Arms trough the galaxy

After leaving me home, the mayor and the rest of the men who have accompanied in the earlier practice were now in the town hall talking about what they have seen and done.

"Mayor, these weapons despite being slugthrowers have shown qualities never seen before by others of the same type, and those shown to us are not everything that he had, he said that depending of our needs he would provide according to it. Also does anyone here knows what he refered to when he called us Volkstrum?"

To this everyone present shook off their heads showing their negative to the question.

"He said that this afternoon we should gather everyone that would fight against the extorsionist on the same shooting ground, as well more or less have an idea of what to expect when it comes to the weapons that he had shown to us this morning"

"Indeed, I have been thinking base on what he has shown and I have more or less made my mind on what we will ask for. And for that we may as well not make him wait, it is almost time again so let's depart now"

After exiting the office a small droid, undetect by all disappeared stealthily, it's destination unknwon.

Once again in the shooting field, Max, his new name in this life, was showing the last of the weapons that have been not seen before as well as he analyzes the crowd that was suppose to be his Volkstrum or popular army, which fits this category very well due to its kinship with the real one in earth, its trainning minimal, combat experience, mostly cero and the only difference is the quality of its weaponry.

"Very well, that the spirit remember that you are fighting not for credits or fame but for the survival of your equals, your neighbours, friends, family, your own future is now in your hands. Many of you have ask me what the Volkstrum is, well it was a national militia of a country that cease to exist after a worldwide war, this militia was formed by normal men, elders and children forced to take arms by the goverment in defense of their country. All of you are the same, man, woman and elderly all ready to take arms for just cause and is for that reason that I will teach you what I can.

The first lesson will be about small arms, in response to the request of the mayor I will provide three different types of short weapons the maximum effective range of two of them is 50 meters while the last one is a 100 meters. First you will feel the weapons and learn its mechanism, the you will learn to fire it.

In the first one we have the M1917 Revolver, no power cells, no recharge stations. Just old-fashioned firepower you can rely on, round after round. This weapon has seen a lot of service in my old world, it chamber the .45 ACP, a powerfull caliber, perfect for short range engagements. Its easy to use, take the safety off, pull the hammer, aim and shoot. The only negative aspect is its six shots and manual recharge.

The second weapon also used the .45 ACP, the 1911, a 7-round magazine plus one in the chamber, you can fire quickly and decisively. It has been based on a design that's been trusted by soldiers and lawmen in the toughest conditions. It's a weapon that's proven itself in countless battles—you can bet your life on it. Same course of action as the M1917 except for the recharge.

And lastly with the 9x19 Parabellum the C96, a pistol that can be add a detachable wooden shoulder stock, and you've got a weapon that performs like a rifle but carries like a pistol. It has an internal magazine that holds 10 rounds, and are recharge via stripper clips.

With that we finish the introductions for today, there are 60 persons here, take a step forward and take the weapon that you think it suit you better, remember that you can change it later"

After the first 30 persons took their ammunitions and its gun they line up to shoot at the different targets at 50 meters. This not only serves to know who has talent to shootbut also to know who has used guns before. The results were as expect, of the 10 shooters with the M1917 only two manage to hit the target but their faces show discomfort due to the recoil of the weapon, and the women show the less effectiveness, however the situation change with the 1911 and the C96, the number of hits has risen to 4 in the former and 7 in the later, showing that the recoil is the primary cause of concern for the inexpirience farmers, but among this first batch there's one that stand out over the rest, a farmer in the 1911 pistol section, he had hit the target with all bullets.

"Well said, now pass your weapon to the next person and from now on you are also an instructor here, your task is to correct basic mistake such as the stance to shoot or the if the safety is still on. Now I must speak with your mayor"

After leaving the shooting range for a bit, I found the mayor looking towards the town.

"Did you know that this village has never had conflict with no one before, it is a pity that we must resort to violence now. You have come here with questions and it is only right that I try to respond them. So what is it that worry you"

"My only corcern is not knowing againts what will we face, as well as the geographical situation, as well as the terrain"

"Your corcerns are spot on, for even I don't know what we will face, but for the terrain and our position, Ren and Thomas can show you when you have time, because there is still about three weeks before the next pay"

"Then we still have time but it is of utmost esence to negate all types of advantages that the enemy could have. It will definitly be a busy period, either way let's hope for the best. Also I'll introduce them to the new weapons once they're more or less become acostume to the pistols. See ya"
