Chapter 22: The Reckless Parasite
It was a new day at the university, and it was time for the second class with Professor Tamiya. Everyone was working on the assignments written on the board except Dekim, who had been summoned as a witness by the police regarding the disappearance of the iron bag.
A paper ball was thrown towards Izumi to grab his attention. "You took the bus last night, didn't you?" said Satomi, one of the students in the class.
"Where did you go? Morano was worried about you," Satomi added, using her book as a shield to hide from the professor's view.
"Nowhere important," Izumi replied before continuing to write what was required.
Suddenly, the professor stopped writing, even though she held the pen in her hand...
"Izumi, we're under attack; I sense a murderous intent from him," Migi said, peeking out stealthily at the end of Izumi's shirt like a Dobby eye.
"Huh?!" Izumi replied, not comprehending what he was hearing.
"Professor, what's wrong?" one of the students asked after noticing the professor had stopped writing.
The professor turned, her gaze directed towards the window overlooking the university walls, and said, fuming, "Fool!"
The man entered and began smashing the security cameras at the entrance. His first victim was a security guard, found by the administrative officials slumped over his desk, blood streaming from his head.
"What happened? Are you okay?" one of the officials asked.
"There... intruder..." the guard pointed weakly with his finger.
"Call the police! Evacuate the classrooms!" shouted one of the officials.
"You will now engage in self-study," Professor Tamiya said to the students in the classroom, shooting Izumi a glance as if she wanted to say something to him.
"Who is behind this attack, Migi?" Izumi asked, struggling to see where Migi was.
"Most likely the man we met yesterday, the one who was with Professor Tamiya," Migi replied.
The man continued to advance through the university building, entering any place he desired, and every attempt to thwart him ended in failure.
In one of the building's corridors, three student affairs officials surrounded the man. One of them, bold enough, stepped in front of him and tried to stop him. "Where do you think you're going?! Who allowed you to enter? Come with me!" said the official before grabbing the man's arm, intending to escort him out of the building.
The man's reaction was deadly; he twisted his neck and struck the head of the official who dared to touch him. One blow was enough to send the man flying from the first floor, crashing through the glass barrier.
The man returned his neck to its normal form and swiftly transformed his head into sharp blades, using them to decapitate those behind him.
"He just removed three obstacles," Migi said.
"You mean he killed people?" Izumi replied.
"I'm not sure, but he's a rebel, eliminating every obstacle in his path," Migi said.
"A knife! Oh my God... the intruder is armed with a sharp weapon," said the building manager, arriving to find the decapitated victims.
This is an emergency! There is an intruder in the building. All students must follow their teachers' instructions and evacuate all classrooms in groups... I repeat, there is an intruder in the building...
(This was the sound of the university's internal loudspeaker.)
For the first time, the loudspeaker was used for such a purpose, and panic and terror swept over the students after hearing the alarm. The supervisors struggled to control the large number of students and reassure them. The sound of their conversations rose, creating a noise within the building and escalating the confusion.
"Damn it! I can't believe he's doing this in broad daylight and in a place like this," Izumi said, lamenting the decision the man had made.
"He made a choice lacking precision and contemplation. He's overly optimistic about the opportunities available to him; he doesn't resemble Professor Tamiya at all," Migi commented on the attack launched by the man.
"Where has she disappeared to, anyway?" Izumi raised his right hand slightly from the table.
"She's about 150 meters away; it seems she wants to observe from a distance and not intervene," Migi said, forming an eye and a mouth on his palm.
"That's better than aiding the enemy. The dilemma is how we can fight this rebellious enemy without them knowing about us. It's difficult, if not impossible, with this crowd around," Izumi replied.
"For now, let's monitor the situation. We still have some time, and we'll see what updates arise and act accordingly," Migi suggested.
"Evacuate via the stairs near Wing D, and do not approach Wing A under any circumstances. No rushing, please; everyone will arrive safely... I repeat..." This was the sound of the loudspeaker.
Every teacher began facilitating the exit from their classrooms based on the guidance received through the loudspeaker. One teacher was surprised to find that Professor Tamiya's classroom still had all the students inside. He opened the door and called, "Miss Tamiya, aren't you here? Come on, everyone, join the rest of the students."
"Don't push me!" one student yelled in the hallway.
"Don't shove; keep moving in an orderly line. Please avoid side conversations," one of the teachers coordinating the evacuation instructed.
The atmosphere was generally chaotic, with each student processing what was happening in the university building. Some were careless, joking around in the hallway with others, while others were so frightened that they couldn't move.
"Izumi, we have to fight," Migi said, peeking out from under Izumi's shirt.
"Fight? How in a place like this?" Izumi replied, falling behind his group as he walked with his fellow students.
"Our opponent came without regard for witnesses during the day; this means he is confident in what he's doing and won't leave us alone even if we try to escape. It's only a matter of time, so it's better to confront him now," Migi explained.
"But... alone? What terrible luck!!!" Izumi exclaimed, hinting at Dekim's absence from class that day.
"We have the advantage. Often, reckless and rebellious individuals overlook important details in a fight. I have a plan," Migi said, confident he could overcome the man's obstacle.
"A plan...?!" Izumi stopped walking with the group before saying.
"Hey, who were you talking to? I heard you say something," Satomi, who was walking ahead of Izumi, turned around and asked.
"Huh? I was just thinking out loud... Come on, keep moving," Migi quickly faded from view, and Izumi responded.
The man appeared to the students as he walked alone on the lower floor. The building's design, square-shaped with glass walls, made it easy to see what was around you from the right, left, and even directly opposite where you stood. The first student to spot him called everyone to recognize the figure of the intruder. Everyone rushed towards the glass barrier, causing chaos as curiosity took over and they tried to see who this person was. A middle-aged man approached the crowd.
