Chapter 3: Chapter 3 : Making Some Money
Looking at the black card, Leo couldn't help swallowing. He carefully looked at the old man in front of him. No matter how he looked at the old man, he didn't seem like someone who could own a black card.
But the black card was right in front of him. Leo said directly without hesitation, "Give me a price, but I sell this thing by the drop. As you've seen, my sister could stand up and walk with just one drop, so you should know how precious this is."
After Leo finished speaking, the old man was generous. He waved his hand and said, "Well, the doctor told me it would cost at least 4 million from the beginning to the end of the treatment. If your potion works, I'll give you double. How about 8 million for one drop?"
Hearing 8 million, Leo and Lia, who still hadn't figured out the situation, couldn't help but widen their eyes.
Especially Leo. He had only spent 3,000 system points for this bottle of White Jade Snail Saliva, and one point could be exchanged for 1,000 of the local currency. This meant that the bottle had only cost him 3,000 yuan, but now it was being sold for 8 million per drop! There were at least a hundred drops in this bottle.
Leo's body trembled with excitement.
The currency in this world was still very practical. The three of them had gone to a restaurant earlier and ordered two meat dishes, two vegetables, and soup for less than 30 yuan, which was enough for all three.
8 million was already an unimaginable amount for a family without supernatural powers.
At that time, Leo had borrowed 2,000 yuan just to pay for Lia's surgery.
Hearing the offer of 8 million per drop, Leo almost agreed immediately, but seeing the eager look in the old man's eyes, Leo realized that the potion's value was much higher than that. Pretending to be reluctant, he muttered, "But this potion was obtained at great risk, and it's the only bottle in the world, so…"
He didn't say directly that the price was low, but his meaning was obvious.
The old man, who had pulled out a black card, was clearly someone with deep pockets, and Leo wasn't worried about him being unable to pay more.
The old man caught on quickly and waved his hand. "Fine! A hundred thousand per drop! If it works, I know many people like me who need it. I'll even introduce you to them. How does that sound?"
Having been in this hospital for so long, the old man could tell Leo's family was short on money, so he was being generous. To him, this money was nothing.
Leo still pretended to hesitate before finally nodding. "Deal."
Now that a large sum of money was within reach, he knew it wasn't wise to be too greedy.
Leo carefully approached the old man and dripped one drop of the White Jade Snail Saliva into his mouth.
The old man's expression shifted from anticipation to surprise and then to shock. His eyes widened, and his eyeballs seemed ready to pop out of their sockets.
He felt powerful vitality coursing through his body, rejuvenating him and even beginning to heal old injuries.
But clearly, one drop wasn't enough for him. The old man said eagerly, "Give me more, quickly!"
His breathing grew erratic, and he could barely suppress his craving.
For the sake of the deal, Leo dripped another drop into the old man's mouth.
Seeing the old man's frenzied reaction, Leo began to worry about his mental state.
After absorbing the second drop, the old man still felt it wasn't enough. "I want more!" he demanded.
Leo hesitated but dripped a third drop. "This is the last one," he said firmly.
He was growing increasingly uneasy about the old man's behavior. Fortunately, three drops were enough to saturate the old man's body, and he stopped asking for more.
The old man's entire demeanor transformed. While his physical appearance hadn't changed much, he now radiated energy and vitality. The weakness from before had completely vanished.
"Hahaha…"
The old man laughed joyously, relishing a sense of comfort he hadn't felt in years.
Seeing him so happy, Leo stayed silent, watching as the old man got out of bed and moved around.
The old man then said with satisfaction, "Excellent. Give me your account details, and I'll transfer the money right away."
Leo glanced at Lia. He didn't have a bank account yet, so Lia provided hers.
The old man took out his phone, made a call, and shortly after, Lia's phone rang. When she checked her balance, her whole body started trembling with excitement.
"30 million!" she exclaimed.
Handing her phone to Leo, his face lit up with satisfaction as he confirmed the transaction.
The old man then pulled out a business card and handed it to Leo. "I'm leaving this awful hospital. Here's my number. Contact me directly if you're ever willing to sell more. Hahaha…"
The old man departed in high spirits. Leo and Lia glanced at the card and were stunned by the name and number on it.
"Benjamin Brown… This is the eighth-ranked powerhouse in our city!" Lia said, wide-eyed.
Leo was also shocked. He knew about the superhuman rankings in their city, but he hadn't expected this unassuming old man to hold such a high position.
Before they could process it further, trouble arrived. Opening the ward door, Leo saw men with malicious intent approaching them.
Realizing this was the debt collector the system had warned about, Leo decided he wouldn't run away this time. Now that he had the money, he wasn't afraid.
"You don't pay your debts, and you dare to cause trouble? You must have a death wish!" one of the men growled, signaling his gang to attack.
Before they could act, two creatures—a white jade cat and a silver light fox—leapt to Leo's side, their teeth bared, ready to fight.
"Did you awaken a beast-taming ability?" Lia asked cautiously.
Leo nodded, but both of them felt uneasy. The odds weren't in their favor with so many enemies.
But to their surprise, the white jade cat and silver light fox struck with ferocity, turning the tide of the fight in an instant.
