Angel Monarch

Chapter 517: Asgard

Freyja looked like an absolutely perfect being. Her pure white, shiny skin with hints of blush on her cheeks created a natural charming attraction towards any living creature. The goddess's smile seemed flawless and genuine, revealing nothing but the joy in her heart.

She stepped closer after introducing herself. The goddess wasn't a giantess like Astrid, but she stood well over 2 meters. Her form was in perfect balance between voluptuous and petite.

Any person would fall in love with her just from a single glance, yet nobody in their group seemed to care about Freyja's appearance. This surprised the goddess, since she was used to people gasping and fainting upon witnessing her beauty.

"Uh... Why do you look so underwhelmed?" She asked awkwardly.

The group just rolled her eyes and chuckled, which annoyed Freyja, yet her pleasant smile didn't break. A few seconds later, Melinda stepped forward and explained...

"Not to offend you, Ms. Freyja, but we live with the Last Angel and a World Tree. Compared to them, you look... Above average!"

David face-palmed near Melinda, while everyone else just continued laughing. It wasn't possible not to get offended by being called 'above average' when you have a god complex.

However, he had given credit to Freyja. The goddess was fuming with anger, yet her smile stayed firm, albeit much less genuine.

She nodded gracefully and said, "That sounds intriguing. I would love to meet them both. I'm sure we would get along!"

There was a hint of offensiveness in her voice, and she obviously felt jealous. But nobody in the group actually cared about Freyja's opinion. They had a mission, and arguing with her wouldn't get them closer to their destination.

"Anyway, let's get going before that unpleasant storm comes back," said Freyja while mounting the cat-drawn sled.

The silver beasts also stood up straight and began drawing the chariot. They weren't going fast, so everyone could keep up.

"Do you know who that fucking storm belongs to?" asked Yvonne, her voice full of scorn and anger.

Freyja glanced at the tall woman with a hint of disgust in her sky-blue eyes. She didn't seem to appreciate cursing. Nevertheless, she answered Yvonne's question.

"Yes, I know him. Or the person he once was... The Wild Hunt, that's what people called him. He collected the corpses of soldiers and used them as his personal hunting party. He could also control the air and freeze his surroundings...

"He was mostly harmless before, but Madness got to him while locked inside our Pocket Realm. He became a mindless Abomination and killed many of my friends... Now that he's freed, The Wild Hunt will terrorize these lands until he dies!"

Everybody stayed silent after hearing Freyja's words. They didn't expect a sad story, which was stupid on their part. The creatures they fought inside the storm couldn't have been born from a cheerful story.

Throughout their journey, no one felt comfortable speaking. Luckily, luckily they only needed to travel for about ten minutes. As Transcended, their average walking speed reached well over a few hundred kilometers an hour, so they nearly reached the shore when Freyja stopped.

They stood on a tall mountaintop, staring down at a bright valley covered with blooming flowers and green trees. The surrounding harsh weather seemed to outright ignore the valley, as if the cold air wasn't allowed down there.

Rivers flowed along the grassy plains and stopped at a beautiful city, creating a wide moat around it. Large stone houses connected to zigzagging streets, leading up to a majestic castle with tall silver towers that glinted under the late evening sunlight.

Familiar creatures flew all around the castle and city. Each giant woman had golden feathered wings and wore intricately carved golden armor... The Valkyrie!

There were also regular people walking the streets. Strangely, everybody looked either like a cutthroat or like a powerful warrior. None of the citizens seemed weak or Non-Evolved.

Freyja got off her sled and glanced at the gathered group with an excited and proud grin. She spread her arms wide and said, "Welcome, honored guests! Welcome to the Norse Pantheon's home! Welcome to Asgard!"

Just as she spoke, three Valkyries landed beside her. They all took off their helmets simultaneously and kneeled before Freyja in submission and respect.

"Welcome home, Your Highness!" said the lead Valkyrie in a weirdly deep voice.

Each Valkyrie looked the same. They had pale skin, long braided golden hair, golden eyes and giant, voluptuous bodies. Their bodies were awfully similar to Astrid's, but there were small imperfections on their faces, which Astrid didn't have.

Astrid herself felt sick when staring at these Valkyries. They looked impure and disgusting in her eyes, which meant they all possessed Marks of Judgement.

Recently, Hestia told them a bit more about the Marks. For example, while someone's soul was affected by the Mark, they couldn't reproduce.

When they asked why, Hestia explained it in detail. When the Dark Prism was first created, many people would procreate in the same cells, then use their offspring to escape, since the prison wouldn't recognize people without Marks as prisoners.

This meant anybody with a Mark came from the Dark Prism and wasn't some prisoner's offspring.

After hearing the lead Valkyrie's words, Freyja's usual charming smile spread across her face.

"Good to see you too, Captain Thora! How was everything while I was gone? Did those two behave themselves?"

The two Valkyries kneeling beside Captain Thora snorted and snickered, while their leader glanced up at Freyja with a small smirk.

"If you mean the Commanders, you know full well how they act while you're gone. Hopefully, they've stopped bickering by now, which means..."

Freyja sighed while pinching the bridge of her nose and shaking her head in annoyance.

"It means they went from verbal fight to actual battle... Whatever, until they use the arena, it's not a problem!" she declared with a wide smile, but when a frown appeared on Captain Thora's face, Freyja sighed again.

"They aren't using the arena Odin made? Then I guess they didn't even sign Tyr's contract either..."

The Captain shook her head, while Freyja climbed back on top of her chariot.

"Captain Thora," said Freyja as she glanced between the Valkyries and the guests. "Take them to Odin's Hall. He's expecting them... Sorry everyone, but I need to beat up my Commanders!"

With that, the silver cats burst into movement and the next second Freyja disappeared, leaving the three Valkyries with the group.

They all rose from their knees and looked over the ambassador group with a mix of intrigue and boredom. None of them seemed impressed by the group's strength... at least not at first...

However, once the battle maniacs—Lucy, Yvonne and Kim—noticed their scornful looks, they began grinning in excitement. A shiver went down the Valkyrie's spine from Lucy's deadly aura and Kim's bright green, petrifying eyes... They didn't really care about Yvonne...

The tensions became palpable between the two groups, so Melinda and David, the levelheaded leaders, stepped in.

David walked before the giantess trio and reached out his hand with a calm, confident expression.

"Nice to meet you. I heard Freyja say your name is Captain Thora. I'm David, and we're the representatives of—"

Before he could've finished, one of the Valkyries standing beside the Captain reached out and lifted David to eye level by his armored neck.

Suddenly, everyone burst into action, and a moment later a dozen different weapons were held to each Valkyrie's neck. There was also a strong, golden shield raised around David's body, keeping him safe from any harm.

The Valkyrie holding David's neck didn't care though. She bared her teeth angrily as she said, "Don't you dare refer to Her Highness without honorifics! It's disrespectful enough that you tried touching us, but we won't let you mock our goddess!"

"Wow, these big girls are more insane than I first assumed!" said Lucy with a light chuckle.

A second passed in this stalemate, but soon a line of blood ran from each Valkyrie's nose. After another second, they began coughing blood too, and the one holding David dropped him to the ground.

"What's this?!" asked Captain Thora, while staring up at the group, but they all just glanced to the side at a specific person.

Gentle steps approached the trio. The snow crunched below the feet of a delightful woman with whitish-blonde hair and blue-green eyes. Light silver armor glinted on her near-perfect body.

A hateful smile stretched across her lips as she stared down at the three kneeling giantesses.

"I think you didn't judge our power well. This isn't the shitty, weak Earth you left millennia ago! You won't bully us humans anymore! Our leader, the Last Angel, will keep humanity safe!"

Upon hearing that title, a shiver ran down all three Valkyries' spines. They didn't care about the blood flowing from their noses and mouths.

They all remembered the strength of the Angels and Rehael's Prophecy... A prophecy made more than ten thousand years ago...

Nobody on Earth should know about it. They never revealed the prophecy to humans, which means they aren't lying... The Last Angel finally arrived, and she'll bring the destruction of reality with her!

Melinda squatted before the trio, grinning at the pure terror in their expressions.

"We don't really need such useless guides. I assume that since Odin, the Allfather, is your leader, he lives in that big fucking castle... I'm sure we'll get there on our own! You can take a little nap while we'll have our audience!"

All three Valkyries' vision went blurry as Melinda spoke, and a second later, they all passed out in a puddle of their blood.
