Chapter 9: Chapter 9: Forging Alliances
The next few days at Hogwarts passed in a blur of covert planning and careful preparations. Kai's mind never stopped working, running scenarios, recalling every detail from the books, and adapting to the changes the system had revealed. He knew that if the timeline was unraveling, they'd need more than brute strength to survive. They needed allies.

The Great Hall – Morning
The Great Hall was filled with its usual buzz of chatter, but Kai barely noticed as he sat at the Slytherin table, his breakfast untouched. Across the hall, he watched Harry, Hermione, and Ron huddled together at the Gryffindor table. Harry looked tired, his glasses slipping down his nose as he poked half-heartedly at his eggs. It was clear the events of the Triwizard Tournament were still weighing on him.
Daphne nudged Kai's arm, pulling him from his thoughts. "If you stare at him any harder, he might actually catch fire."
Kai smirked faintly. "I'm not staring. I'm observing."
"Is that what we're calling it now?" Blaise chimed in, leaning back lazily. "What's the plan, Thornwood? Or are we just going to sit here and brood all year?"
Theo snorted. "Brooding is his specialty. Haven't you noticed?"
"Very funny," Kai said, rolling his eyes. "The plan is already in motion."
"Care to share with the class?" Daphne asked, raising an eyebrow.
Kai leaned in, lowering his voice. "Harry needs to trust me. If we're going to stop Voldemort, he's going to need more help than Dumbledore can give him. And that starts with building a bridge."
Blaise looked skeptical. "And how do you plan to do that? Gryffindors aren't exactly fond of our house, in case you haven't noticed."
Kai grinned, his eyes glinting with mischief. "Leave that to me."

Hogsmeade Weekend – The Three Broomsticks
Kai's opportunity came sooner than expected. During the weekend trip to Hogsmeade, he spotted Harry slipping away from Ron and Hermione, heading toward the Three Broomsticks. It was the perfect chance to strike up a conversation without the Gryffindor Trio's usual dynamic getting in the way.
Kai followed him inside, finding Harry at a corner table nursing a Butterbeer. He hesitated for a moment, then walked over, his expression calm and non-threatening.
"Mind if I join you?" Kai asked.
Harry looked up, startled. "Uh… sure, I guess."
Kai slid into the seat across from him, ordering his own Butterbeer from Madam Rosmerta before turning his attention back to Harry. "I know this is probably the last thing you want, but we need to talk."
Harry frowned. "About what?"
"About everything," Kai said simply. "The tournament. Voldemort. The fact that you're being thrown into a war you didn't ask for."
Harry's eyes widened slightly at the directness of Kai's words, but he didn't interrupt. Kai took it as a good sign and pressed on.
"I know what it feels like," Kai continued. "To have the weight of the world on your shoulders. To feel like you're alone in all of this. But you're not."
Harry's expression softened, though he still looked wary. "Why are you telling me this? You're in Slytherin. You don't even know me."
"Because I believe in doing what's right," Kai said firmly. "Not what's easy. And right now, you need all the help you can get."
Harry studied him for a long moment, as if trying to determine whether he was being sincere. Finally, he nodded. "Alright. I'm listening."

The Training Begins
Over the next few weeks, Kai began working with Harry in secret, teaching him advanced spells and strategies that he knew would be crucial in the battles to come. The Room of Requirement became their base of operations, its magical walls shielding them from prying eyes.
At first, Harry was skeptical of Kai's abilities. But as Kai demonstrated spell after spell—some of which even Hermione hadn't seen before—Harry began to trust him more. The system proved invaluable, providing Kai with spells from other universes that left Harry in awe.
One afternoon, as they practiced in the Room of Requirement, Harry wiped sweat from his brow and looked at Kai with newfound respect. "Where did you learn all of this?"
Kai hesitated. He couldn't tell Harry the truth—not yet. "Let's just say I've had… unique training," he said evasively. "But that's not what matters. What matters is making sure you're ready for what's coming."
Harry nodded, his expression determined. "I won't let Voldemort win."
Kai clapped him on the shoulder. "That's the spirit. But remember—it's not just about you. It's about everyone who's counting on you."

Slytherin Common Room – Late Night
Back in the Slytherin common room, Daphne waited for Kai, her arms crossed as he walked in.
"You're spending a lot of time with Potter," she said, her tone unreadable.
Kai shrugged. "He's the key to all of this. If he's not ready, we all lose."
Daphne stepped closer, her gaze intense. "I get that. But don't forget who your real allies are."
Kai raised an eyebrow. "You think I'd forget? Daphne, you and the others are my foundation. But this war isn't going to be won by Slytherins alone."
She sighed, her shoulders relaxing slightly. "I know. Just… don't get too caught up in saving the hero. We need you too."
Kai smiled, touched by her concern. "I'm not going anywhere. I promise."
For a moment, they stood there in silence, the flickering firelight casting shadows on the walls. Then Daphne reached out, her hand brushing against his.
"Good," she said softly. "Because we can't do this without you."
Kai's chest tightened at her words, the weight of his responsibilities momentarily forgotten as he looked into her eyes. There was something unspoken between them, a connection that went beyond strategy and survival.
"I won't let you down," he said, his voice low.
"I know," she replied.

The Gathering Storm
As the days turned into weeks, the tension at Hogwarts continued to build. Strange sightings were reported near the Forbidden Forest, and whispers of dark magic grew louder. Kai knew they were running out of time. Voldemort's forces were mobilizing faster than he had anticipated, and the timeline was slipping further out of his control.
But he also knew that they were stronger now—Harry, Daphne, Blaise, Theo, and even himself. Together, they were forging a new path, one that might just be enough to tip the scales in their favor.
As he stood on the castle battlements one evening, staring out at the darkening horizon, Kai made a silent vow.
Whatever it took, he would protect this world. He would fight for his friends, for the future they all deserved.
And he wouldn't stop until Voldemort was defeated.
