Ashen Dragon

Chapter 333: Reinforcements (Part 2)

"Close your eyes!"

Singo shouted loudly, and before his words fell, Mantou, Natural War Maniac, and Summer Night Autumn Rain all closed their eyes tightly, disregarding everything else.

Singo donned special sunglasses, pulled a Super Magic Flash Bomb from his backpack, and threw it forcefully into the sky.

"Bang!"

Accompanied by a crisp sound, a miniature sun appeared in the sky, releasing an extremely dazzling light. Within several hundred meters, nearly all the Blue Dragon Descendants were blinded, turning into headless flies.

They either collided with each other or wobbled as they fell from mid-air, emitting chaotic roars, creating an extremely chaotic scene.

"Let's go, quickly fly upwards, don't worry about anything!" Singo used the Group Flight Technique Scroll, and the four of them quickly ascended, stopping only when they reached several hundred meters in the sky.

Then, Singo took out a horn hanging from his waist, put it to his lips, and blew it vigorously—

The clear howl echoed in the sky, and in the distance, a dozen or so scarlet lines like meteors streaked across, but upon closer inspection, they turned out to be Red Scale Conquerors clad in "Skyfire Armor," emitting scorching flames from their backs!

Mantou put on sunglasses, looked at those Wyvern Knights on the horizon, and exclaimed, "Is this... the Skyfire Bombing Wyvern Squadron? How could you afford to hire them?"

Singo said calmly, "After all, I was the deputy commander of the former Red Scale Conquerors; I have some contacts there. Unlike you, who can't even get full attendance on missions, you definitely can't compare."

The sharp whistling sound pierced the sky, the armored wyverns cut through the sky, leaving straight white trails in the sky as they flew towards the Blue Dragon Descendants.

Accompanied by the reaper's wailing, bombs poured out from the Bipedal Wyverns' belly like hailstones and raindrops, exploding continuously among the Blue Dragon Descendants.

"Boom!"

"Boom! Boom!"

The explosion's flames and thick smoke shrouded the ground; countless Blue Dragon Descendants didn't even see their enemies before being turned into charred remnants by the bombs from above.

The increasingly dense explosions continued, the flames spreading wildly, forming a burning belt hundreds of meters long, continuously emitting explosive sounds.

This bombing squadron was highly efficient. In just a few tens of seconds, hundreds of Blue Dragon Descendants died in the explosions from the sky.

But eventually, the time for the flash bomb ran out, and these monsters soon recovered from their blindness. Under the orders of the Evil Dragon Sacrifice, they desperately flapped their wings, charging towards the Bipedal Wyverns in the sky.

"Waste! Hurry and catch up with them! For His Majesty Tiamat's glory!" the Evil Dragon Sacrifice roared in frustration, unleashing its fury as dark clouds spread madly across the sky, with lightning striking down after them, unable to harm even a single Wyvern Knight.

The Empire's standard armor had undergone multiple upgrades, its speed terrifying, approaching sonic speed. When Wyvern Knights soared through the atmosphere at high speed, circles of water ripple-like shockwaves formed around them.

Whether Blue Dragon Descendants or Evil Dragon Sacrifice, facing these speed-freaks, they could only gaze from afar, gnashing their teeth in frustration yet helpless.

However, this was not the end. In the distant sky, a massive shadow suddenly appeared, as if just revealed from invisibility—this was a nearly hundred-meter-long wooden sailing ship, floating in mid-air through spells, like drifting on water.

The side of the Magic Ship extended several sturdy cannon barrels, aiming at the assembled Blue Dragon Descendants.

"Boom—"

Accompanied by an earth-shattering roar, pillars of fire spewed from the dark cannon muzzles, bombarding those Blue Dragon Descendants.

Instantly, countless Blue Dragon Descendants were engulfed in flames, their lives taken by the terrifying elemental cannons' power, with horrid charred gashes appearing on the ground.

Mantou's eyes widened further: "Magic Coin's magic-guided battleship? You managed to pull this over here? These wooden ships are Charlotte's prized possessions!"

Singo smiled and said, "Sorry, I have some contacts at Magic Coin too. They owed me a favor and sent a main magic-guided battleship..."

"Boom!"

"Boom! Boom!"

Under the frantic bombardment by the Wyvern Knights and the magic-guided battleship, the ground was riddled with wounds, devastated, littered with the charred remains of Blue Dragon Descendants.

Meanwhile, Singo and his group boarded the magic-guided battleship with a semblance of order, meeting the Vice President Bright Moon of [Magic Coin] responsible for steering this time.

Mantou eyed the elemental cannons on the ship, nodding in approval: "Indeed, from powerful families, truly rich. Just one of these cannons costs several thousand Ginnar, right? Aren't you afraid of capsizing in the gutter?"

Bright Moon confidently replied, "This magic-guided battleship is wrapped in several layers of magic barriers. Those Blue Dragon Descendants would only die faster if they came over. Even if we cannot defeat them, we can escape using Advanced Invisibility and High-speed Flight Skill, not needing to worry at all."

Dragon of Ascension (DRAGON ASCENDANT)

Dragons are undoubtedly the most powerful creatures native to the Prime Material Plane. They occupy a unique position related to powers beyond this plane. Those who become Dragons of Ascension seek to surpass the limitations of material existence, elevating above all other dragons, not inferior to gods themselves in any respect. Their progress in this occupational level represents their advancement towards their ultimate goal, becoming more godlike as they progress.

Most Dragons of Ascension have not previously acquired occupational levels but are dragons of considerable age and strength. Some Dragon Priests, Paladins, and Dark Guards transition into the advanced occupation of Dragon of Ascension upon reaching sufficient power level. The members of the Divine advanced occupation described in this chapter (Cool-headed Observer of Kronipus, Holy Watcher of Bahamut, and Desecration Destroyer of Tiamat) sometimes choose the path of divine ascension to become more perfect servants of their god.

Dragons of Ascension are proud and generally indifferent. They view the journey on the path to divine ascension as a competition and choose not to share this path with others undergoing the same process. On the other hand, they often have followers and allies supporting their exploration and are more unconstrained in cooperating with lesser dragons and non-dragons than with other dragons.

Life Dice: d12.

Requirements

To qualify for becoming a Dragon of Ascension, a dragon must meet the following conditions.

Race: Any True Dragon.

Basic Attack Bonus: +30.

Specialty: Dragon Knowledge, Quick Healing, Strengthening, Increased Speed, Steel Will, Quick Reflex.

Special: Devour Treasure Hoard: To begin the process of divine ascension, a potential Dragon of Ascension must devour its treasure hoard. Its hoard must be worth at least 100,000 Gold Coins, and the dragon cannot simply choose to devour exactly 100,000 Gold Coins and leave the rest—it must devour the entire hoard. (This occupational level is also most distressing for giant dragons)

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: The Dragon of Ascension does not gain proficiency with any weapons, armor, or shields.

Spiritual Light of Reverence (Awesome Aura) (Special): The Dragon of Ascension loses its innate daunting presence, replacing it with a special fear aura. This aura surrounds the dragon within any radius up to its daunting presence's range (30 feet × dragon's age category), and is always active unless the dragon chooses to suppress it. The dragon can choose to exempt its allies from the effect of its aura. Creatures within the aura must make a Will saving throw (DC equal to the dragon's daunting presence DC plus 1/2 its level as Dragon of Ascension). Creatures that fail the saving throw are shaken, while successful ones are immune to the dragon's aura effect for 24 hours. If the dragon attacks or charges, shaken creatures must attempt a second Will save (DC the same), or become frightened.

When the Dragon of Ascension reaches Level 5, it can choose to alter its aura to inspire determination in allies and fear in enemies. All allies within its aura radius gain a +4 morale bonus on attack rolls, saves, and checks. Enemies of the dragon must succeed on a Will save, or suffer a -4 penalty on attack rolls, saves, and checks.

When the Dragon of Ascension reaches Level 10, it gains a third option for its aura. Simply gazing upon the dragon in fascinated awe can stun affected creatures if they fail their Will save. As with the fear aspect of this aura, the dragon can choose to exempt its allies from the aura's effect.

All uses of the dragon's Spiritual Light of Reverence are mind-affecting effects.
