Apocalypse: I Build A Doomsday Train

Chapter 324: Escapees from the Star Abyss_2

The solution Lin Xian initially considered for this issue was AI intelligence, but the more he thought about it, the more he felt something was off. What did it have to do with him if the intelligence control system manipulated the drones to attack?

Wouldn't he just become a 'mothership' for producing drones?

Thinking this, Lin Xian closed his eyes and frowned slightly. This... indeed seemed to be a problem.

How could the human brain simultaneously manage thousands of units acting independently...

When fighting Lao Xie, he could only control them all to attack simultaneously. Beyond that, he could only hand over control to the drones' automatic unit after targeting at present.

...

Whoosh!

On the other side, KIKI, Chen Sixuan, and Brother Huo, along with the Infinity and a team including Luo Yang and Liang Lei, charged forward. The rumbling vibration of the convoy made the sand and dead grass along the path tremble.

Woo~

The engine sound gradually lowered in frequency as the surrounding wind and sand raged. KIKI quickly locked onto an area with the highest overlap degree by following the signal package trace of the Iron Alliance Order from Lao Xie. Then, by using triangulation, they found the location named Wangfeng Valley. However, when they were still tens of kilometers away from the target point, Chen Sixuan suggested to park first and let KIKI take her and Brother Huo to scout ahead.

With their mobility, they would handle any issues encountered more effectively.

Amongst the trio, only Chen Sixuan was wearing full-body Power Armor, while Brother Huo wore the Lone Wolf Power Armor with a windproof mask. KIKI was in simple attire of shorts and a leather jacket, using a Telekinesis Shield to keep out the wind and sand.

"That location should be about twenty-seven or eight kilometers from here, quite hidden."

"These sand bandit outposts are quite far apart from each other, and all are in some uninhabited areas. Besides zombies and Abnormal Bodies finding their way there, fleeing survivors generally don't have the will or energy to seek them out."

Chen Sixuan cautiously said this was her first time leading a mission alone without Lin Xian, and it was a violent mission to raid the sand bandits' stronghold. Although she appeared calm on the surface, she could barely contain her excitement.

She didn't know how to describe this feeling, but Chen Sixuan truly enjoyed more and more this thrill of sharp perception and powerful force, taking down enemies kilometers away.

This was a stark contrast to the Chen Sixuan who once didn't even dare throw a piece of chalk at people.

"Let's hurry and take a look. If we miss something with this two-hour dust storm, wouldn't we be running in vain?"

As KIKI spoke, she used telekinesis to bring the two of them along towards the target point.

While flying, Chen Sixuan said in a stern voice, "This location is deep in an uninhabited area, far from traffic routes and towns. Even if it's not the Sand Scorpion Gang's old lair, it must be a place they use to hide or transact something. Otherwise, their signals wouldn't frequently appear in this area."

Brother Huo crossed his arms, seeming a bit displeased that he was still carried by KIKI's telekinesis despite being able to fly: "Did you two forget that I can now fly in midair?"

"Shut up, just follow along." KIKI said unceremoniously.

Chen Sixuan glanced at Brother Huo and said softly, "Your flight is too fast, and the flames and smoke easily give us away. Right now, we're scouting, so don't act rashly."

Upon hearing Chen Sixuan's words, Lu Xingchen thought it made perfect sense, wanted to say something but held it in, coughed twice, and then nodded, starting to focus his attention on being alert to the distance.

Soon, the three of them flew close to the ground along the target direction. When they reached a cliff over a wind-swept hill, Chen Sixuan suddenly said to KIKI,

"Stop!"

KIKI promptly controlled them to land, and Chen Sixuan immediately crouched down and aimed a sniper rifle into the distance.

Through the electronic scope, a large wasteland outpost came into view. It seemed to be an abandoned Federation signal station, located under an eroded rocky mountain, and at first glance, it covered quite a large area. The entire outpost was pieced together by rusty tanker trucks, abandoned car wrecks, and welded iron plates. Several twisted steel tower structures stood in the corners, with old searchlights and heavy machine guns mounted on top, along with many flamethrowers, defense grids, and other equipment, indicating a high defense level.

In the outpost, aside from the original observation station buildings, there were a dozen or so tin houses with forty to fifty heavily modified post-apocalyptic vehicles of various sizes parked inside. They were covered with various brambles, steel thorns, and bizarre graffiti, looking extremely flamboyant. The abandoned signal station's satellite dishes had been removed and used as sunshades, with various newly installed radar and warning devices atop.

Chen Sixuan gently adjusted the scope for magnification and saw that there were a dozen or so figures moving within the outpost. Some were smoking on the watchtower, and under the shade of the shelters, some people seemed to be playing cards. Further into the view, she saw a small air-raid shelter equipped with a heavy bomb-proof door painted with the Sand Scorpion Gang's emblem. It appeared to be a living area for the leaders or key members, or used to store supplies and ammunition.

"We have found the right place. This is indeed the Sand Scorpion Gang's old lair."

Chen Sixuan raised her hand to signal the two beside her to crouch down, and continued, "Wait a minute..."

She kept adjusting the scope, and suddenly noticed under a few shelters deeper within the outpost, there were several large cages welded with tin and steel frames, imprisoning quite a few people.

Almost all of them were in tattered clothes, barely breathing, and although they were several kilometers away, Chen Sixuan seemed to sense the aura of despair within them.
