Awakened Earth!!

chapter 45: Endless cycle

"A candle sat in the void of infinite nothingness, the infinite nothingness slowly consuming the flame of the candle until there was nothing left but an ember. From that ember, the candle reignited itself, growing brighter than before. This process continued, the darkness swallowing up the flame of the candle until nothing was left but an ember. Just as it would seem the ember would go out, it would reignite itself into the flame of a candle, and this candle would get brighter with each cycle. This was the visual representation of the strengthening of the soul, the unique Magic Rainbow flame transformation had. Turned her soul into a flame. Well, the soul really wasn't a flame; it could take many forms as it was just a mass of energy. Hers just so happened to take the form of a flame."

After a while, she stopped her training, her eyes observing that the island in space or the space station was now around a thousand kilometers in diameter. There was shouting from the people in charge of constructing the city at the center of the island. It seemed they wanted to call off her 'psychopathic fairy.' I asked the others in charge of the construction what they meant. It seems my fairy just used lightning spells to inflict pain. I turned to her and said, 'You do know material beings need rest, right?' However, she simply said that they had used up all their rest time by slacking off. They hadn't even finished nearly half of what they were supposed to. Looking at the area that was supposed to be a city in the center of the island, it was true; they should have already built at least half the city by now. They had all of the materials, and the city's blueprints were already done. This meant they could move straight on to construction, and many of these houses were just carbon copies. Construction by the use of magic means you can build a city in a few days, but it needed to be particularly sturdy, so it might take a bit longer. I would understand if they had everything constructed but not the defensive runedek enchantments in place; they really must have been slacking off to not finish.

Thanks to the fairy, I was able to train while also fulfilling my job. Now that the island has expanded to a diameter of thousands of kilometers, I'm finally able to take a three-month break. Of course, I informed the captain using my telepathy earring. The captain keeps supplying resources to the team in charge of constructing the city. I've cast a dimensional lock on the floating island in space, preventing the use of teleportation magic. They can use flight magic, but their barriers will deplete long before they reach Earth, essentially stranding them without the use of teleportation or an airship. I informed the captain that they'll be stuck there until they complete their job.

The city should consist of an outer wall; behind the outer wall should be a farming area, and behind the inner wall should be the city itself, consisting of accommodations and warehouses. The warehouses will stockpile materials to supply the army and make repairs to the city when necessary. The city should have some basic level of self-sufficiency in case it gets cut off from our supply routes during the upcoming war with space monsters.
