Apocalyptic Rebirth: With a repairman system space, she rises again.

Chapter 233: All bases to contribute.

For a heartbeat no one spoke. It was not because they lacked what to say, for there was actually too much to comment on about the circumstances they were faced with.

The trouble was how to put the words together and say the right thing. But what was the right thing?

This speechless struggle remained as the seconds counted on, helped along by the ticking of the clock on the wall which was a reminder that someone needed to say something as they lacked time to waste.

Then Sunshine let out a deep sigh and spoke to them all. "I know that you are all scared. Of course, some you will not admit this but I am not like that. I am scared. I hope that none of you will ever look down on the mutants or mutated monsters you meet. I also hope that you will take my words about the watchers more seriously. Their intelligence could even be far beyond what we see."

Carson shook his head, still in disbelief. "I have seen many things in my life but nothing like this. If I did not know any better I would think that they were setting us up."

Sunshine drew in breath. "I also think the same way. The colony is a death trap set by those watchers. Had we gone in blindly those beetles would probably have scorched us to death. Those who survived would have been injured so badly that they would not have made it far outside the forest. They would end up becoming food for the carnivores in the forest that are still surviving."

"The damn birds are playing with us. How did we provoke them to be schemed against like this?" Lisha cried out. "Suni what do we do now?"

Everyone put hesitation to the side. Suggestions came in fast on to how to deal with the ants. Bomb them with something stronger than their own fire. Poison them, freeze them, smash them.

No matter what was suggested, Warren insisted on the bombs and he would not shut up about it.

"The watchers will grab the bomb before it gets to the colony. If it is not clear to you yet, those birds are protecting the insects from all airborne threats." Hadrian told him.

Hades nodded in agreement. "They want us to go there in person and face off against the ants."

His words raised a storm of opinions. Half the people in the room did not agree with the idea because that kind of battle would not be easy to fight.

"How is this any different from when we took on the eagles?" Morris slammed his meaty fists on the table. "My people and I ready to fight."

Sunshine motioned for silence. "Let us not rush, think different. Think bigger. Because if we do not uproot all the bugs completely in one battle, this could end in a disaster for all of us."

Before the weight of it all could sink further, the intercom cracked live.

"Ma'am, Mr. Kingsley and the other neighbors are here."

Hades roared. "What the hell do they want now?"

"It is actually good that they are here." Sunshine said. "Bring them in."

She moved to the window and looked at the bubble. All the watchers returned and they were back to doing what they loved best: watching. They were staring at the vehicles that were driving into the base.

The billionaires inside those vehicles were doing some staring of their own. They were surprised because their vehicles were being led into the second wall.

Hades never allowed them to step even near the gate before, acting like he kept treasures hidden in there. Their eyes lingered too long on the tidy quadrangles, the rows of reinforced stone houses neat systems of pipes and gardens.

Their envy was obvious and none of them tried to hide it. Their sighs were many.

Not all of them were willing to admit this of course.

As soon as they stepped out of their cars and gathered together, Cory shared his opinion. "I thought it would be more organized with how Hades was hiding it, I am so disappointed." He pouted and walked on.

A soldier scoffed. The man said one thing but the look of jealousy on his face said another.

They were led into the information center, there they met the core management team and introductions for those that had not met each other started.

Jon was the first to break the silence. His pale face was damp with sweat. "We saw thousands of drones Hades and the flash bangs and squeaking. I am kind of frightened now." He admitted, his voice shaking. "Please tell us that it's just a security drill like Sheldon suspected."

"You should be frightened." Hades responded. "And unlike what Sheldon thought, this is not a drill. Our bases are actually in danger."

"For fuck's sake. Can't a man live out this damn apocalypse in peace?" Sheldon cursed quietly. He had not wanted to inquire if something was wrong because he preferred not to get involved.

Hades and his team at fortress four always handled things on the mountain. What if they involved them in fighting some mutated creatures out there and died?

Sunshine nodded at Lisha and she showed the footage. The billionaires eyes widened, jaws falling slack as they watched the swarming of ants

"What the fuck!" Jon shouted when the back sides of the ants exploded.

"We were planning to share this with all of you later as it concerns all of our bases. We had one bug invade our base and ruin some grain." Sunshine informed them slowly. "If they make it inside any base, we are all in trouble. And they will go from one to another until none of our bases is left standing."

Questions erupted, accompanied by overlapping voices of fear and disbelief. "How close are they? Are you sure they are coming our way? How much time do we have? What do we do?"

Sunshine answered the questions that she could but even she, did not have the most important answer of what they were going to do. She was not sure if her ice powers would contain the flames of the beetles.

Jon trembled. "If they are coming to our bases, which base will be affected first?"

Jin, the quietest until now, raised his eyes. "If my calculations are right.....Sheldon's base lies directly in their path."

There was silence for just a breath. Then, shockingly sighs of relief. Their shoulders eased, exchanging quick furtive glances.

Even Sheldon himself gave a small shrug, as though a burden had been lifted off his shoulders.

Hades' brow furrowed. "Why aren't you freaking out? Especially you Sheldon shouldn't you be the most worried person in this room?"

Jon's lips moved first, fumbling. "Sheldon spends most of his time at my base, he and his people can move in with me."

"And my base is small and poorly built. It won't be such a loss. It is better they attack my base than the others." Sheldon added.

For now it was better to keep the truth that all the people Hades dumped at Jon's were at Sheldon's base.

Sunshine cleared her throat. "We are going to need all bases to contribute men in this fight if we are to face off against the bugs. Fortress four is not going to deal with this alone." Her gaze swept allover the billionaires. "Ten men from each base will do."

Sheldon swallowed. "I do not have the ten men, most of them run off....."

"Then count yourself among the ten you are bringing." Sunshine stated.

Sheldon swallowed. This is the exact same shit that I was trying to avoid. He thought.
