Chapter 116: Chapter 115 The Experiment's Aftermath
The titan lay subdued, its limbs rendered useless, and its jaw entirely removed to prevent further resistance. Ryo stood calmly, brushing the blood off his hands as if the entire ordeal had been little more than a warm-up. Around him, Hanji and her team of researchers scrambled to collect data and ensure the titan was restrained properly.
"Thank you for your hard work, Ryo. You've been a huge help today!" Hanji approached him with a bright grin, holding a towel and a fresh set of clothes.
"Heh, Captain Hanji, you're too polite," Ryo replied, taking the towel to clean himself off. "Instead of a simple thank-you, how about giving me something more substantial?" His tone was teasing, but there was a glint of frustration beneath it. After all, the effort he'd put in seemed to outweigh what he was getting back.
Hanji chuckled mischievously. "Well, our research team has a variety of titan specimens and materials. How about I pack some up for you as a token of appreciation?"
Ryo rolled his eyes at her offer. "No thanks, Captain. I'd rather not bring any of that filthy stuff home."
"Really? That's a shame," Hanji said, dragging out her words. Then, with a sly grin, she added, "Unless..."
"Unless what?" Ryo asked warily, his brow furrowing at her mischievous tone.
"Unless I offer myself as repayment. What do you say? I'm only a few years older than you. Surely, that's a tempting offer, right?" Hanji nudged his shoulder playfully and leaned in closer with a teasing smile.
Ryo's eyes widened in alarm, and he jumped back as if she'd just unleashed a titan on him. "Stop joking, Captain Hanji! You should focus on studying your titan. I'd rather not end up as one of your experiments!"
Hanji laughed loudly at his reaction, clearly enjoying his discomfort. "Oh, don't worry, Ryo. I'm very gentle!"
Ryo waved his hands furiously, already retreating. "Nope, I'm out! You guys carry on—I've got other things to do. See you later!"
Before anyone could respond, Ryo turned and made a hasty exit, putting as much distance as possible between himself and Hanji's antics.
Watching him flee, Hanji smirked and muttered to herself, "This kid… Am I really that scary?"
Behind her, her subordinates exchanged glances, unsure whether to nod in agreement or pretend they hadn't heard anything.
