Chapter 177: Seriousness and Tricks
_________ POV Narration_________
The people at home went through a plethora of different reactions.
First, the unbridled fear that they felt when they saw that Beru was forced to stand by.
Then confusion set in as they realized that Beru had already cleared everyone away from the scene.
The villains had no way of knowing it was Beru, but he had warped everyone away the second the first villain had stepped into the streets.
The media managed to catch on after a few witnesses said that they were swallowed up by black mist and woke up at the other end of the city.
It made the public calm down to some extent.
'Even if Beru can't touch the villains, he is still protecting us.' To them, Beru was an honourable individual and the perfect role model.
So you can only guess how baffled they felt when the cameras filmed him taking out refreshments and simply laying down to watch the villains below him.
The news anchor didn't even know how to explain the situation properly.
The only reason the news helicopter wasn't shot down by the villains was that Beru kept sneakily warping off projectiles that the villains were throwing towards it.
The situation took a turn with Bakugo's destructive entrance, with no possible civilian casualties in sight, Dynamight was able to let loose in a way that not many had seen before.
His very entrance was made with his signature move, 'Hotwizer Impact'. As he decimated scores of villains with ease.
The water controlling villain did manage to scare some people tough, he had managed to suppress Bakugo to some extent, as the rest of the villains rushed in to further annoy the hero.
The civilians did relax once more upon seeing Shoto, the one hero that was best suited for this type of fight.
His quirk was extremely versatile and a very good fit when fighting several opponents at once. In this case, he was taking on an entire army alongside Bakugo whilst waiting for more heroes to mobilize.
Shoto froze and burned enemies left and right, he also somewhat invalidated the water-quirked villain's usefulness.
Bakugo quickly dried himself off with the heat of his own explosions, that coupled with the heat of Shoto's flames, started sweating more and more, which made his explosions more and more violent.
It was at this time that the rest of the top villains also decided to act, they couldn't just stand by and watch their troops get crushed by two heroes.
Morale had already taken a hit, so the leaders needed to act quickly if they were to keep things under wraps.
Well, not all of them cared, Wolfram used that chance to simply leave and start heading in the completely opposite direction.
No one stopped him, as they all were too occupied with fighting heroes. In fact, some even followed him.
'All of their attention should be focused on the villain attack... They won't have the time to stop me at all.' Wolfram's plan was coming together nicely.
He started heading towards a certain, more advanced part of the town with a small squad of villains.
The rest of the top brass of the Villain Association did notice Wolfram's departure, but they neither cared enough to do something about it nor did they want to.
A large man rushed towards Shoto, as he ran through the crowds and sent everyone in front of him flying.
"YOUUU!" That was all Shoto heard as he noticed the earth underneath him shake, and a large fist coming towards him from his side.
He quickly and almost mechanically raised his arm to block the strike, only to be sent flying towards Bakugo, who was forced to stop blowing villains up in order to catch his fellow hero.
"SHOTO! I'LL MAKE YOU PAY!" The villain shouted, almost rabid with madness.
A closer look at his face did maybe give away the reason for his anger. His face was burned and scarred greatly, circumstances told Beru that Shoto was definitely the one to deal that damage to the villain's face.
"Who the fuck is that? Half and Half bastard, do you know this guy or something?" Bakugo asked as Shoto slowly got up and looked forwards with a blank face.
"No idea..." Looking closely at Shoto, one could easily notice that his arm was almost broken. His arm guard was the only thing that kept his arm from breaking and it took an evident bend from stopping that hit.
"HOW DARE YO-" The villain was quickly engulfed in a wall of ice, as Shoto fully displayed the power of his quirk.
Bakugo scoffed as he kept pushing away the villains that approached him and Shoto.
However, it seemed that Shoto's ice wasn't enough to contain that man. The glacier covering him started violently shaking, filling with cracks and shattering almost instantly.
"Huh... You'd think that his punch would do more damage..." Bakugo said as he looked at the scene with an unusually serious look.
"How the fuck is your arm not broken?" Asked Bakugo with a confused face.
"... I think Beru had something to do with that... I felt a strange force pull me backwards just as that guy took me by surprise and punched me."
Both Bakugo and Shoto looked in the direction of the insectoid hero, who had found another resting place and settled down appropriately.
"I knew this was goddam sketchy... No way these extras could do anything against Beru. And them catching Toga is also rather hard to believe." Bakugo said as he regretted interrupting his vacation for this villain attack.
"To be fair, if you think about it, Beru would've already ruined the city if they had actually kidnapped Toga... So maybe it's better this way." Shoto said while sighing and covering the powerful villain in another layer of ice.
"PETTY TRICKS!" The burned villain shouted as he flexed his arms and broke all of the ice around him.
"... It was my mistake to go easy on you at first... I almost lost just like that, but you won't get a chance like that again." Shoto then put both of his hands forward as his body released both heat and cold.
Bakugo snorted as he rushed the crowd again, this time, his target was an obvious one. He propelled himself towards the water controlling villain that had suppressed him previously.
Using his speed, Dynamight spun in the air as he used his explosions to gain more and more momentum. In an instant, he was already onto the panicked long-haired villain, he brought his leg down with all of his momentum.
His heel passed by right in front of the man's face, as he cowered backwards, thinking that maybe he had managed to dodge the attack... But he wasn't even close.
Bakugo's leg cracked the pavement, as it turned into a dangerous-looking orange colour. The villains around didn't even get the chance to cover their eyes as another large explosion engulfed them.
Bakugo got up, as the smoke around him cleared. With an annoyed huff, he looked around the field.
Shoto's enemy, the powerful and intimidating large man was already done. His body was half charred and half frostbitten. A terrified expression was evident on the man's badly burnt face.
Shoto stood in front of him menacingly as the raging temperatures around his body made it hard for any villain to come too close.
"This feels like a joke! I guess we shouldn't have expected a lot from the vill-" Bakugo was forced to stop speaking as he rolled to the side.
In that instant, in his previous position appeared a black orb. It had a powerful pulling force that Bakugo barely resisted by blasting himself away.
"What the fuck?!" He asked as he managed to reach Shoto's side.
"More troublesome villains... This is annoying." Shoto spoke as he looked around, searching for a perpetrator.
At this point, most of the villains were either down or pretending to be down. The only ones left were the truly dangerous ones.
Shoto and Bakugo finally found the culprits for that strange attack... A group of 5 villains, each looking weirder than the last.
One of them had weird horns on his head, as well as metallic rods sticking out of his shoulders, they all sparked with electricity as his eyes deadpanned towards the heroes.
The second villain had a strange tail on his back, his face covered by a hood as he wiggled his metallic-looking appendage.
The third shook his shoulders as he pointed his arm towards the place where Bakugo was formerly standing.
A hole opened up in his palm and he attracted the strange orb back into himself. He flashed the heroes a large toothless smile.
The fourth one wasn't quite as intimidating, he seemed to be some kind of hipster with a peace sign and a necklace made out of flowers.
The fifth one seemed to be high on some substances, as his eyes wandered around randomly and a large stupid smile was present on his face.
His disorderly hair gave him an even more wild look.
"... This looks more and more annoying... BERU!" Bakugo shouted as he was starting to grow tired.
"What!?~" Beru shouted back as he raised his head a bit. The five villains also turned to look towards him.
"Can you get off your ass and actually do something?!" Bakugo's question was a good one.
The people at home also felt like asking the same question.
While watching Bakugo and Shoto steamroll villains with ease was entertaining, many could also tell that the two were somewhat reaching their limits.
"Can't~ What if they harm poor Toga?~" Beru's words ticked Bakugo off even more, as Toga also popped her head up from a nearby chair.
"THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN?! THERE'S BARELY ANY OF THEM LEFT? AND TOGA'S RIGHT BESIDES YOU!" The five villains sweated as they listened to the argument with confusion.
"Are we supposed to attack them now...?" Asked the tailed villain.
"... That seems rude, let's wait for them to finish." The hipster responded with a shrug.
"I also want a good fight before going to jail..." The horned one said while smiling.
"Yeah, that would be nice..." The villain with holes in his palms spoke while yawning.
Each member of the top brass had their own reasons for forming such an organisation.
Some were thrill-seekers, some had nothing to do with their lives, some simply wanted violence.
The large villain that Shoto fought wanted revenge, the water quirked villain wanted to cause some chaos.
By now, all of them realized that this wasn't going to end well for them. They also realised that Beru was just playing around with them.
The fact that Toga was sipping beer right beside him certainly helped them understand that a bit more.
"Gotta say... This one looked so much more fun on paper." The high villain spoke with a baked smile.
"I know right!"The hipster spoke up again as he also started yawning.
"Let's go out with a bang at least!" The tailed villain spoke as he prepared his stance.
Bakugo had also stopped swearing up at Beru, and Shoto was also getting ready to fight them.
Shoto had been on guard the entire time for attacks, but he then realised that the villains themselves seemed less violent than Bakugo.
As they spoke amongst each other and waited for Bakugo to also start paying attention to the fight.
*Sigh* '... Why are we doing this?' Shoto asked himself as he looked up at the sky and reflected on his life.
