Chapter 257: Intimate Bathtub
Inside the slave shop.
Malala quickly returned to her office, changed clothes, and went to meet her strongest customer.
As soon as Malala walked in, Lin Yi said, "You're two minutes late."
"I took a little time picking out the right outfit, so I could do you proud, right?"
Spider Woman said with a charming smile.
She was wearing a splendid purple dress. The outfit was surprisingly elegant, yet it didn't hide her great figure at all.
She blew a kiss at Lin Yi, and he immediately waved it away.
"Shall we go?" Malala asked with a giggle, and Lin Yi silently nodded.
Everyone headed to Eighth Street.
Malala was accompanied by four bodyguards, one of whom was a beautiful female Mage.
Along the way, she carefully explained the auction to Lin Yi, including the rules and some interesting auction items,
she also told Lin Yi that she was going to sell a very special female slave, and he should try for it.
They soon arrived in front of a huge white dome building.
There were many guards here, looking quite impressive.
Their weapons and armor looked especially like some kind of super advanced technology!
Noticing Lin Yi's gaze, Malala again attentively explained to him.
"In the Sea of Space-Time, all auctions are hosted by a great race—the Ancient Race Elder Council. Why are they called 'Elders'? I don't know, and I don't recommend asking them either."
As Malala spoke, she glanced from the guards to her companion, particularly reminding him.
"It's best not to speak with them at all, it usually doesn't end well."
Lin Yi smiled and just shrugged.
They walked in through the main entrance.
This door was very large, and the interior was simple yet tasteful, though very different from the outside.
There were screens displaying auction items, pleasant music playing, and ventilation systems.
Spider Woman silently walked over to a small counter, where a blue-haired alien woman stood.
"Hello, Ms. Malala. Here is your room card. Good luck at the auction."
The alien woman said, bowing, and handed Malala something resembling a plastic card, just a bit narrower than the business cards used on Earth.
"Thank you." Spider Woman took the card and glanced at Lin Yi, "If you want, you can sit with me in my private room."
"Would my lascivious subordinates fit?"
Malala shook her head.
To this, Lin Yi could only helplessly decline.
"That's too bad. I can't leave them alone, you know, they're really troublesome."
At this moment, the blue-haired alien woman looked at Lin Yi.
"Hello, are you here to watch the auction or to participate in it?"
"Participate in the auction."
"Are you a buyer or seller?"
"Buyer."
"Then the entrance fee is 100 Coins per person."
The woman said, glancing over Lin Yi's group, while maintaining a professional smile.
Lin Yi then pondered for a moment, and said to the woman, "Uh... do sellers have to pay?"
"Sellers with VIP status get a free room. To obtain VIP status, you need to register an item worth at least 10,000 Coins."
"Is that so? Uh... so how do you register an item, and how do you know how much it's worth?"
"You'll need to talk to the Appraiser. If you want, I can take you to meet him."
The alien woman subtly sized up Lin Yi, and he could sense that this man had great strength.
Lin Yi looked at Solomon: "You all stay here, and... behave."
Solomon immediately nodded, seriously agreeing.
The Appraiser's office was just a hundred yards away.
As soon as he entered the room, he heard a voice.
"How may I assist you?"
He looked in the direction the voice came from, and it turned out to be an elderly alien.
This guy looked particularly like a frog.
His skin was pale green, covered with warts, with a huge mouth and tiny, completely yellow eyes.
"I'm considering selling something, but I don't know what's popular right now. Any suggestions?"
Lin Yi said as he sat down in a sci-fi designed comfortable chair, staring directly at the old frog man.
The frog man blinked twice, making a slight creaking and popping noise.
"Hmm... Original Skill Books, of course, and system items, but not weapons."
The old man spoke in a language called Ancient Xara Atem, as shown by the translator.
This language was commonly used among the locals, but he spoke with a bit of a drawl, and his accent sounded amusing, like he had a mouth full of saliva.
Lin Yi thought for a moment about what to sell...
He actually didn't want to sell Skills, so he needed to figure out the whole mechanism of 'Instance vs. Original.'
"How much do you think this can sell for?" Lin Yi took out a metal cylinder.
This was a Restoration Vaccine that could turn newly zombified humans back into humans.
The frog man put on black gloves, and upon touching the vaccine, he gasped.
"This is a very good, very rare item, the starting bid is... thirty thousand Coins."
The alien kept nodding as he spoke.
Lin Yi was a bit surprised: "So many?"
"No one wants to die because of a small mistake. Nowadays, advanced monsters are very smart, and warriors can't always carry vaccines of the appropriate level with them."
The appraiser said this as he placed the vaccine on the table, his eyes full of anticipation.
"You have two vaccines, right? I suggest you put them up as one auction item, so you can earn at least twenty percent more."
"That works, so what should I do? How do I get them to the auction?"
"Just a moment..."
The frogman took out a form, filled it out, stamped it, and handed it to Lin Yi.
"The registrar's office is next door. Give this form to him, he'll handle it, but hurry, the auction is about to start."
"Thank you!"
Lin Yi left the office and was led by the blue-haired alien woman into another office.
It turned out the registrar was also a frogman.
But he was older, his skin paler, and most of the warts on his body had dried up and fallen off.
He didn't ask any unnecessary questions, just took the form and entered the information into a computer.
Once everything was complete, the blue-haired alien woman handed him a room card with a slight smile.
She seriously said his private room was on the third floor, and if he didn't understand anything, he could ask her anytime.
She usually didn't do this kind of work, but she would make an exception for Lin Yi.
Lin Yi agreed amiably, and then brought his nine subordinates to the room.
"Not bad."
The room was luxuriously decorated, with several screens, a control panel, large tinted windows, and small comfy sofas.
The auction was held in a place similar to an amphitheater, divided into three areas.
The lower area was for the buyers to sit.
The slightly higher middle area was reserved for the audience.
The last area included the VIP rooms like the one Lin Yi was in, located near the ceiling, providing a good view of the auction.
This room was well soundproofed, allowing those inside to participate in the auction remotely.
"Boss, there's a menu here. Can we order something? But I can't understand what's written on it..."
Lin Yi tossed him the translator.
Piero glanced at it and his eyes widened.
"There's food and drinks, and even girls... and boys... and... zombies? Why would anyone want zombies?!"
"Maybe they'd eat zombies," the professor said, peeking at the menu over Piero's shoulder.
"I'm just showing you around, but don't order anything. This is outside, you can't be too careful."
Lin Yi said sternly, then continued observing his surroundings.
There were about a few hundred buyers at the auction, which had already started.
But they were only selling some small items to warm up the buyers, including weapons, armor, and rare skill book copies.
The auctioneer was an extremely beautiful alien woman, with a very pleasant voice.
Her skin was silver, and her hair long, reaching the floor.
Her hair was not only flame-colored but seemed to have life, smoothly transitioning from one color to another.
She was as slender as a willow but carried a unique alien aura.
The first few auction items received almost no bids.
They mostly sold for slightly above the starting price, but as the auction progressed, the buyers became more active.
The screens in the private room displayed various information about each new auction item.
Lin Yi didn't see anything particularly attractive, and he wanted to save his money for that bottle of Evolution Potion, planning to buy it regardless of the price.
Soon, the auction reached its midpoint.
There were slaves, information, and even a treasure chest!
It was a green treasure chest, like the one Lin Yi had obtained after defeating the Zombie Lord in the Battle of Brussels.
But the price quickly soared to 100,000 coins.
Lin Yi felt it wasn't worth it and didn't participate.
Eventually, this item sold for 215,000 coins.
The next auction item was... a bathtub filled with some deep blue liquid.
Two strong beastmen lifted it out, then quickly left.
Their faces clearly bore expressions of fear.
"Ladies and gentlemen, next is an exceptionally unusual auction item. This creature doesn't have a name, but we call it 'Chimera.' The starting price is 20,000 coins."
The auctioneer spoke softly, but also tried not to get too close to the bathtub.
Everyone in the hall immediately started buzzing, as this was the highest starting price for an auction item so far.
This alien female host backed up a few meters and continued her introduction.
"It can... transform into any shape, and it can be very... affectionate."
"Provoke it." Suddenly, a voice came through her earpiece.
The auctioneer hesitated, hurriedly covering her mouth: "I don't want to agree to do that!"
"If anything happens, I'll pay you three times your fee and compensate for any injuries you suffer."
"But..."
"I'll give you five times your fee. If you don't do it, I'll call Klara to take over the rest of the auction."
"Alright..."
