Chapter 128: Alex's Celebration Banquet!
In the video, Anubis held a huge scythe, and no matter who his opponent was, he could end the battle in one stroke, making it look easy.
Logan saw the scene and slightly frowned. "Another powerful familiar that's good at using Mental Power tactics."
But unfortunately, Logan had never seen Anubis in person, so he couldn't get any detailed information about him.
The rankings on the score board kept changing, with many familiar tamers moving up and down the list.
Only Logan and his group of eight stayed firmly at the top.
Seeing this, the other familiar tamers around them all looked a bit helpless.
"These eight familiars are just too strong. They always take the top eight spots."
"It's not that big a deal. Just look at the top eight from last year. This year, they're only in the top twenty."
"The competition is really tough. I heard the parliament just announced that this year's Federal Familiar Rating Tournament is the last one that gives out the [Divine Fruit] reward."
"That explains it. Our adventurer association's vice president has always kept himself at the Master level just for this [Divine Fruit]."
"There's nothing we can do. One [Divine Fruit] can easily raise a B-level familiar to A-level strength. Who wouldn't want it?"
"Ugh, not everyone's lucky enough to be born into a noble family and get the support and resources from their clan. To get an A-level familiar on your own, you have to rely on the [Divine Fruit]."
While everyone was talking, Logan quietly listened.
He soon realized a painful truth: the [Divine Fruit] didn't really change the fate of commoner familiar tamers.
In fact, those fighting for the [Divine Fruit] in the top twenty-four on the rankings were all nobles.
"Hmph, nobles take the best resources and the biggest advantages. Commoners don't even have a chance to catch up through hard work." Logan sighed and turned to leave Snow Dragon Square.
As soon as they stepped onto the street, Holt's familiar face appeared before Logan.
"Hey! Logan, my friend, it's been a while!" Holt grabbed Logan around the neck and laughed loudly. "You really did it! You beat that ghost princess and even came in first in the ranking match. You owe me a drink!"
Logan happened to want to get some information from Holt, so he smiled at Yelena and the others beside him and turned back to say, "Holt, you're underestimating me. With our friendship, we should at least have a barrel of drinks!"
"A barrel?" Hearing Logan's bold offer, Holt burst into laughter. "Okay, then. The acting chairman just wants to treat the top 24 competitors to a dinner. We'll meet at the council hall tonight. No leaving until we're all drunk!"
Logan happily accepted Holt's invitation and gave Yelena and the others a little signal, getting them to agree as well.
After Holt left, Yelena stepped closer to Logan and said with concern, "Alex might be the one who killed General Bell. Are you sure it's safe to go to his place?"
Logan's expression turned cold. "This is a perfect chance to meet Alex alone. Even if it's a trap, it's worth taking the risk."
After thinking for a moment, he still sent a message to Natalia, just to be safe.
At that moment, Evelynna and Fischl also finished their day's competition.
They walked up to the group and told Logan about Alex's invitation.
It turned out that, besides Holt, there were other council members waiting around Snow Dragon Square, personally inviting the top 24 familiar tamers.
This kind of attention made Logan feel something was off. "Since we've all been invited, let's go together."
Evelynna rolled her eyes at Logan and pushed past Sawako, wrapping her arm around his right side.
Yelena stood on Logan's left, secretly feeling sorry for Sawako, but then she felt her body shake and was pushed aside.
Looking back, she saw Fischl had done the same as Evelynna and was now holding Logan's left arm.
With two other women grabbing Logan in front of her, Yelena's face turned cold. "Are you two looking for a fight?"
Sawako slowly got up from the ground, her eyes full of killing intent.
Fischl, seeing this, said coldly, "I was just protecting him."
Hearing that, Sawako and Yelena both rolled their eyes.
Evelynna, standing on Logan's right, gave Fischl a thumbs-up. She couldn't believe someone could lie so confidently — Logan was already so strong, who needed protection?
Fischl felt the hostility from the girls and tried to explain again: "The two of you are too weak."
When Yelena and Sawako heard that, they were about to start a fight right then and there.
Thankfully, Logan stopped them in time, avoiding a pointless fight.
After that conversation, Logan realized that Fischl really didn't understand social manners.
As they walked toward the council hall, he asked, "Do you really think I need protection?"
Fischl walked beside him, with no expression. "The council members who came to invite us each had over a hundred familiar tamers hiding in the shadows."
Upon hearing this, Logan frowned, feeling both surprised and angry.
Because the crowd in Snow Dragon Square was too complicated, his soul power couldn't tell who the enemies were. But Fischl had managed to spot them.
"How did you find them?" Logan didn't hold back, asking curiously.
"By using crows. All the pigeons on Snow Dragon Square were taken over by my crows." Fischl answered in a mechanical way, showing no emotion at all.
Logan glanced at the girl beside him. She was tall and slim, with a nice figure — but her personality was too cold.
As for crows, Logan instinctively looked up at the rooftops on both sides of the street.
Indeed, there were quite a few sparrows and pigeons perched high up, watching them closely.
Logan looked at the birds with curiosity, and soon, a status screen popped up in front of him.
[Race: Shadow Crow (Clone)]
[Stat: Darkness]
[Ranking: A-level 2 stars]
[Stage: Master 5 stars]
[Talents: Easy to ignore, Shadow Stamina, Flight]
[Skills: Shadow Clone, Shadow Merging, Shadow Possession, Weaken Will, Mind Invasion, Mind Illusion, Mind Network]
[stat: Power 125, Stamina 125, Mind 348, Agility 315]
…
After seeing the information about the crows, Logan instinctively frowned.
This was like a perfect scout familiar. It could split into countless clones, control the birds, and share all the clones' minds. No wonder they could spot the people the council had hidden.
"You really are full of surprises." Logan said honestly, praising Fischl.
"You're still way better than me." Fischl replied coldly.
Soon, the group arrived at the council hall.
The large room, which had been a round-table meeting room before, was now turned into a banquet hall.
Each familiar tamer was guided by beautiful maids to their seats.
Logan and his group sat right in the center, and instantly drew the attention of many eyes.
Logan used his soul power to sense for a moment and quickly realized who those eyes belonged to — they were all familiar tamers who had taken part in the ranking match today.
Even more, he could easily feel the hostility and anger behind those looks.
"It seems like Alex invited us here on purpose to make enemies for us." Logan sighed and ignored the hostile looks around him.
"Are you not going to explain?" Evelynna's voice came up, full of confusion.
Logan shook his head when he heard that. "No need. We're here, and we're already going to be hated by other familiar tamers. Instead of explaining and making them feel better, why not just enjoy the special treatment and make them even more desperate?"
After saying that, Logan simply lifted his legs and crossed them over the banquet table, then leaned back comfortably in Evelynna's arms.
Evelynna was taken by surprise and her face turned slightly red. "Can't you at least think about the situation?"
Logan closed his eyes and leaned into Evelynna's chest, enjoying the feeling. "Do you need a reason to make enemies?"
Evelynna was speechless for a moment, then rolled her eyes and gently massaged Logan's temples to help him relax.
Fischl watched Logan's bold behavior with a look of confusion.
But soon, she seemed to understand his intention and started massaging his legs too.
The other familiar tamers, seeing Logan being so reckless in the council hall, began to talk among themselves.
"Hmph, he just saved a few survivors in the beast tide. Who does he think he is, acting like that?"
"This high schooler has no manners at all. I'll teach him a lesson later!"
"Shh, this is the council hall. The acting chairman will deal with him soon."
"I hope he lives until the elimination round. If I meet him then, I'll break his familiar for sure."
"Exactly! Break his familiar and shut him up!"
As the noise grew, the atmosphere in the hall became more and more chaotic.
Logan, who was just relaxing, finally got annoyed. "Can you all just shut up? Show some respect, will you?"
The others were stunned by his words.
They stared at Logan, their eyes shaking with fear.
Suddenly, one of the familiar tamers pointed at Logan and shouted, "You're sitting there with two girls, and you're calling us rude?!"
Logan glanced at the man who insulted him and sneered: "None of the masters here are stopping me. Who are you to tell me what to do?"
Before he finished, he coldly looked around at the staff. "This is really boring. You'd better get this noisy guy out of here, or I'm leaving."
Logan's threat was clear. He had intentionally caused trouble at the banquet, just to see how Alex would handle it.
