Apocalyptic Wasteland Simulator

Chapter 222: Southern Alliance Hantan City Bank Branch

"Alright, no problem. We'll do it your way."

Though Song Feng was reluctant, he wisely chose to avoid a direct confrontation for now. A wise man knows when to retreat, and there was no shame in being pragmatic. In his memory, Hantan City was no paradise; violent incidents like this had happened before. But the result was always the same: the troublemakers were ruthlessly crushed. After all, this was the Southern Alliance's territory. This was just a minor squall.

"Good!"

Chen Pingchuan didn't care about Song Feng's true feelings. As long as things went according to his plan, he couldn't be bothered with what others were thinking. All he could think about now was how to escape this dangerous city. The insect tide was coming, after all. As for why he didn't flee to the outskirts, the simulator had hinted that Hantan City was a self-contained instance. The chances of a successful escape weren't necessarily high. Going against the grain, however, might offer a slim chance of survival.

Standing to the side, Lilia saw Chen Pingchuan nod at her. With a wave of her small hand, the stones that had been hovering before the combat team members, ready to take their lives at any moment, fell to the ground with a series of dull thuds.

As he walked, Chen Pingchuan suddenly turned his head and ordered his subordinate, "Uh... Porcupine, stuff that big guy in the trunk."

"You got it, Boss!" Porcupine grinned, replying enthusiastically. He crossed the distance to Song Feng in a few strides. Without another word, the muscles in his arms bulged as he hoisted Song Feng onto his shoulder, turned, and strode toward the taxi.

A few minutes later, the taxi started up again, driving down the deserted street.

Footage of the spectacular and thrilling battle had already been spread throughout Hantan City by nosy onlookers. The citizens now all knew that a group of ruthless thugs had suddenly appeared. No one dared to linger in the area; they all hurried home and locked their doors.

"S-S-Sir... wh-where... where are we going?" the driver stammered.

The recent battle had made him fully realize just how dangerous Chen Pingchuan and his crew were. These weren't ordinary robbers or thugs; they were terrorists! The smile had long vanished from his face, replaced by endless terror. His legs trembled uncontrollably, and his whole body shook with fear. Even his hands, clutching the steering wheel, were trembling slightly.

Chen Pingchuan didn't answer directly. Instead, he asked, "Where do you think is the safest place in Hantan City?"

"I mean a place with extremely strong defenses, one that's very hard to breach from the outside," he added, fearing the driver might misunderstand.

The three henchmen in the car exchanged bewildered glances at Chen Pingchuan's words. They couldn't understand his logic. Forget whether such a place even existed in Hantan City—even if they successfully occupied it, then what? They couldn't hide there forever, could they? Besides, wouldn't walking into a place like that be like getting trapped? They'd be sitting ducks. Of course, none of them dared to voice these thoughts. They were still haunted by Chen Pingchuan's ruthlessness from the previous night. When he decided to kill someone, he was swift and merciless. Moreover, the recent confrontation with Song Feng proved that their new boss, even without his incomprehensible abilities, possessed the combat power of a Level 6 powerhouse.

The taxi driver's mind raced, racking his brains for an answer. Suddenly, an idea struck him.

His spirits instantly lifted.

"I know!" he exclaimed. "Hahaha! I know the safest place, the one with the strongest defenses!"

As he spoke, his eyes began to gleam. "Ancient Street, number 888. The Southern Alliance Universal Bank Branch Center! I heard they haul money out of there by the truckload, so its defenses must be impeccable. In all these years, I've never heard of anyone successfully robbing it. So..."

The more the driver talked, the more excited he became. He enthusiastically detailed the bank's scale and size, his earlier caution completely forgotten and replaced by an exuberant chatter.

"Good. We're going there." A flicker of pleasant surprise crossed Chen Pingchuan's eyes.

"Lilia, you handle any obstacles in our way!"

"Wei Hao, make sure the road ahead is clear!"

"Got it, Boss."

"Yes, Sir."

On the way to Ancient Street No. 888, the taxi did encounter several blockades. However, against Chen Pingchuan's versatile team, they were clearly ineffective.

Thus, after a drive of more than half an hour, the group finally arrived at the Southern Alliance Universal Bank Branch Center.

The bank building was magnificent, its top floors seeming to pierce the clouds, so high an ordinary person couldn't see the top. Its exterior walls were forged from a sturdy alloy that gleamed with a cold, metallic light, as if declaring its indestructibility to the world.

Just as Chen Pingchuan's group stepped out of the taxi, a piercing alarm suddenly blared, its shrill sound seeming to slice through the silent air. Immediately after, the incredibly thick alloy security gate at the bank's entrance began to lower from the top down, inch by inch, with a dull mechanical drone.

Seeing this, Chen Pingchuan's eyebrow twitched, a hint of surprise in his eyes.

In an instant, the muscles of his right arm bulged violently, blue veins popping like writhing dragons. His powerful arm contained astonishing strength.

"Here goes!" Chen Pingchuan roared. He took two quick steps back and grabbed the taxi, its engine still humming. Then, engaging his core, he summoned his strength and, like a descending Celestial God, hurled the vehicle toward the bank's entrance.

WHOOSH!

The taxi soared through the air in a breathtaking arc, shooting through the bank entrance like an arrow loosed from a bow. The metal body screeched against the slick marble floor, kicking up a shower of dazzling sparks. It skidded for dozens of meters before crashing into several exquisite decorations made of some unknown material, finally grinding to a halt with a groan of tortured metal.

It was a good thing the bank lobby was so spacious. In a smaller area, the violent impact would have surely killed the driver, who was already scared out of his wits.

The last thought that flashed through the driver's mind before he lost consciousness was: Damn it! He promised to spare my life! That handsome bastard looked so proper, but he's a damn liar!
