Apocalyptic Villain: Female Leads, Don't Even Think About Running

Chapter 82: Chapter 81: Clearing the Battlefield, Medical Room Opens

Chapter 81: Clearing the Battlefield, Medical Room Opens

Hui Zi concealed herself by the entrance, using her ability to blend into the shadows, and spoke into the walkie-talkie to Chen Ruoxue on the other end in a hushed voice:

"The hostages have been rescued. You can initiate the attack now."

Upon hearing Hui Zi's response, Chen Ruoxue heaved a sigh of relief.

She didn't want to sacrifice any of her team members unless absolutely necessary.

With a cold glare directed at the invaders in front of the square, her eyes hardened in resolve.

Now that the threat had been neutralized, the more than a thousand trapped invaders could be dealt with.

The remaining intruders were surrounded by three groups of team members, with a small house at their backs.

Without Su Chen, their leader, only a handful of ability users remained. The ordinary members stood no chance against the search team.

They looked like the spirited youths from before the apocalypse, dressed in a hodgepodge of clothing, with some even sporting makeshift armor made from steel plates to defend against zombie attacks.

Their weapons were a chaotic mix; a bunch of misfits wielding whatever they could find, including iron fences turned into spears or kitchen knives tied to broomsticks. These weapons were no match for the team members wielding their sabers, shattering upon contact.

Upon hearing about An Ziyu's predicament, Chen Ruoxue, who had always had a good relationship with her, felt a surge of anger.

With An Ziyu's fate uncertain, she vowed to spare none of the invaders.

Glaring fiercely at the intruders, Chen Ruoxue gritted her teeth and spoke to her nearby teammates:

"All team members, prepare for a triple volley with the crossbows. Fire!"

At Chen Ruoxue's command, the team members unleashed their arrows, their eyes filled with ferocity, seeking vengeance for Captain An.

As the new recruit team captain, An Ziyu had trained nearly all the team members, regardless of their current department.

Silver flashes lit up the sky as the arrows reflected the sunlight, leaving the intruders with no place to hide.

The area was soon filled with a dense barrage of arrows, instantly turning the surrounded intruders into pincushions.

Among the crowd, someone shouted, "Quick! Retreat to the building and use those girls as shields!"

In an instant, hundreds of people rushed toward the small building, trying to escape the rain of arrows while threatening the lives of the girls.

However, dozens of arrows shot out from the building, instantly taking down the first row of unlucky souls. The mutated dogs in the fortress, sensing the intruders' intentions, charged into the crowd to block their retreat.

The bloodthirsty nature of the mutated beasts was fully unleashed as they tore into the bodies of the invaders, their sharp teeth ripping off chunks of flesh with each bite.

The scene quickly transformed into a bloody hell, with a one-sided massacre.

Seeing the dire situation, the remaining ability users among the intruders realized they were outmatched and prepared to flee, but they were quickly locked onto by Lin Qianqian and the other captain-level ability users.

Under normal circumstances, Ye Zian's ability users could handle at least three of their same tier.

Anna wielded two golden hammers, moving through the chaos as if it were a stroll in the park. Each swing sent several intruders flying, their bodies tumbling through the air before crashing to the ground, their bones shattered from the impact.

By the time Ye Zian arrived, the battle was nearing its conclusion.

"We surrender! We were misled by Su Chen; it's not our fault!" a young man from the invaders suddenly threw down his weapon and knelt, begging for mercy.

His actions influenced those around him, and soon, many of the invaders dropped their weapons and began to kneel, pleading for their lives.

Realizing that resistance would only lead to death, they hoped that surrender might spare them.

Ye Zian stepped forward, his voice cold:

"I accept your surrender, but it will not change your fate. Kill them."

Hearing Ye Zian accept their surrender brought joy to their hearts, but it quickly turned to despair upon hearing the latter half of his statement, realizing he had no intention of letting any of them live.

Before they could pick up their fallen weapons to retaliate, another volley of arrows rained down from the sky.

Through the mental link, Ye Zian already knew that Hui Zi had rescued the captured team members. He turned to his team behind him and commanded:

"Everyone, go in for the finishing blows and gather any usable supplies from their bodies. We'll burn the corpses together."

The scent of human blood would attract zombies, and Ye Zian didn't want any further trouble.

As the dust settled, several team members used makeshift stretchers made from door panels to carry the seriously injured colleagues out.

Ye Zian bent down to assess their injuries. Though they weren't as severely injured as An Ziyu, their condition was still concerning.

Many had been pierced by sharp blades, and if it weren't for the gradual increase in their attributes during their time in the fortress, they would have likely succumbed.

"Each of you should take an antidote, then get them on the bus. All injured team members, come with me back to the fortress."

Ye Zian retrieved a bus from the system space and parked it by the roadside. A team member quickly got into the driver's seat, ready to transport the injured back to the fortress.

As the bus made its way to the fortress, Ye Zian could sense the changes occurring there from a distance.

Now, the walls of the fortress shared a subtle connection with Ye Zian's mind; once the Tower of Heaven was fully integrated, it would no longer be just a wall but a part of the entire fortress.

Inside the medical room, thirty oval medical pods lined one side, equipped with a mechanical panel that recorded various health data of the patients being treated. The pods were filled with a light blue liquid, and An Ziyu, wearing a breathing mask, floated within, her eyes closed and without any coverings.

Her wounds gradually healed with the nourishing liquid, visibly closing up, especially the knife wounds inflicted by Su Chen, which appeared much smaller than before.

Ye Zian estimated that An Ziyu would be able to move again after spending just one day in the medical pod.

The other severely injured team members were also receiving treatment, and fortunately, no one had died during this invasion.

Just as Ye Zian exited the medical room, he found it crowded with eager team members outside, all wanting to know what had happened.

A front-row team member spoke up first, urgently asking:

"City Lord, how is Captain An doing?"

As the rookie team captain, An Ziyu had trained all the team members under her command. Her authority in the fortress was second only to Ye Zian and Zhao Wanrong.

"Everyone, don't worry. Ziyu is fine, and those injured will be alright too."

"Leaders from all departments, once the battlefield is cleared, gather at the Tower of Heaven's loft in one hour for a meeting."

With that, Ye Zian turned and walked away, returning to the top floor of the Tower of Heaven to start planning the next course of action.
