Chapter 87: Old Enemies
Third Person PoV
In the haunted castles of Europe, a man sat on a throne. His eyes closed as if in conversation with someone.
A dozen men and women were kneeling before him, even the sounds of breathing weren't audible in the room.
It was almost as if there was no living being in the room, only the dead. Suddenly the man opened his eyes and glanced at everyone.
"Has the whereabouts of the Holy relics been found?"
No answer came.
"Then why are you morons here? Go don't return till you figure it out!"
The man scolded and the kneeling ones raised their heads as they scattered in the mist.
"All these vampires are useless. Only I am worthy enough to help my Lord. Only If that bastard hadn't locked Hell, I would have figured out a lot more!"
The man's face was finally illuminated by the moonlight pouring through the window of the room and his grayish silver hair was a dead giveaway of his identity.
A calm voice suddenly rang in the empty room.
"Euclid, calm down. I have waited for so long, another few centuries would be nothing. What matters though most is getting the Holy Relics, only with those we will have a chance of standing against my Monstrous Brother."
"It is as you say, Rizevim-sama! If not for you making an escape plan even before the fight between him and you began, I would have perished, and then you too!"
"That brother of mine will sooner or later figure it out. It's just that he hasn't paid enough attention to the vampires yet. We are lucky, but make sure to make multiple fake hideouts and be on good terms with all the small factions, no one knows when Cain might decide he needs to tour the Vampires!"
"As you command, My Lord!"
"Is the body ready?"
"Yes, my lord. I have procured a pure-blooded devil's body as you had requested."
"Good, now put it in the middle of the magic circle I had you create using the blood of eighteen different species of the supernatural world."
Euclid did as he was told, a male body was kept in the middle of a blood-red magic circle, Euclid stood inside a pentagram below the huge circle, the two were connected using some fairy dust.
"Now pour your magic inside it, do it until that body wakes up!"
"Yes, My Lord."
The whole dark room was lit with a red glow as the blood began to move in the path described by the magic circle.
…
It was the year 1641, in the world.
Miyamoto Musashi was lying on his bed, he knew his time was near. He had already passed his teachings to his children.
His daughter, the only one of his blood-related children, had immense strength and sword mastery.
She had already mastered Niten Ichi-ryū, only at the age of twenty-seven. In a few weeks, she was going to have a battle with her rival, Sasaki Koujiro.
He had named her daughter the same as himself, to shield her from problems until she truly matured.
He had undertaken all challenges in her name, allowing her to peacefully develop, only when she had reached a level where she could easily handle herself, did he allow himself to rest.
"Oto-sama, here have some water."
A woman passed a cup to him, he sat up and with some problem drank it, and looked at his daughter.
She was hated by his father for being born as a girl, but he didn't hate her. But still, he had to let her live in a hut just outside his own house.
After his father died, he immediately took her in. One of his adopted sons had already committed seppuku.
"Musashi, you must remember, this is the last lesson I am going to teach you."
"I understand, Oto-sama!"
"To win any battle, You must fight as if you are already dead!"
Musashi's eyes shined upon hearing that. The line she was unable to pass no matter how much she had trained and fought was finally surpassed.
It was her father's last lesson which had allowed her to reach this level.
"This daughter will cherish Oto-Sama's teaching till I die!"
*Cough**cough*
Miyamoto coughed some blood, and his daughter quickly helped him and cleaned the blood.
At that moment the two of them felt as if a predator was stalking them, as experienced swordsmen and hunters, they knew that they were in danger.
Musashi quickly weirded her wakizaki and looked at the door of their house. From there a man walked in, a black yukata, with silver embroidery on it.
He had red eyes and silver hair, and he had a laid-back expression but him just being there put too much pressure on the daughter and father.
Miyamoto knew that the gods and myths were real, he hadn't revealed this to his daughter till now.
He knew that the one in front of them was not a human, but something far sinister, someone even gods feared.
"Is this the residence of the strongest swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi?"
Cain said with a gentle tone.
…
"Indeed, I am Miyamoto Musashi!"
The old man said, with a sad chuckle he continued.
"But if you want a battle, then I am afraid you are a few decades late."
"Hmm? Why are you lying, isn't the lady here stronger?"
Cain said as he sat down and poured a cup of tea from a kettle he procured out of thin air.
His action surprised Musashi and made Miyamoto sigh.
"I don't know who you are, but I am indeed, Miyamoto Musashi. If you want to battle me then I am ready!"
The woman took out her katana and took her stance. Cain looked at that and said.
"How about a wager? If I win you will join and be a general under me. If you win, I will heal your father and prolong his life."
"Don't spout nonsense? How could you do that?"
"He can. But I am afraid you won't win. Daughter."
"Oto-Sama, I am confident in my swordsmanship."
"Would it be possible to delay this battle?"
Miyamoto asked Cain.
"Sure, I will come in a month!"
Cain said as he walked away. A month, a year, time had lost much of his meaning to him by now.
"Daughter, come sit. There is much to tell you!"
…
"Hmm, this plan needs to be paused for a month. What about the Yokai's? I heard Nurarihyon was seriously injured. And Yasaka has just created a new East Yokai Faction, its main base is in Kyoto. Yep, I will go there."
At that moment, Cain came to a halt. His entire body had reacted to something.
"Bloodline resonance? Did I became a father?"
Cain's mind was overjoyed but he calmed down and thought rationally.
"No, this feels too close to me to be an offspring. But I don't have any siblings. Could it be?"
"But I had taken all those soul and resurrection type books and then destroyed them? Could he have gotten some before me?"
He immediately contacted Grayfia.
[What happened, My Lord?]
[Fia, do a check of the restricted section Lucifer Library. Give me the list of all missing and destroyed books from my birth till the end of the Civil War. Do it personally, I need the list as soon as possible! If you can, list the types of magics written in the books.]
Cain asked Grayfia.
[Yes, my Lord!]
Grayfia stopped whatever she was doing and rushed to the library. She couldn't understand why Cain asked her to do this, but this must be quite important for him to be this serious.
"I will soon figure this out. Is he alive?"
Cain muttered he was in no mood to go to the Yokai faction. He teleported near a river passing through a forest and sat near the bank on a stone.
His mind was in turmoil, If he really was alive then what?
"Things just went the worst way possible!"
…
"Finally, after so many years of planning, hiding, and scheming, I have regained life!"
The body which was lying in the middle of the blood-red magic circle said, as it came back to life.
Euclid was on his knees, sweat covered his brows. His reserves were almost empty.
"Euclid greets his Lord!"
"Don't, I still haven't regained my prime. Find me a nice pure-blooded female devil, only a child born from mine and her union would be fit for me to possess."
"Yes, my lord! But I have a question."
"Ask, you have been loyal to me even in my death. It would have been impossible for me to revive if not for you Euclid!"
"That and exaggeration, my Lord. You would have regained your glory sooner or later, death can't stop the grand power of my Lord! It's just that, how did you know about this magic circle? Didn't that bastard destroy all books related to this topic?"
"He did. And he had even more methods to revive and reincarnate even, but I was the first one to begin learning magic from the restricted section. So naturally I reached the soul magic before him. But before I could learn more, he took all the books and destroyed them. It was due to pure luck that I managed to keep one before that."
"His interest in those restricted magics was due to the battle with you and the Vatican?"
"Indeed, if it wasn't for those events, I would have revived much faster!"
"Truly, the world tried to kill you."
"Hmph! What's a single world worth? When I regain my power I will cause chaos and ravage multiple worlds. I will show the world true devils!"
"Indeed my Lord!"
"Now focus on finding the Holy Relics. Till then I shall do a take which I had left pending since my demise."
Euclid felt overjoyed, his master was about to finish a task he placed great importance on.
"What is it, My Lord?"
"Why of course, taking a shit and eating!"
Rizevim said seriously, Euclid facepalmed, his Lord truly said the most ridiculous things at the most wrong times.
…
"My plans would change too much, I might even be outwitted if he is alive. But why did I feel the resonance now? Did he get a body or possess someone? No possession wouldn't give me a bloodline resonance."
Cain teleported to Serafall, in her office.
"Cain! Don't do that!"
"What?"
"Teleporting into my office suddenly like that, I almost attacked!"
"Okay, but this is important. Give the list of all missing pure-blooded devils, across the entirety of Hell."
"I have other things to do"
"It's related to my brother!"
Cain said and Serafall's posture changed immediately.
"Give me six hours!"
"Fine."
He then teleported to Ajuka's lab.
"Cain, as much as I would like to give you a grand welcome to my personal laboratory. For the love of the old man up there, do not ruin my experiments by randomly popping up in my lab!"
"You are in a bad mood, want bad news to make it worse?"
"What?"
"My brother might have just revived somehow."
Ajuka looked at Cain with a stupefied expression.
"Alright, my day just went from bad to worse. What do you want me to do?"
"Anyway, to figure out his whereabouts? Or the methods he might have potentially used?"
"Give me your blood and some days."
Sure, Cain slacked on his palm and gave him ample blood. He then quickly went to find Falbium, and to no one's surprise, he was sleeping in his house.
"Falbium, it's wartime!"
"Squadron, take formation and charge!"
Falbium said while jumping out of his bed as his absolute defense roared to life. He then looked at his clothes and then at Cain.
"What happened?"
"My brother might be alive, so I need a list of anyone that might have gone out of Hell, before and after its creation since the Civil War."
Falbium's eyes which had begun to droop shot open, he looked even more serious than before.
"That will take time, you are asking for almost two hundred years' worth of data, a few weeks, at the very least."
"Sure, but make sure it's correct. We can't make any mistakes."
"Indeed."
He then went back to his castle. He didn't inform anyone else. He didn't want chaos to erupt.
He will inform the others when he is sure about the whereabouts of his brother.
"Let's hope he hadn't lived up to his nature. A devil-like him allowed to plan for centuries? It's just waiting for disaster to happen. Damn, you Rizz!"
