chapter 40: space
"We were now flying outside Earth's gravity field. I'm sure someone would mention that technically, Earth's gravity field extends infinitely, but once a certain distance is reached, it might as well be zero. Looking at Earth from orbit, the view is truly amazing up here. Now I get why people work so hard to become astronauts; it is totally worth it just for this outstanding view. Not just the view of Earth, but the stars. I know Earth's atmosphere makes them less visible, but the difference is truly something you won't believe until you see it with your own eyes. It's like going from 480p to 10K resolution.
After the ship flies far enough outside Earth's gravity field, we don't want our space station to plummet into Earth, after all. Strictly speaking, it will be orbiting Earth since the moon orbits the Earth, and it's pretty far away. Anyway, my job is simple; I'll be summoning high-tier Earth spirits to create an island in space. The other people are actually skilled craftsmen and other specialists who are setting up a base with the materials on the ship, which is being expanded by spatial magic. The only downside is probably going to be getting a few hours before we need to unload all of the materials onto the island that I'm going to create if we don't want the ship to explode because of the spatial magic wearing off. I'm still a few hours away from reaching the spot despite moving so fast, is the space station not going to be orbiting the Earth.
One person replied, 'Too much of a risk of it getting knocked off its orbiting path to Earth. We need to move outside of Earth's gravity well far enough so that we don't have to worry about the space station getting pulled into the Earth.' Someone jumps off the ship deck and begins floating in order to keep gravity from interfering with the ship's anit gravity propulsion system. There's a runedek enchantment: 1 g of gravity will act on your body. However, since you need to be touching the surface of the ship when the guy jumped up, he just started floating in zero gravity. The anti-gravity was being used even now to boost our speed. The individual is using flight magic to land back on the deck of the ship. The ship's life support barriers surround the entire ship, so even if on the deck is open, it's still a habitable environment."
"After a few hours of flight, we finally get there. It seems we're setting it up halfway between Earth and Mars. I guess if we want to colonize Mars in the future, this would be a good trade station between the two, as you could just go halfway instead of going back and forth. I smiled, retracted my wings, and flew outside of the ship. The minute I left the life support barrier, I felt cold. Damn, it's cold. Naturally, my body quickly adjusted to the cold temperatures of space. I didn't have any problems breathing. Ha, not like I actually need to breathe, or I'd probably be suffocating right now due to the lack of oxygen. People looked at me, shocked. 'How are you talking?' But then quickly threw me an item. It was an earring of telepathy. Telepathy is rather a simple magic, but the problem is all those annoying thoughts that go on in your head all the time are very difficult to filter out. That's why people prefer to use these earrings. They have a built-in filter system. Normally, if you engage in a telepathic link, you would probably hear all of their surface thoughts. Those that specialize in telepathy could filter out random thoughts. The majority of people have trouble doing so, and of course, you have to be a lot stronger and highly skilled to go beyond the surface level all the way down to the subconscious level."
