Chapter 569: War-1
Past:
"What if," Narak began slowly, "we stop thinking about becoming human again… and make everyone else like us?"
The green-skinned zombie king tilted his head. "You mean… turn everyone into zombies?"
"Yes," Narak said firmly. "If everyone is a zombie, no one will be treated like an outcast. There will be no humans to hate us. No humans to kill us. No humans to tell us to leave."
The gray-skinned one scratched his chin. "But… if everyone's a zombie, who will we eat?"
Narak's lips curved into a faint smile. "We will not need to eat humans. We can change. We can grow our own food, build our own homes, and make our own rules. And maybe… maybe we can even become human again in time."
The brown-skinned zombie king leaned forward. "How can you be so sure? No one has ever done that."
Narak's eyes darkened, but there was a flicker of hope in them. "Because it is happening to me."
The others looked confused. "What do you mean?" the green-skinned one asked.
Narak slowly rolled up his sleeve. His forearm was still pale green, but parts of it looked almost… normal. The veins were not as dark. The skin looked softer.
"I was born human. I became a zombie. But as I grow stronger, my body changes. My heartbeat has returned. My skin is losing its color. I feel… alive again."
The gray-skinned zombie king's eyes widened. "That's… impossible."
"No," Narak said firmly. "It is the truth. The stronger I get, the more I feel like I did before. Maybe if I reach the peak of our power, I can be human again."
The green-skinned one looked thoughtful. "So… if we make everyone a zombie, and they grow stronger, they might become human again, too?"
"Exactly," Narak said. "We can start a new world. At first, it will be hard. But once everyone is the same, there will be no more fear. No more war between humans and zombies."
The brown-skinned one frowned. "And if they do not become human?"
"Then we will still have a world where we are not hunted like animals," Narak replied. "That is already better than now."
The gray-skinned zombie king nodded slowly. "I… like this idea."
The green-skinned one grinned. "Yes! No more hiding. No more walls to keep us out."
The brown-skinned zombie king still looked unsure, but he said nothing more.
Narak stood from his throne. "We will start with the nearby human bases. We will turn them. But to do this, we must grow stronger first."
"How?" asked the green-skinned one.
Narak's eyes gleamed. "There are places called red zones. Places filled with energy that can make us stronger, faster than anything else."
The gray-skinned one's eyes lit up. "I heard of those. But they are dangerous. Even for us."
Narak smirked. "I have already been to one. That is why I am changing now."
The green-skinned king blinked. "You… survived?"
"Yes," Narak said simply. "And I will return. We will all go. But we must be careful. Red zones are full of mutated beasts and traps. Many will die."
The brown-skinned one crossed his arms. "Then why risk it?"
"Because," Narak said, looking at each of them, "if we control the red zones, we control the future. Every zombie who trains there will become stronger. We will no longer be weak prey for human weapons."
The green-skinned zombie king nodded eagerly. "When do we start?"
"Soon," Narak replied. "First, we gather our strongest soldiers. Then, we strike a nearby base. We will turn them into one of us."
Narak's eyes narrowed. "Remember, this is not just about revenge. This is about building something new. We are not just destroying their world… we are replacing it."
The gray-skinned one grinned. "We will make them zombies like us."
"Yes," Narak said. "And once they are like us, they will understand. They will stop fearing us. They will join us."
The brown-skinned one muttered under his breath. "If they live long enough."
Narak ignored the comment. "Get ready."
Years passed, and Narak slowly became even more powerful.
................
Present:
Narak stood in the center of the ruined hall, looking over the other Zombie Kings. His pale green eyes swept from one to another. His voice was calm but heavy, like he was tired of repeating himself.
"We are close to our goal," he said slowly. "Very soon, everyone will be like us. There is no need to question me anymore. From now on, just follow my lead."
The green-skinned Zombie King nodded right away. "Yes, Narak. We trust you."
The gray-skinned one gave a sharp nod. "You have led us this far. We will not fail now."
The brown-skinned Zombie King, the one who had once questioned Narak before, stayed silent. His golden eyes narrowed slightly, but he said nothing. Inside, he was thinking about something no one else seemed to notice.
They do not see it, he thought.
'Narak has become smarter… more human… but the rest of us are still the same as when we turned. We are stuck at the minds of children. We follow him because we cannot plan for ourselves. If Narak's theory was right, we would have changed by now, too.'
He kept his mouth shut. The others were too loyal to Narak, and saying anything now would only make him an enemy.
Narak raised his head. "Prepare. Tomorrow, we move."
...................
Next Morning.
Inside the command center, Su Jiyai sat at a long table, her fingers tapping on the surface. Her face was calm, but her eyes were sharp, watching the movement of red dots on the holographic map.
Qin Feng stood beside her with his arms crossed. "They will come soon."
Su Jiyai gave a small nod. "Yes. Once they attack, it will be clear that they were the ones who broke the agreement first. Then we will deal with them… without guilt."
Xi Ping was leaning against the wall, smiling faintly. "I was getting bored anyway."
Jake chuckled, "Let them come. I've been wanting to test out my powers."
The room stayed quiet after that, each person preparing in their own way. Outside, the sky was gray, heavy with the smell of rain.
Su Jiyai kept her eyes on the monitor the entire time.
At first, they looked like a shadow, but the shadow kept growing. Soon she saw them clearly. Zombie Kings. Dozens of them. And behind them… waves of zombies.
Her voice was calm, but it carried through the radio. "Positions. Everyone get ready."
Qin Feng lifted his binoculars. "There are… a lot of them. At least a hundred thousand."
"And more coming," XiPing added. "They have been planning this for a long time."
Su Jiyai's eyes narrowed. "Then we will make them regret it."
The army of undead came closer and closer. The humans in the base watched from the walls. Their hands tightened around their weapons.
Finally, the Zombie Kings reached the electric fence. Su Jiyai expected to see them fried in a bright flash. But instead, she froze.
Each Zombie King was wearing a strange, dark suit.
They stepped forward without hesitation. Sparks jumped against the fabric, but nothing happened. One by one, they walked through the electric wall like it was not even there.
Su Jiyai's eyes widened. "How…? Where did they get suits like that?"
Qin Feng's jaw tightened. "Someone gave them tech… or they made it themselves."
"We do not have time to think about it now," Su Jiyai said. "They are inside."
In seconds, the base's alarms screamed. Civilians shouted and ran.
One of the Zombie Kings lunged toward a young woman who had tripped. His claws reached for her...
A blur of motion. Su Jiyai appeared, grabbing the woman by the arm and pulling her back. With her other hand, she punched the Zombie King square in the face. The crack of impact made nearby soldiers flinch.
"Stay behind the lines!" Su Jiyai ordered the woman before turning back to the Zombie King.
It was the first time many people had seen their leader fight. Her speed was like lightning. She ducked under a swing, kicked the Zombie King's knee, then slammed her elbow into his chest.
"She's incredible," one soldier breathed.
Inspired, the others charged forward. Gunfire cracked through the air. Blades flashed.
But these were not normal zombies. Some moved with unnatural speed, darting between bullets. Others had monstrous strength, tearing metal apart.
Jake cursed as he dodged a swipe. "These things are tougher than usual!"
"Focus on the head or the heart!" Qin Feng shouted, spinning and delivering a blow that sent a Zombie King stumbling back.
Su Jiyai was already pushing toward the front, where Narak himself was fighting. Every time their weapons clashed, the ground shook.
Narak's voice was calm, even in battle. "You fight well. But you cannot stop us."
"We will see about that," Su Jiyai replied, striking again.
She could feel his strength. He was faster than most, and his attacks were much sharper compared to previous time. But...
