Chapter 9: Spar

It took a while for Alfie to explain his circumstances to Lucia. Ever so often he felt the need to reassure her that he wasn't making it up.

Lucia on the other hand didn't interrupt at all during his whole conversation, only nodding to assure she was listening.

"That's like the gist of it," Alfie said as he finished up.

He turned his head to look at Lucia, waiting for a response to his lengthy vent.

"Do you miss your old life?" Lucia asked

"A little... Yeah." Alfie replied honestly

"I mean besides the quality of life, I miss my parents," Alfie said longingly.

"The people that gave birth to you right?" Lucia asked

"Yeah, them."

"I was a pretty shitty son for dying on them so suddenly." Alfie mused

"I just hope they forgive me, you know."

Lucia, unsure of how to comfort Alfie, simply sat by his side for a while.

"There's some more stuff I gotta tell you about though," Alife admitted

"What is it?"

"It's something that revolves around the village. I can't exactly tell you here, it's better if we go to my office." Alfie said

"If it involves the village are you willing to tell the chief?" Lucia asked

"Yeah, I plan on telling you and him during leisure," Alfie said

"Today's leisure?"

"Yeah"

After Alfie's confirmation, Lucia stood up and walked about 20 paces away from Alfie.

"You didn't forget why we came here right?" Lucia asked

Alfie understood and promptly stood up with a dagger in hand.

"Almost forgot actually" Alfie lied.

Lucia only chucked at his little lie before rushing forward aiming a slash towards his lower neck.

Caught off guard Alfie was put into the defensive, using his free hand he hastily parried Lucia's strike.

Unbeknownst to him however Lucia had prepared a left hook straight to his liver in response.

Feeling the full force of her punch at a critical point, Alfie crumpled to the ground.

"After a parry always counter-strike or at least create some distance for yourself," Lucia advised

Alfie sat on the ground for a moment holding his stomach in pain. It took a minute before he was back up on his feet.

With huffs of breath, he replied, "Gimme a sec will you."

Assuming a stance, Alfie gripped his dagger looking much more prepared this time around for a confrontation.

"You sure you don't wanna rest some more hot shot?" Lucia provoked

Once again she pounced on the poor Alfie with another slash towards his neck.

Alfie chose to parry her strike again, only except this time he went in for a stab right after his parry.

Lucia, expecting this development, turned her body towards the side to evade the stab.

Using the momentum from her turn she swings her dagger to cut at Alfie's side.

Barely reacting to her counterattack, Alfie turned his body in an attempt to dodge.

But in his amaetur attempt, he lost his balance causing him to trip onto the ground.

Using her opponent's blunder she got on top of him, placing the dagger at the side of his throat.

"Gotcha"
