Armor-Piercing Munition: Face Me, Carbon-Based Monster!

Chapter 244: Doppler Radar

"Everyone, quickly pack up your parachutes and gather at my location!"

"Stay alert!"

"No sign of the enemy yet."

"The surrounding area is secure."

"Stay concealed, keep your voices down!"

Chen Jian issued a series of commands, and after a brief pause, replies came through his headset.

"Understood, I've landed."

"Received."

"I'll be there shortly."

Chen Jian looked up, glanced at Ji Xing who was packing her parachute nearby, and gestured for her to move left to assist the newly landed Guo Xu.

Ji Xing understood immediately, quickly moved forward to help Guo Xu with his parachute, and then rushed towards Chen Jian's location.

It took nearly 10 minutes for this parachute team to finally gather.

By this time, Chen Jian had also locked the location of the airdrop supplies using the enemy identification system beacon.

It took another 20 minutes for the team members to gather all the supplies and gear up.

It was exactly noon, and although the sunlight was intense in the air,

on the ground, the dense fog blocked all sunlight.

The team felt as if they were trapped in endless twilight, everything visible was real yet always seemed somewhat blurry.

Chen Jian quickly launched the drone, and the signal was not interfered with.

He finally breathed a sigh of relief when the aerial reconnaissance images appeared on the smart glasses.

"Contrary to our expectations, the electromagnetic interference here is not strong."

"Most of the electronic warfare equipment in Mountain City has likely been destroyed by the electromagnetic pulse from the nuclear explosion."

"This is a good thing."

"Although we still can't establish real-time communication with Fu Xi via cellular networks, radio transmissions are possible."

"Rear support isn't completely severed, just weakened."

"Ji Xing!"

Chen Jian turned towards Ji Xing, who immediately turned her head.

"I'm here."

"Control the drone for quick reconnaissance of the surrounding area, find a reliable location to establish a departure base, and prepare to set up a fire point."

"Understood."

Ji Xing nodded in response, and then Chen Jian continued issuing orders:

"Guo Xu, take Zhang Chao and Liu Hao to explore the surroundings, clear threats in the park greens."

"Focus on the locations I've marked, check the deer carcasses and surrounding bloodstains, look for clues from Lin Yu's team."

"You have only 5 minutes, make it quick!"

"Understood."

Guo Xu did not hesitate, quickly exchanged a few words with the others, and moved forward swiftly. Meanwhile, Chen Jian patted Li Shi on the shoulder, signaling him to follow.

His target was an artificial device on the edge of the park's grassland.

From a distance, the device looked like an ordinary streetlight, but as Chen Jian approached, he found no familiar components on the "light bulb" of this "streetlight."

"What on earth is this...."

Chen Jian frowned deeply, gave a look to Li Shi, who immediately moved and kicked the streetlight pole.

"Bang!"

The loud noise caused the exploring Guo Xu team to turn around immediately.

Chen Jian raised his hand to signal safety, then said to Li Shi with helplessness:

"I meant for you to bend it, not kick it flying...."

"Oh..."

Li Shi gave an embarrassed smile, ready to say something, but Chen Jian's gaze had already fallen on the broken metal pole.

This was indeed the design of a streetlight.

The supporting metal pole was hollow, and when broken, the complex internal cables were exposed.

Chen Jian pulled out the cables and, after careful observation, frowned and said:

"Isn't this damn fiber optic?"

"A base station?"

Without stopping, he followed the cables upward, smashing the top "bulb cover" with the butt of his rifle.

Then, a hemispherical device appeared in front of him.

"Omni-directional antenna??"

"Fu Xi!"

"I'm here."

After a brief pause, Fu Xi's voice came through Chen Jian's headset.

"In front of me is a hemispherical omni-directional antenna with a visibly granular protruding surface, which shows a silvery metallic sheen when the particles are rubbed."

"The back of the omni-directional antenna has complex circuits and is equipped with a chip about 3X3 centimeters in size."

"Help me determine what this is."

"Could it be a cellular network base station?"

While speaking, Chen Jian dismantled the evidently unpowered antenna into pieces.

And after receiving his information, Fu Xi immediately made a judgment.

"Sounds like some kind of signal-emitting device, but it can't be a cellular network base station."

"A 3X3 centimeter chip is too large for a network base station."

"Please determine if there are RF modules and baseband processing units."

"I don't see any."

Chen Jian shook his head and said:

"The structure is simple; I only see one chip."

"But there is fiber optic in the transmission cables."

"It might be some kind of ultrasonic or electromagnetic emitter."

Fu Xi replied again:

"I can't see the actual image, you can take a photo and transmit it remotely through radio."

"By lowering the image quality, the transmission time can be reduced to less than 10 minutes."

"Understood, I'll take a photo right away."

Chen Jian responded briefly, then immediately used the smart glasses' camera function to photograph the bulb for transmission.

The wireless communication channel was occupied, and the image data was slowly transmitted after being decoded, at which point Ji Xing's voice came through Chen Jian's headset.

"Found suitable positions for the base, marked three options on the map."

"Commander, you need to decide."

"Understood."

Chen Jian glanced at the flowing images on the smart glasses, then quickly locked onto a platform situated between two high buildings.
