Chapter 4: Strength!
— Some time later, within a separate room of Falazar's large mansion —
"You can stop sticking things in my mouth," Knox said, swatting at the hand in front of him. "The only thing you're going to find in there are the remnants of what I ate before being proclaimed dead. I don't know about you, but I think that might give you a disease."
"Eldest Young Master, I'm just following the orders of Count Falazar," said a middle-aged man in an old-fashioned doctor's coat. "Forgive me for not obeying your wishes."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever," Knox rolled his eyes. "Just stick it in and finish quickly. I want to test out my arms and legs as soon as possible. There's also this cultivation thing that everyone's been raving about. You just know I have to try it."
"Yes, Eldest Young Master…" the doctor agreed unenthusiastically as he resumed his consensual fingering session.
— After enduring for a few minutes —
"Alright," the doctor finally said, retracting his hands from Knox's anus. In his hands was a bigger-than-average metal rod. "That concludes the physical check-up. Concerning your health, I'll be reporting to the Count that everything is as it should be."
"Gee, thanks, Doc," Knox said sarcastically as he pulled up his pants and turned toward him. "Without you probing me with your rod, I never would've been able to walk again. But now look at me—good as new!"
He scoffed lightly before walking away from the probing table, exiting the room, and making his way down a long, empty hallway.
Or at least, he wished it were empty…
Unfortunately, a familiar presence was waiting for him—one with a bad case of crazy eyes.
Standing in the middle of the corridor was a woman with long, slightly curly pink hair and hazy purple eyes. Her figure was impressive—better than most supermodels on Earth. However, neither her striking beauty nor her killer physique made up for her terrifying personality.
"My love!" she exclaimed as soon as she spotted him.
Knox, meanwhile, immediately hid his face behind his hands and walked awkwardly in the opposite direction.
"You can actually walk!" Cela continued, completely ignoring his attempts to escape. "I prayed for years that this day would come to pass, but to think it really did happen!"
At first glance, one might assume she was a concerned lover of Knox's highly sought-after self. But appearances could be deceiving…
"Well, my Knox," she whispered, her hands piously interlocked and her heavy, heated breath making the hair follicles on his neck stand on end. "Those last maids who got a little too handsy with you have already been… taken care of! This means that we can finally be together!"
"Sorry," Knox said, pushing her kissing face out of the way. "I have a fiancée now, which means you and I won't work out. But listen, Cela, with your hotness and that, uhmm… affectionate personality of yours, I'm sure men will be lining up for miles just to get the chance to be with you. Keep your spirits up, girl! Girl power for the win, yeah?"
With a casual boop on her cute button nose, Knox skedaddled out of there. Large beads of sweat rolled down his face as he turned several corners. Only after ensuring that he wasn't being tailed by his crazy stalker did he exhale a breath of relief.
Leaning up against a wall, Knox caught his breath. Looking down at his jiggling legs and feet, the reality of it all finally seemed to sink in.
He could move.
He could actually f*cking move!
He was no longer a cripple!
It had taken hundreds of thousands of years of painfully dying and the loss of most of his sanity, but he had finally accomplished it.
A cripple no more.
"I have a good feeling about the days to come," Knox muttered, wiping the sweat from his forehead. Then, a dreadful thought struck him. "Wait… I didn't just jinx things for myself, did I…?"
[I don't know,] the System chimed in, grinning. [Check your balls. Are they still there?]
"!!!"
Knox immediately stretched out the bottom half of his dragon-adorned robe, panic setting in. Fortunately for his future wife, his sleeping anaconda and golden jewels were still safe and sound—tucked away securely within his robe.
[Big words coming from such a 'small' man!]
[(¬ᴗ ´¬ )]
"Don't you have an off button for your voice or something??" Knox grumbled, brows furrowing in annoyance. "If you do, then I command you to turn it off."
[Yeah, and I command you to stop being such a whiny b*tch, but seeing as neither will happen, you should stop asking for the impossible.]
"...."
Choosing to ignore his obnoxious System, Knox returned his attention to reality. It was then that he noticed his surroundings. Somehow, his wandering had led him to the Training Area of the mansion's vast backyard.
Numerous family members were outside, practicing their martial arts under the blistering heat. They seemed fully immersed in their training, driven by the sole goal of becoming stronger.
Conveniently ignoring the explosive eruption of pinkish-purple aura from where he had just been with Cela, Knox's golden eyes gleamed at the sight before him.
All these people—practicing martial arts—it was a mesmerizing thing to see.
"Even from all the way over here," Knox murmured, his long raven-black hair wildly blowing in the wind, "I can feel the force of their strikes against the wooden dummies. To have such power…"
It was at that moment—shortly after regaining the ability to function like a normal person—that he realized what he truly wanted.
Strength.
