Chapter 5: Hendra Defended Me
Immediately Hendra directed his gaze at me. He stared at me long enough for me to see the discomfort on his face. The look in his eyes seemed to show that Hendra was not okay if Nalia was near him.
“I don't know, Sya. Maybe she wants to find food,” Hendra said, he was trying to give me an answer.
I fell silent for a moment when I heard Hendra's answer. In front of me, I could see Hendra trying to remove Nalia's hand from his arm. I could realize that Nalia might be looking for Hendra's attention, but why would she do it when I was near them.
All the workers in this office definitely know that I am Hendra's fiancé. Is Nalia new, so she doesn't know that I'm Hendra's spouse.
My attention is still focused on Nalia and Hendra. They seemed to be having a little fight in front of me. Hendra seemed reluctant and objected to being close to Nalia. Hendra seemed to be avoiding Nalia's behavior, who was always approaching him.
I couldn't stand seeing them seem noisy any longer, until finally I started to interrupt their conversation. I don't like it if other women are close to my fiancé.
“I'm sorry if I have to interfere in your business. But it would be better for Nalia to move somewhere else. This is where I and Hendra were first,” I said, I intended to tell Nalia to go somewhere else.
“But I can't. I want to stay close to Mr. Hendra. I'm already comfortable with him. Mr. Hendra always pays attention to me, no one pays attention to my condition like Mr. Hendra,” Nalia said to me, her voice sounding so firm.
I was surprised, I didn't expect Nalia to dare reply to my words. I didn't expect Nalia would dare to talk to me. Even his eyes were directed straight at me. I was stunned, then sighed.
“You know that Mr. Hendra already has a fiancee. I am Mr. Hendra's legal partner. It's not appropriate for you to approach a man who already has a spouse, especially if he is your boss,” I said, I tried to explain my reasons to Nalia in front of Hendra.
“I know that you are Mr. Hendra's fiancee. But to let go of Mr. Hendra, I can't. He really cared about my situation, he was always helpful and gentle with me,” said Nalia, she answered what I had just said.
“Mr. Hendra's caring and gentle attitude applies to all workers in this office. He doesn't make you special, indeed Hendra has a good attitude towards everyone. He's really friendly,” I said, I was still reluctant to say that Hendra's concern was only for her.
I noticed the expression Nalia had on her face. She seemed so disapproving, even though she was quiet now. Nalia no longer responded to my words, but was also reluctant to leave our seat.
“Yes, what my fiancé said is true. I was kind and gentle with you because it was just a matter of work. Moreover, I know that you get tired easily when working in the office, it's natural that I care about you,” Hendra said, his words felt like he was defending me in front of Nalia.
I was stunned, nor did I feel happy because of Hendra's defense. I closed my mouth, I directed my attention to Nalia. The woman looked silent, I didn't know what was going on in her mind. But she also didn't leave from our position.
“Instead of you making such a fuss, fine. Honey, try to do what she wants. I'll eat this corn soup first,” I said to Hendra.
I allowed Hendra to do what Nalia wanted. I decided to let my fiancé hang out with his personal secretary who seemed interested in him. I sighed, trying not to think about it. Now I prefer to set my sights on corn soup. I continued to eat it.
“But, Sya. Do you mind if I go order food for Nalia? I don't want you to suspect me,” Hendra said, his voice sounded so heavy as if he was reluctant to leave me.
I directed my gaze at Hendra. Not long after, I nodded slowly. I straightened my face, and started to put the spoon I was holding next to the bowl of corn soup.
“Yes, go with her. Order her food. I am alright. If you were my fiancé, I believe you would not cheat on me. I believe in you, darling,” I said, I replied to Hendra's words.
Hendra stared at me for a long time. From the look in his eyes, I could tell how much he didn't believe that I could say that to him. There was no other choice but to show Hendra a little sincere smile.
“Darling, how I love you,” Hendra said to me.
After saying that, I could see Hendra immediately stood up. He wanted to order food for Nalia. I could notice how Nalia was trailing behind Hendra. How could she dare to hold hands with Hendra, in the middle of a crowd like this. How could she dare to tease Hendra when everyone in this office knows that I am Hendra's legal fiancé.
I decided not to pay attention to Hendra and Nalia anymore. My attention was diverted to the bowl of corn soup near me. I then ate it again. I chose to relax for a moment, rather than having to pay attention to Hendra and Nalia. I chose not to worry about them, I believed Hendra wouldn't do anything strange when I wasn't around.
My gaze was diverted when I realized Hendra and Nalia had returned. Meanwhile, I was still busy eating the corn soup in the bowl. I decided not to talk much, nor did I invite Hendra to chat. I just stay silent in front of them.
Not long after, the seller came and laid out food for Nalia. Looks like Hendra ordered different food for Nalia. I frowned, why was the food placed on the table across from us.
What was most surprising was that I saw Nalia move from next to Hendra to the opposite table which seemed to be filled with female workers. I turned my gaze to Hendra.
“Honey, why did you order her at the table over there? I thought, you would put the order on our table,” I said, I don't understand why Hendra did that to Nalia.
