Chu Miao and her team didn't expect to walk out of the forest before dark. However, what appeared in front of them was a long and deep canyon. The canyon had signs of battle and deep scorch marks left from thousands of years ago.

There were sparse and short trees that had red leaves growing there but no sign of grass. The leaves looked as if they had been dyed with blood and what surprised them was that even though there was little vegetation in the canyon, there weren't any fallen leaves on the ground.

That was definitely not normal. How could leaves from a tree, especially a tree growing in such a barren place not shade leaves? It made no sense.

But they didn't say anything and kept moving forward. What was abundant inside that canyon were rocks. There were rocks of every size from fist size to ones as large as houses.

And just like the leaves, the rocks were also red. Well, they thought that they couldn't judge anything from the color and just assumed that was the natural color of the rocks.

The only issue that gave them the creeps was that the place was quiet. Too quiet.

"This place gives me the creeps." Qi Long, one of the companions who doesn't talk much expressed his discomfort.

"That's for sure." Murong Yi added. He too couldn't get rid of the chills that ran down his spine as they walked further.

"Have any of you realized that the temperature here is higher than the forest? Even higher than the plateau we landed in when we came in?" Jing Xian asked while looking around with scrutiny.

"Don't scare yourself, but don't let your guard down either. There might be something dangerous here, or it could be an opportunity. So, just be careful." Chu Miao didn't want her friends to lose focus because of overthinking.

So, she comforted them and walked faster to lead the way. Ye Xuan followed to walk beside her while her brother, who had a similar cultivation to Ye Xuan took the rear to guard against any accidents or sneak attacks.

They had walked quite deep into the forest when they heard some hissing sound. And not just from one place but it was coming from different directions.

Moreover, they could also detect movement with the hissing.

"Snakes." Ye Xuan said while looking around vigilantly.

He also subconsciously pulled Chu Miao's hand and pulled her behind him while he took a protective stance.

What was more was that they were poisonous. She could tell that from the black stuff they were spraying out of their mouths with their split tongues.

"Everyone, I don't think weapons will work with these. Use your superpowers and elements to fight.

Also, the snakes are poisonous, don't let them bite you. I am not sure whether the detoxification pills we have can detoxify their poison." Chu Miao instructed as her hands started to form seals and soon, they were covered by light energy.

The others also put away their weapons and started to activate their cultivation. Since they had come here to improve their cultivation, they decided to use their elements instead of superpowers.

Ye Xuan stood back-to-back with Chu Miao to fight together and the others teamed up as well so that they could watch each other's back and prevent accidents.

The snakes were completely red with one or two black stripes on their back. They were almost one meter long and moved at an incredible speed.

Chu Miao shot light balls at the snakes and they behaved as if they had been set on fire. There would be a burning sound and the snakes would writhe their bodies while hissing even louder.

Everywhere that the light balls fell, the snakes would turn to skeletons. This way of dealing with them was very efficient.

Ye Xuan who had his back against hers was also doing the same. Except, he was spreading a curtain of darkness energy towards the snakes and wherever that curtain passed, the hissing sound would stop almost immediately.
