Apocalypse: My Talent Is Infinite

Chapter 64: Heal

Aron was surprised, genuinely surprised, but his face didn't show a hint of it.

Even in an apocalypse, hearing a grown man speak with a woman's voice wasn't exactly normal.

"Why should I spare them?" Aron asked at last, tilting his head toward D-One after processing the bizarre scene.

"Because D-One is the champion of this world, and I..."

The voice suddenly cut off.

D-One..or whatever was speaking through him, felt the sudden, razor-edged killing intent lock onto them.

"Do you think I give a damn about your origin story?" Aron said coldly.

"I asked a simple question. I expect a simple answer. Don't make me repeat myself."

He glanced at the glowing timer in front of him:

[Godmode (Internal Authority): Increase self-strength by 300×; consumes 250 years of lifespan every 20 seconds.

Replication Timer: 3 seconds remaining.]

Aron didn't have time for small talk.

He knew that, given D-One and Ana's current state, and his own strength, nothing could protect them if he decided to strike again.

If he missed this chance and reverted to his normal state, killing them would become an entirely different kind of stress, one he had no interest in going through.

Sensing the intensity of Aron's killing intent, the being inhabiting D-One realized he wasn't bluffing.

"I am the core of this planet, Solar," the voice declared solemnly.

"I chose D-One as my champion to fight for this world's right to ascend above others. To strengthen him, I performed a forbidden fusion. His body merged with my essence. But such power comes at a terrible price. Our lives are now bound together. If he dies, I die. And when I die, every living being within me dies, including you."

Aron's expression didn't flicker. "All you're telling me are more reasons to kill him," he said flatly. "You still haven't told me why I shouldn't."

The voice hesitated, utterly stunned. Did this human just…?

"Didn't you hear me?" it stammered. "If he dies, we all die!"

The spectators, who had been silently watching, heard every word exchanged between Aron and D-One.

The shocking revelation, that there were other worlds, and that D-One's death meant the death of everyone, hit them like a thunderclap.

Those who had been rooting for Aron to finish him off felt their hearts freeze.

Ninety-six percent of them had been cheering for D-One's death moments ago.

Now, all they could do was hope, pray, that Aron would have a change of heart.

No one could remain calm knowing their life and death were tied to another person's existence.

Amid the chaos, Jergenmay was the only one who didn't look surprised.

LordMoonlight, on the other hand, looked utterly shocked, eyes wide in disbelief at what he'd just heard.

Aron didn't bother replying.

His gaze shifted to the timer, it was down to two seconds.

A strange calm washed over him.

The thought of ending his miserable life while taking the world with it didn't bother his conscience in the slightest.

His only regret was never being able to repay his brother for sparing him that day.

Sigh...

A faint smile crossed his face.

Aron charged forward, not bothering to converse with the world core anymore.

His only goal was to kill, and that was exactly what he intended to do.

The world core, Solar, felt it.

Every part of her existence screamed one word: death.

"No...!"

Before the word even left her mouth, Aron's fist was already inches from D-One's head.

"Heal!"

A calm, soothing voice echoed across the battlefield.

BOOOOOOM.

A shockwave tore through the ground as dust erupted, engulfing everything.

The spectators watched, trembling.

Fear and despair filled their hearts; they didn't have the strength to intervene.

All they could do was watch, and hope.

When the dust finally cleared, they saw Aron standing there, arm still outstretched from his punch.

D-One lay on the ground, still unconscious, completely uninjured.

Aron's eyes widened. The moment that serene "Heal" was spoken, every trace of his Godmode vanished.

His amplified strength, his internal authority, gone.

Before the timer even hit zero, he was back to his normal strength.

Shock turned to disbelief. Disbelief hardened into fury. Then, pure, unfiltered rage.

His eyes, cold as winter steel, locked onto a distant figure.

Jergenmay stood atop a building beside LordMoonlight, whose wide-eyed shock had yet to fade.

Jergenmay met Aron's eyes, her expression calm yet firm. "Even though he isn't perfect," she said softly, her voice carrying across the distance, "he's still my family. I won't allow you to kill him."

"How about we let byg..."

"You might as well follow your family to death," Aron cut her off, voice glacial, eyes burning with quiet wrath.
