command an army like this and deploy it on Alpha 8, it would be unstoppable. A god would fall before me, a Buddha would perish..."
A glint of sharp calculation appeared in his eyes.
After all, when Phantom Purgatory was activated, anyone whose soul was dragged into the Purgatory Space would have their physical body left paralyzed due to the loss of the soul's control. Read the latest on empire
If, during this time, he worked together with these creatures to launch an assault, it would be a harvest of souls, a veritable reaper of life!
Even gods would have no chance of surviving!
Unfortunately, despite everything, Sterl still hadn't figured out exactly what that gray energy was.
This power seemed to exist solely within these strange creatures. Once they lost consciousness or were completely annihilated, the energy would dissipate rapidly. No matter what methods were used, its trace could not be found.
To Sterl, it felt as though this power was not something these creatures controlled. Instead, it was as if they had only met certain conditions and gained the right to wield it.
In other words, this power merely resided within these insects.
With the addition of these millions of flying monsters, the The Thorn Cage Hell army began to collapse at a visible speed.
Countless sharp spikes, capable of even invading Divine Power, fell like a hurricane of torrential rain into the ranks of the Hell Legion, delivering a devastating, dimension-crushing blow.
Wherever the tail spikes landed, tens of thousands of soldiers were instantly killed. Their souls hadn't even had time to dissipate before being swarmed by Silver Spiders, who devoured them completely.
In just a few minutes, the Hell Legion suffered over a million casualties. Meanwhile, the silver-white flood of invaders pressed forward, as if in an unopposed domain, unstoppable and without resistance.
Val and Goda watched in horror, their eyes nearly popping out of their sockets. They wanted to rush in and stabilize the rapidly collapsing situation, but they were tightly entangled by the Earth Wolves, unable to break free.
They never imagined that the invaders' true power would be this overwhelming. The earlier assault, when compared to this, seemed like child's play.
The two of them looked back toward the rear, recalling Sterl's orders. They could only grit their teeth and desperately fight on. Val, in particular, threw every last one of his stored puppets into the fray, but even with his arsenal, there was no splash, no real impact; they were utterly ineffective.
Sterl calmly observed the scene, a slight raise of his brow.
"Heh, looks like the Blood of the Ancient One's followers marks still need more time to fully take effect."
He realized that although the two followers marked by him had sworn total loyalty, their thoughts still lingered on other matters—like their own kind, descendants, and so on.
But this was inevitable. The powerful concealment of the followers' marks meant they would evolve gradually. However, it wouldn't be long before they, like Boris and the others, would be fully centered around him, viewing everything else as irrelevant, worthless garbage.
A barely noticeable smile appeared on Sterl's face.
Intervening? Of course not!
He was deliberately waiting for this Mother Body to accumulate more power. The goal was to devour all the creatures in this layer of hell, to fatten the Mother Body enough so that he could gain even greater rewards.
Therefore, until he was satisfied with the outcome, he naturally wouldn't intervene.
Moreover, the deal he had made with the Will of Hell was to save Hell itself. As for these creatures… as long as some of their roots remained, the Will of Hell didn't care at all!
