Chapter 35: The Conditions For Saving The Uzumaki Clan

"Has this kid always been this talented?"
Mito set the document aside, leaned closer to Kaori, and asked softly.
"Yeah, he's always been like this once he got the hang of it! Pretty impressive, isn't he?" Kaori chuckled, nodding with a hint of pride.
"Remarkable! I envy you. If Nawaki were even half as smart as him, I wouldn't have to worry so much," Mito replied with a helpless shake of her head. She then handed two documents to Kaori and said, "Let's leave them to their discussion. Let's sign the covenant first."
"I've already signed and sealed it; only yours is left."
"Alright!"
Kaori immediately signed her name on both covenant documents and pressed her handprint. With that, each of them took a copy, and the agreement was officially finalized.
"Here you go—this includes the Flying Thunder God Technique, Tobirama's Water Style, and a large number of books on sealing techniques. Everything is here, so take a look," Mito said, handing over the scrolls.
Kaoriwaved a hand and stored them into her space-time gate without checking. "No need. If something's missing, I'll come find you later. It's not like you can run away anyway," she said with a smirk.
Mito's eyes narrowed slightly at the display. The spatial technique intrigued and surprised her. However, she guessed Kaori wouldn't answer even if asked, so she decided to let it go.
After a brief pause, Uzumaki Mito shifted the topic and asked, "Have the Uchiha received news about the situation in the Land of Whirlpools?"
"Oh?" Kaori raised an eyebrow, looking at Mito with a faint smile. "Of course, we Uchiha stay well-informed. Regarding Jinchūriki and sealing techniques, the other four great ninja villages seem to be planning a joint attack on the Land of Whirlpools to seize its bloodline and secrets."
"Why? Do you want us to help?"
"Yes," Mito replied directly without hesitation.
Kaori raised an eyebrow and said bluntly, "That's not part of our covenant. The ally of an ally isn't necessarily my ally. We can help, but it'll come at a price."
The survival of the Uzumaki clan was indeed beneficial to the Uchiha, but they wouldn't act for free.
"Of course," Mito said calmly, unsurprised. She had no objections. "Name your terms."
After all, the Uzumaki clan's predicament was a separate matter and shouldn't be confused with the alliance between Senju and Uchiha. Unless the Uzumaki clan and Uchiha signed an alliance themselves, nothing could be assumed.
"Hmm..." Kaori pondered for a moment before responding. "After this incident, the Uzumaki clan likely won't be able to remain in the Land of Whirlpools. Otherwise, the four major ninja villages won't stop their aggression."
She continued, "When that happens, the Uzumaki clan will probably relocate to Konoha or even directly integrate into the village, right?"
"Yes," Mito confirmed with a nod. "I plan to personally oversee this matter. Even if Uzumaki Akihime opposes it, I will ensure it happens."
She couldn't always stand guard over the Uzumaki clan. In the eyes of the four major ninja villages—and even some within Konoha—the Uzumaki were a tempting prize, a piece of fat meat everyone wanted a bite of.
Joining Konoha was their best option. It was the only way to ensure their survival.
Moreover, with the Senju clan currently weakened, the addition of the Uzumaki clan—both distant relatives and allies—would greatly strengthen their position and competitiveness.
It was a win-win scenario.
"After that," Kaori said, "I want copies of the Uzumaki clan's sealing techniques that don't involve bloodline secrets. In addition, I hope our three clans can initiate a mutual marriage alliance in the future."
She laid out her conditions without hesitation.
"Hmm?"
The earlier conditions were well within Mito's expectations, but the latter one caught her off guard. Even Tsunade, who had been discussing with Katsumi, paused and turned her attention toward the conversation.
"Why?" Mito asked in confusion. "I remember that while the Uchiha clan doesn't prohibit intermarriage among clansmen, you don't particularly encourage it either. Why would you suddenly propose intermarriage between Uchiha, Senju, and Uzumaki?"
Was it merely to strengthen the bonds between the three clans? Uzumaki Mito found it hard to believe.
"Haha! This ties into a secret involving the three clans," Kaori said with a knowing smile, glancing briefly at Katsumi. Then, turning back to Uzumaki Mito, she continued, "I came across something in ancient clan records. According to these texts, the Uchiha, Senju, and Uzumaki clans may share a common ancestor from thousands of years ago."
"The Sage of Six Paths!"
Mito and Tsunade were both visibly stunned. "Huh? Are you certain?" Mito asked, her voice tinged with disbelief.
The idea was almost mythological—Senju and Uchiha, who had fought for thousands of years, descended from the same ancestor? And that ancestor was the Sage of Six Paths? It sounded absurd.
"That's right," Kaori nodded confidently. She turned to Tsunade and asked, "Haven't you studied the blood cells of Uchiha and Senju?"
Tsunade shook her head immediately. "That's not really my area of interest. You're asking the wrong person. Orochimaru is the one fascinated by this kind of research," she said plainly.
"However, I understand what you're implying. You're saying that the bloodlines of the two clans overlap significantly and complement each other at a genetic level, correct?"
"This could indeed provide some evidence to support the claim that the two clans share a common ancestor," she added thoughtfully. "Honestly, I believe there's truth to what you're saying."
"But if that's the case, why did Uchiha and Senju become mortal enemies for over a thousand years?" Tsunade asked, her brows furrowed. "It doesn't make sense. What happened to cause such a rift?"
"Who knows?" Kaori replied vaguely, though she knew the answer well. She had learned the truth from Katsumi—the ancient feud between the two sons of the Sage of Six Paths, Ashura and Indra.
To her, it was a trivial matter blown out of proportion over generations.
"Even in modern times, brothers can turn against each other," she said casually. "After a thousand years, it's not surprising that such conflicts arose."
"That's true," Tsunade agreed with a nod.
"Alright, but what does this have to do with your proposal for intermarriage between the three clans?" Uzumaki Mito pressed, bringing the conversation back on track.
Kaori answered, "The ancient texts I read claimed that the Senju and Uzumaki clans inherited the Sage of Six Paths' Sage Body, while the Uchiha clan inherited his Sage Eye."
"Of course, after thousands of years, the bloodlines have diluted, and these abilities have weakened. However," she paused, "I wondered: if the younger generations of the three clans intermarried, could their descendants potentially inherit the strengths of all three clans? Could they possess both the Sage Body and the Sage Eye, making them even more talented and powerful?"
"If that's possible, it would benefit all three clans, wouldn't it?"
Inwardly, Kaori smirked. This wasn't just about strengthening the clans—it was also an opportunity to merge them into a singular influence under Katsumi's contract. By establishing marriage bonds, it would be far easier to bring all three clans into Katsumi's fold through the space-time gate.
Compared to gradually swaying the clans after rising to Hokage, this was a far more efficient plan. On the surface, the three clans could retain their structures and identities, but the deeper bond would be unbreakable.
"The combination of the three clans might produce children with immense potential," Mito said seriously, narrowing her eyes at Kaori. "You must have some basis for this claim, don't you?"
Although Mito suspected Kaori might have ulterior motives, she chose not to pry further. She understood the other woman wouldn't reveal everything.
Still, if the reason Kaori gave was even partially true, it was worth considering. After all, the proposal did offer mutual benefits—a true win-win situation.
