Awakened Earth!!

chatper 42: Mysterious fairy

"The others began construction the minute the twin mana reactor was installed. I just floated there in the vacuum of space, waiting for my mana to replenish. I looked at the fairy who hadn't disappeared along with the other spirits. 'So who are you?' I asked.

'I'm a spirit,' it simply smiled and said.

'You know what I meant. You piggybacked off my summoning to get here, and you're using your own power to maintain your existence in the material realm. Even for high-ranking spirits, that's difficult,' I pointed out.

The fairy smiled and said, 'I am of no consequence as to why I am here. I simply wish to observe. A space dungeon should be appearing on the edge of your solar system soon.'

'She says in a galaxy between 1000 and 10,000 space dungeons exist at any given time. Although that might sound like a lot, if you consider just how vast the galaxy is, you'll know how rare it is to encounter a space dungeon.'

'Oh, so there are even dungeons in space?'

'Yes, and the monsters are able to survive in the vacuum of space. Quite problematic, I see.'

'So we're basically building a battleground?'

'The life support bracelets can't be mass-produced, and the amount of mana they take is absurd,' 'Even though the bracelet has a much smaller life support barrier, the consumption of mana is astronomical. The bracelets only have enough mana for two days, and it would take the average person several day to recharge the bracelet. The biggest problem is that they're not exactly sturdy, so they're not suitable for combat. However, an island in space would give us the ability to fight creatures that could survive in space, and with the twin reactor being in the center of the island, it doesn't just allow us to easily defend it, but also the twin reactor itself makes the island constantly habitable, thanks to the life support barrier that can be maintained indefinitely.'

'Yes, a very effective battleground. This twin reactor is actually quite impressive,' the fairy said. 'Many creatures in the past have created mana reactors, with very few creating twin reactors. Not only is it due to the rarity of mana stones, to be that absurdly huge. I mean, you could probably come across one of those every thousand years, so you could create a twin reactor of that size every few thousand years or so. Of course, you could always try to create a smaller variance of it; however, mana reactors are extremely difficult to make, and a twin system is almost impossible.'"

"The twin reactor requires you to sync each mana stone to its own unique frequency. That way, they'll only absorb mana from the surrounding environment, not from each other. The fine-tuning needed to do that is insane, and given that one wrong move during the runedek enchanting process could cause the whole thing to explode, it's very rarely attempted, let alone successfully executed."
