Apocalyptic Rebirth: With a repairman system space, she rises again.

Chapter 250: A returned Super human!

The air around Sunshine grew cold and this made the air in the room cold as well. It was like the windows and doors had been flung open and the winter air invited inside.

Lisha and Warren looked back and forth, quietly waiting for the hammer to fall.

"Sit your balls down and do not talk to my wife like that." Hades barked, cutting through the tension on the room.

Cory backed away, walking backwards slowly, eyes moving between Sunshine and the hammer. Between Hades and Mrs. grinch, he preferred Hades. His wife was dangerous.

As he sat down, he asked himself if she would have really hit him with the hammer.

The room remained tense as Sunshine set her backpack and hammer gently on the table. Her voice was calm but edged with iron. "Is this about the snake?" She pulled the chair back and sat down.

Nods rippled around the room.

Sunshine sighed, then forced a brittle smile. There was not a single peaceful day. "First of all, the ant colony is all gone. Completely destroyed. You are all welcome." She clapped sarcastically, the sound echoing in the heavy silence.

Dwayne joined her. "We appreciate all you do madam president."

"Yes," Warren clapped.

More than a few voices praised Sunshine with nervous smiles like she was a dictator looking for recognition.

"Yeah but the snake...." Cory started.

His words trailed off when everyone shot him scathing looks of warning. Major Elio even put his gun on the table, pointing the mouth in Cory's direction.

Cory shivered. Fortress Four became even scarier to him. Was everyone crazy around here? One person put a hammer on the table and another put a gun! Couldn't they be civil?

"I was not the only one that went out to fight the ants. I hope that the members of this committee have had kind words for those who went with me." She said.

As they whispered among themselves Sunshine requested the system to send the skin into her backpack. Then she withdrew it slowly, unfolding it for all to see.

"Holy mother of God." Hades said loudly.

Sister Anna screamed.

Father Nicodemus muttered, "I don't think God had anything to do with this."

Gasps swept the room as they focused their eyes on the snake. The scales glinted like metal shards wide and razor sharp. The size was enormous. A creature of that size was bound to be deadly.

"This is an anaconda like the one in the movies. They eat people." Lisha's lips trembled as she spoke.

Jin's voice broke. "Is....is it really that big? Did you see it?"

Questions erupted, accompanied by a chorus of fear.

"I said we should bomb that forest." Warren raised his voice. "If the area is clear, nothing can hide from our surveillance."

"And that leaves us open and vulnerable too." Morris shouted. "We are not offending the mountain god by destroying the forest."

"The mountain god is not real." Sister Anna growled like a woman tired of having the same conversation over and over.

Hades slammed Sunshine's normal sized hammer down. "Order!"

The room quieted at once.

Sunshine's eyes hardened. "We did not see the snake but we felt it's presence and I decided that we should run and not fight."

"Yeah, you did good. This thing would have eaten you all." Warren said bouncing his head in approval, he would have run too.

Jon moved to touch the skin but was stopped by Sunshine. "Don't even dare, we do not know what could happen in case you are cut by one of it's scales."

Jon cleared his throat and pulled back his hand. "So what do we know about this thing?" He asked no one in particular.

Silence took over, they turned their gazes to Sunshine.

Hades sighed. Once again, they were going to have to rely on his wife for answers and solutions.

Sunshine's eyes hardened. "It is a mutated snake but I do not know what species it is. The snake is not just large. It is intelligent too...."

"Like the watchers?" Hadrian asked.

Sunshine folded her hands. "Nothing is as intelligent as the watchers. Let's say like us but its goal might be vengeance or curiosity."

"Why do you say that?" Someone asked.

Folding her lips, Sunshine hesitated for a second. "Because I think that we have crossed paths with it when the team went to Wescott."

"Wescott?" Murmurs broke out, questions raising mostly from the billionaires. "What team went to Wescott?"

"What the hell were you guys even doing there in an apocalypse?"

Sunshine flashed a palm silencing them. "Your questions are irrelevant, we do not owe any of you an explanation. We went there during the acid rain shower, obviously we had a good reason to be there."

"So you think it tracked you guys back here?" Lisha asked.

Sunshine nodded. "Yes."

The silence that followed was suffocating, until Jin shouted. "This is unbelievable!"

Cory spun on the fortress four team. "This is all your fault, you brought that thing here."

Jon tried to calm him, but voices rose, anger sparkling like dry thunder.

"Enough!" Sunshine barked. "If it is after us, then your bases could be safe."

Jin scoffed, loudly. "Could?"

Sunshine ignored him. "No matter what its goal is, at the end of the day, the forest is home to different mutated creatures. Some, we will have to fight and others, we will have to co-exist with because they just want to survive, like us."

"What do we do now?" Lisha said, fidgeting with her fingers.

Kris let out a loud sigh. "This to me sounds like a Fortress four problem not ours."

Most of the people in the room glared at him.

"And just like that our alliance is over." Hades spat out angrily.

Jon spoke to his friends in a commanding tone. "Everyone quiet.....just stop talking alright? Listen, this is a problem for all of us. Mrs. Quinn says she doubts the creature will bother other bases but we do not know that for sure. I for one I am going to work with Fortress four on this matter."

The other billionaires began to grumble in disagreement, with some saying that Fortress four was capable of handling this on their own.

Before more could be said, static cracked through the radio. "Mr. and Mrs. Quinn come in."

"Mrs. Quinn here." Sunshine answered.

"There is a man outside the wall claiming to be part of the team from last night's mission." A voice came through.

Hadrian frowned. "Last night?" His eyes locked with Sunshine's.

"I thought you said the two who didn't return died out there?" Kris asked. His eyes had some accusations as he looked at Hades and Sunshine.

The room froze.

Lisha's fingers flew across the keyboard, her face showing a rare seriousness. "There, camera three." She notified them.

The monitors flickered and zoomed in, sharpening the image until everyone could see him clearly.

A man stood at the main gate, staring straight into the camera lens.

Sunshine noticed that it was the man who was fidgeting at the start of the mission. The mist had caused his death. But his body had been missing when they went back to look for it. "If he is alive after four hours in the cold, the only explanation is that he awakened."

Instantly, the billionaires erupted in joy especially Kris since this was his man. "Greg awakened! This is great."

"Another superhuman for us." Cory shouted.

They rushed out in a storm of excitement without waiting for Sunshine's opinion on the matter.

The Fortress four team followed them, slower and quieter. When they got to the gate, Hades ordered for it to be opened.

Greg entered the gates walking with his hands raised as armed soldiers were pointing guns at him.

The billionaires gathered around him in a semi circle, shouting praises, smiling like worshipers before an idol.

Greg looked on with disinterest, he only looked through them, his gaze empty.

Then without warning, he raised his voice as he looked at Sunshine and Hades. "Sir, ma'am I heard that you give benefits to super humans. I would like to move to Fortress four." His voice was calm yet serious.
