Chapter 52: Gates
I floated over the Fire nation capital looking at the expensive city in the large crater surrounded by spears of earth. Further down the mountain I could see Ozai's ship coming into harbor preparing to have him disembarked.
[Forsight added]
My vision enhanced as the ship seemed to get closer, yet I stayed in the same place. Ozai was currently on the deck surrounded by healers he had recalled from the tower. Ozai held his arm in pain and I could see the rot wiggling beneath his clothes. Looking further down the line of ships I spotted one less grand and significantly smaller than the others. On its bow was Zuko staring at the capital, holding the black compas that pointed his way home.
"That's disappointing. I had hoped he would think better of it but I guess the allure of home is too strong". To be honest I knew how he felt, given the chance I am not a hundred percent sure I wouldn't choose to go home as well, despite my gained power.
"Let's get this over with," I said to myself.
Looking down below me I saw the long and wide strip of brock road leading in as well as out of the capital. Most of the citizens had gone to the docks to see the fire lord and princes return.
[Would you like to place a gate?]
[yes/no]
"Yes".
Looking down I could see the air start to shimmer as the gate appeared on the road, starting from the bottom it slowly appeared. Moving up stone by stone the gate showed itself, its stones covered in complex runes I had placed. As soon as the entire thing was there the air in the arche began to bend and distort making a sort of grey line appear. Then with a loud bang it activated, it was a seamless portal letting others see into the tower, but none could see out.
"As nice as the capital is, I still need to place the gate at Omashu".

[Tower points: 39,723]
"Wow, what a high price," I said sarcastically. "Teleport"
The world blinked and then I was standing at the entrance to the royal palace in Omashu. The guards jumped at my appearance but quickly recognized me, no doubt Boomy had instructed them to treat me well.
"What can we do for you sir" one asked.
"Take me to king Boomy," I requested.
"Yes sir, this way"
The guard turned and walked into the palace with me close on his heels. He led me down hallways and stairs till we came to a place I vaguely recognized from the show. It was a room with a large pit in the ground turned cage for Boomy's pet. Looking around I spotted him playing with Hopsy. Jumping down I made my way over to him.
"Need something Tower Master?" Boomy asked cackling.
"I thought it polite to inform you that I am going to drop a gate outside your city"
"I thought I asked you not to place a gate here?"
"You said not in your city technically"
"Tusche, but you know what I meant"
"I do but I need to place these gates, and your city is on the top of the list. If your worried about invasions I made them so that people can only exit the gate they entered from"
"May I ask exactly why you decided to go against my request"
"Sure" I paused for second to collect my thoughts "It's mostly because I realised I shouldn't care"
"Explain"
"I am in charge of promoting the use of the tower, every place that has a gate will become a hub for trade and travel. Wherever I place one will quickly grow, making other cities that don't have one decline. Since we have an amicable relationship, I figured you deserved one"
"If I agree to this, I want my city to have their own guild"
"That is fine, every nation is allowed to sanction their own adventurer's guild and choose its leaders, the main guild in Gilded Spire will only check in to see if any biases or corruption is going on" I explained.
Sighing Boomy answered "Fine but let me find a place within my walls for it" he paused "In fact I already have an idea"
Following Boomy out of the castle we walked through the town, as we passed people waved and bowed to him. Despite his craziness he was still a good king who has protected his people for a hundred years. After an hour of walking we finally reached the outer walls.
"How bi is it?" he asked
Using my illusions I made a rough drawing of it on the walls.
"Will people come out on both sides?"
"No, that would defeat the purpose of a entrance or exit"
Squaring his feet Bommy made a sort of L shape with his hands then pushed out causing a large arch to separate from the wall and fall into the abyss moat below.
"Place it there"
Looking at him I said "Smart, wouldn't have thought of that".
[Would you like to place a gate?]
[yes/no]
"Yes"
The process started again with the air shimmering and the gate slowly appearing.
"I suggest you plug your ears" I commented.
"What was that?" Boomy asked.
Before I could answer a resounding Boom! Came from the gate as it was fully activated deafening people near us as well as the king.
"Should've warned me sooner" Boomy yelled.
"Sorry It doesn't really affect me so I forgot" I yelled back.
It took almost thirty minutes for Boomy's hearing to come back completely, I would have healed him but him yelling to talk to people was amusing.
"How about you stay for dinner?" he asked.
"I would like to but I have to go to the Northern watertribe next" I explained.
"Are you giving one to the fire nation?" he asked skeptically.
"Yes, as much as I think Ozai is an ass the tower is for all nations and the fire nation capital is their center of commerce"
"Well, I hope to see you again sometime"
"Same"

My world blinked once again, transporting myself to the northern watertribe. Once I arrived I used magic to quickly change into my northern water tribe clothes even though the temperature doesn't bother me the clothes are quite comfortable. I spent some time walking through the city before two guards recognizing me directed me to the palace.
"Tower Master Callum it is good to see you" Arnook welcomed walking out of the palace entrance.
"I have an opportunity for that you can't deny"
Obviously intrigued, he invited me and led me back to his study where I first met him. Sitting down across from him I pulled out the gate blueprints, setting them on the table.
He took a moment to observe them then asked "What is this? It's an impressive structure but what is its purpose"
"You have seen me teleport, yes?"
"I have"
"Father what are you doing back in here"
Turning around at the expected voice I saw Yue for the first time, Her pale blue eyes and tanned skin contrasted well with her white hair. In fact she is the first person elf or otherwise to have hair as pale as my own, though mine still had some blond streaks in it.
Standing up I slightly bowed "Princess Yue, it is nice to finally meet you. I am Tower Master Callum"
Her eyes widened at my introduction then she bowed a bit as well "I have heard much about you and the tower though I regret I haven't been able to see it myself"
"Well that may change here today" I commented.
"What do you mean?" she asked.
"Why don't you join us?" I gestured to another chair.
She looked to her father who gave a nod and then as quick as a mouse sat in the chair bringing it closer to the desk.
Looking at the papers she "what is this"
Sitting back down I said "I was just about to explain"
"Yes, please go on," Arnook said.
"As I was saying this is a gate. It allows anyone to instantaneously travel from it to the tower itself and back again"
This time both their eyes widened and Yue asked "Really? That seems quite impossible"
"It was until relatively recently, I have already installed them at the fire nation capital and Omashu. You guys would be the third city to get one"
"You are working with the fire nation?" Yue asked with obvious disgust.
"I hate to break it to you princess but the tower is for everybody, just as you guys send your warriors there so does the fire nation. Everyone is welcome in the tower as long as they behave"
"But they are monsters and butchers," she argued.
Fortunately her father intervened "what she means to say is that they caused the war, they have been the cause of much pain and suffering"
"And I know that but as I have said, everyone is welcome. Though if I am correct in the last two years the fire nation has pulled back on their attacks and military efforts"
"Yes," Arnook agreed.
"That is largely because they have been focusing on the tower and making their people stronger, just like every other rnation is currently doing"
Yue was about to say something but a hard glare from her father quieted her.
"This seems like a great opportunity. Where would you like to place it?"
"An acquaintance has recently shown me that it would be good idea to integrate it into one of your walls"
Arnook thought for a second, then stood up grabbing a scroll from a shelf. Sitting back down he opened it and pointed to a spot along the large circular wall surrounding the initial part of the city.
"How about here?" he said.
"That could work, you would just need to clear out an area in the wall for it" I explained.
"That can be done," he said, walking out of the room. A few moments later he came back without the map "While that is being done would you like to stay for dinner?"
"Not this time, I just want to place the gate and leave. I have some plans I need to make"
"Plans?" he asked.
"I think it's about time I visited Ba Sing Se"
