Chapter 307: Chapter 307: I Could've Just Robbed You Directly

Kamijou Touma was stunned when he heard what Takumi said.

"You're looking for me?"

He was completely confused. He didn't seem to know Takumi at all.

"That's right, I'm looking for you."

"Come on, let's find a place to chat."

With that, Takumi turned and walked out with Bronya.

Touma hesitated for a moment, then followed along with Index.

Takumi had already paid for their groceries, which was a favor in itself. Still, he couldn't figure out what Takumi wanted. He didn't know the guy—unless he was from the magic side? But Takumi didn't look hostile, so Touma decided to just see what this was about.

Carrying the things he'd just bought, Touma and Index followed Takumi and Bronya into a nearby café. After ordering a cup of coffee, Takumi gestured for them to order whatever they liked.

Index, knowing nothing about politeness, was thrilled at the offer and quickly ordered a whole table full of food.

"Sorry for the trouble. May I ask your names? I'll return the money later."

Touma hurriedly apologized and promised to pay Takumi back.

"Don't worry about it. I'm Takumi, and this is my girlfriend, Bronya."

"The reason I came to you today is actually because of Index."

Touma froze at those words.

Index instantly became alert.

"You're here for the Index Librorum Prohibitorum?"

Was that really it? That must be what he wanted.

Touma's brow furrowed.

"Sorry, if that's what this is about, I'll have to refuse!"

He rejected the idea without hesitation. The 103,000 grimoires in Index's mind were far too dangerous. He couldn't just hand her over—not to a stranger who'd helped with one small issue.

"Relax. Hear me out first."

Takumi looked at him, exasperated. He hadn't even finished speaking. Why the rush?

Seeing Touma and Index's guarded faces, Takumi continued:

"Let me introduce myself again. I'm Takumi. And I'm not from this world."

He said it openly.

Touma and Index were both stunned.

"Huh? Are you serious?"

"Are you joking right now?"

Touma stared, thinking this guy must be delusional.

But the next moment, the café around them changed. The tables and chairs remained, but they were suddenly floating in outer space. The sun loomed beside them—but somehow, its heat was being blocked by an unknown energy.

Cold sweat broke out on Touma and Index's backs.

Touma quickly pinched himself.

Index didn't hesitate to bite Touma.

"Ow!!"

The pain was real—causing Touma to yelp.

"This... this isn't an illusion!"

Index gasped. Was this guy a Magic God? Why did he have such overwhelming power?

"I'm not a Magic God, okay? Don't lump me in with them."

"I just wanted to prove that I really am from another world."

"That's all. This isn't an illusion."

"Besides, if it were, your arm should've reacted."

With that, the scene shifted back to the café.

Seeing the surroundings return to normal, Touma and Index were dumbfounded. Was he truly from another world?

"The Magic Gods in your world still rely on magic energy. Even if they use something else, it doesn't step outside the scope of magic."

"You don't have this kind of power in your world, right?"

With those words, Takumi released a surge of Honkai energy.

Touma and Index were both shocked.

Index's eyes widened.

"That's not magic energy!"

"This power... is terrifying!"

She could clearly feel how powerful it was. As someone who held 103,000 grimoires in her mind, she knew this wasn't something recorded in any of them.

"Wanna try it out?"

"Use your arm to see if you can cancel it."

Takumi smiled brightly.

Touma paused.

"Give it a shot?"

He really wanted to try.

His arm had always been able to negate all forms of power—supernatural or magical. What about this?

Curious, he reached out and touched the energy.

Nothing happened.

The Honkai energy didn't dissipate at all.

It stayed just as it was.

This was the first time Touma had encountered such a situation. He was shaken.

"Now do you believe me?"

"Your arm is powerful, but it can't erase my power."

"Let's make a deal."

"I'll make a copy of the 103,000 grimoires in Index's mind."

"In return, I'll enhance your arm with a secondary seal—something you can control at will."

"It'll function like your instinct, something you can freely toggle."

"That way, you won't have to worry about your misfortune erasing even your own luck."

"What do you think?"

"Index, you don't want to be stuck sharing his bad luck forever, do you?"

"If he weren't unlucky, you could eat whatever you want without worrying about losing your meal because his wallet vanished."

Takumi smiled kindly at them and dissipated the energy in his hand.

Touma and Index were left speechless.

"You want the grimoires in my head?"

"But with power like yours, why do you even need them?"

Index didn't understand. Takumi seemed as strong as a Magic God. What use were those books to him?

"I already possess the Authority of Magic."

"Any magic I see once, I can basically understand and use."

"And I also wield magic systems from other worlds."

"Since I'm in your world now, naturally I want to collect its magical knowledge too."

"And you're basically a walking library."

"That's why I came to you."

"Of course, beyond helping Touma enhance his power, I can also help you gain magic energy."

"It's a shame, honestly."

"You have all that knowledge, but can't use any of it."

Takumi looked genuinely regretful.

Index's potential really was a shame to waste.
