Apocalyptic Rebirth: With a repairman system space, she rises again.

Chapter 231: Drones Vs watchers.

Her eyes were on the bubble, scanning like they could see through it. Whether Pink was looking at her or not, she could not tell. All she could see was those fierce intimidating eyes gazing down on the base with determination not to let them to get their way.

The more reluctant the watchers were to let her get a glimpse into the colony, the determined she was to defy them.

This was not provoking them, it was simply taking care of business.

There was a trembling noise as the drones soared into the sky and shot out like missiles on the run. The comms officers were nervous and some had shaky hands. They had been told that this was an urgent mission. Man Vs watcher. Speed was the only chance they had to win.

"Everyone be alert!" Sunshine told those navigating the drones through the open line. "Don't just move in a straight line, do some zigzagging. Just because they know what we are up to does not mean we should make it easy for them."

On the monitors in the command center, the feed split into dozens of flickering squares. Some showed drones, some captured their surrounding, some monitored the ground while others showed the watchers.

"Uh-oh! The watchers have taken even more interest and they are preparing to set off." Lisha alerted everyone.

Sunshine saw them unfurling their unrealistic sized wings and then they soared to the skies, following the direction of the drones. "Remember what I told you, avoid the watchers in every way possible. Do not attack them and do not provoke them, just stick to your mission of getting to your destination. We must see what this colony is all about."

It was all smooth sailing so far. The watchers were simply following the drones like they were innocent harmless birds on a migration mission.

Sunshine was nervous but hopeful. Maybe they just wanted to watch.

But as soon as they reached above the part of the forest beyond the bubble a watcher snatched one and crushed it. One of the squares on the monitoring screen went dark.

"One down, twenty nine to go." Lisha announced loudly through a speaker, forgetting that everyone could see for themselves what was happening.

"More acrobatic." Sunshine raised her stern voice, shouting into the walkie-talkie. "Dip, twirl, loop, roll, flip....what else?"

The drones began to move in an unpredictable way, twisting, turning, darting and moving in chaotic patterns.

Major Elio took over from Sunshine. "Pulse drift, decoy split, hover stall."

"Go through the woods themselves and use the forest for cover." Hades added.

The comms officers became more serious, avoiding the watchers efficiently.

Upon seeing this, the Pink watcher stared into the air and made a squeaking sound, the watchers that had stayed on the bubble rose and followed the first ones. If it was a numbers game, they were going to even the playing field.

"It is the leader alright." Sunshine left the window and stood before the giant screen. One of her hands nervously scratched her thigh and her breath came in quick but short bursts.

She was more nervous now that she had been earlier because she had a feeling that the watchers were now serious.

And she was right because Pink herself soared upwards, joining the battle. She was fast...faster than a bullet. Her movements were swift and precise. Within seconds, she was above one drone.

One of her wings curved like a sword and the drone was sliced in two. Another square on the screen died. Two seconds later, another fell into the snow and its feed turned into static.

"We lost two more. Twenty seven drones left." Lisha rattled off.

Dwayne clenched his fists. "God damn it! We are not going to make it Sunshine."

"Five more down." Lisha shared..."Wait, make it six. They are now moving faster than before and we are entering the teens people."

Dwayne slapped a pot of flowers on the table, not realizing that there was a Thermaline seed in the pot, hidden in the flowers.

"We only need one to make it there." Sunshine whispered to herself.

The Pink watcher shrieked suddenly, looking at the sky as if it was summoning rain or another meteor shower. The sound caused tremors in the air and vibrations in the ground. A few glass windows on the base shattered and three more squares on the screen went dark.

Babies were crying, animals were howling. In the base and in the forest.

"Wait! They can make sounds!" Morris' eyes widened in shock as he spoke.

Sunshine was stunned herself but then again. She had never seen a watcher making a sound in her past life. They just watched or killed. No sounds. But again, she never saw a watcher with pink stripes in her previous life so she was learning new knowledge like everyone else.

Were there more? Like commanders of the mist or something like that? Sunshine wondered.

At the sound of the pink haired watcher's squeal, the watchers aggressively attacked the drones. The comms officers continued to battle and drones spiraled away tactfully, twisting sharply. Some escaped, the others were snatched mid air, crumpled like toys by the claws.

"We have lost Nineteen drones, only eleven remain." Lisha announced in a shaky voice.

Sunshine slammed the console table. "Keep flying." She barked. "No matter what happens just keep flying."

The pilots obeyed, fingers flying across the controls. Carson took over from one of the pilots. "Boys watch and learn." He said as he wore the listening device.

"Sir...." The pilot said, wondering if Carson knew how to fly the drone.

Carson laughed knowingly. "I was once on the air force. Knowing how to fly a plane is one of the conditions for being a special secret service agent."

Dwayne and Sunshine exchanged impressed looks. "I am guessing that you have a plan Carson." Sunshine spoke through the line.

"Yes ma'am." Carson answered. "We only need one drone to make it there. The others should distract, or even play with the watchers. I will get this one there."

As Carson's drone darted, looped and rolled the other drones deliberately drew attention, baiting the watchers. Some played silly music. One dropped fire crackers that exploded mid-air. Two released yellow and blue smoke in the sky.

Carson's drone streaked ahead, slipping by the chaos.

"Whatever you do....do not shoot the watchers." Sunshine reminded them.

The battle in the sky grew savage, the pink haired watcher slapped one drone with its wing. The force alone was enough to shatter it into spinning debris. Another swooped from below, jaws snapping, teeth crunching with metal like brittle bones.

"They have teeth?" Lisha seemed alarmed, her shock mirrored that of everyone else.

Sunshine was surprised as well. What kind of birds had teeth? Were the watchers some kind of dinosaur variation with wings?

"How many drones do we have left?" She asked

"Only three." Lisha responded.

"Carson is almost there." Dwayne alerted them, zooming in on the feed.

Sunshine nodded. "Listen boys, Carson is almost there, now I need you drop those flash bombs. Hurry because Pink has caught on to what we are doing."

The three drones started dropping flash bombs. Squares parted on the upper parts of the third wall and canon heads looked up.

Hades tapped a button a computer and they fired flash bombs in the sky. Rumbling and intense light filled part of the sky around them.
