Chapter 261: Journey to Lugen
The best day, Riven returned to the tower with Quin, but Quin stood a good meter away from the tower.
Riven looked at him and thought he was kind of overreacting. When the door opened, Eon walked out with a magic staff.
She stood at the door, her gaze locked with Quin. The air became tense; Riven took a few steps back.
"Eon, looking good," Quin said.
"Save it," she said, then pointed the staff at him.
He raised his hands. "Let's not do that here, Eon. This is the academy, a battle here would destroy the entire school," he said.
"And you believe that I won't fight because of that?" she asked.
"Come on, Eon, I didn't come to fight, and I know you don't want to fight as well. I just wanted to tell you something very important.
I saw Lara," he said. Eon's eyes widened when she heard that, and she slowly lowered her staff.
"Are you serious?" she asked.
"Yes, I did. She is working for Sahire and the demons. She still hates the kingdom, she blames them for what happened," Quin said.
"She should. The kingdom did what they did, and they deserve the fate they get. What I do not understand is why you stand by the kingdom so much.
I don't care who Lara works for, as long as she is still alive, that's all that matters," Eon said.
"You can't be serious, she is working with demons," Quin said.
"Yeah, I heard, and I do not care," Eon said, her eyes turning serious.
"I see. Lara aside, I am happy to see you, Eon," he said.
"I am not. It's taking every bit of will in my body not to attack you, and I only did this for the kid. So make sure you give him what he wants. I'm done here," she said and walked in, shutting the door behind her.
Quin stood there, he took a deep breath, and then looked at Riven. "You did your part, regardless of how it turned out, we had a deal," he said.
Riven could see how downcast Quin was, and this was the first time he had seen him this way. But he didn't really care about that, he could now create his club, and that was all that mattered.
[...]
"I can't believe you actually got a club," Noel said as he walked beside Riven.
"Well, we did, and now we get to leave the academy and do what we need to," Riven said.
"So who and who are part of this club?" he asked.
"Well, honestly everyone in the two teams are part of the club," Riven said.
"Wait, what?" Noel asked.
"Well, everyone heard about it, and all of them wanted to be a part of it. Well, except Lance. He has been doing well, but we still gave each other space as expected," Riven said.
"Wait, so you mean we will go on all missions outside together?" Noel asked.
"No, that's not possible. Each of us has special activities in the academy, and as of yesterday, Liana, Mia, Robert, and Chloe had something to do with the seniors, a class of some sort.
I don't really understand what it is, but they can't come because of it. The elves are off doing what they do best, practice," Riven said.
"That leaves me, you, Sofia, and Jack," Noel stated.
"Exactly, and both of them will be coming with us for our first exploration outside the academy, fully funded by the academy," Riven said. They made it to the gate of the academy; Jack and Sofia were already there.
"Riven," she called out, a genuine smile on her face, something that she didn't have before. She came to him and stood beside him.
"Hey, bros," Jack greeted. He turned and looked outside the academy.
"Can't believe we get to do this," he said.
"Well, we do, and we will be heading to the city Lugen," Riven said.
They walked through the gate and headed for the capital.
"So what method are we using?" Jack asked. "Teleportation?"
"No, there is no way for the academy to permit students like us to use teleportation when it wasn't an emergency," Sofia stated.
"Yeah, Sofia is right. Part of the reason why we are doing this is to gather real-life experience and learn about society. Using teleportation and cutting right to the place kills the whole point," Riven said.
He pulled out something from his ring, it was four crystals. He handed one to each of them.
"This is from Quin. Keep it in your rings or on your person at all times. If anything should happen to us, we can crack it and it will signal him," Riven explained.
"So what exactly are we looking for in Lugen?" Jack asked.
"I heard from my father that it's a nice tourist spot, and it has a popular dungeon as well, a C-ranked dungeon by the kingdom's standard," Sofia said.
"The dungeon is my reason for going there. It's been a while since I raided a dungeon," Riven said.
"You seriously want to spend your time outside the academy inside a dungeon?" Jack asked.
"Well yeah, and even if we don't head to the dungeon, Lugen is closer to the border of the kingdom, which makes it closer to one of the largest forests in the kingdom, the Dark Thorn Forest," Riven said.
"The forest is one of the major reasons people go there. It's believed that a village of fairies lives in that forest, as well as spirits.
Many people try to enter the forest and find the spirits and fairies, but they can't even go deep, as the forest holds a lot of mystical beasts, a lot of them," Sofia said.
"For someone that came from a beastman tribe that stays in a similar forest to that one, you sure know little," Noel said.
"My tribe values strength. Only a few people choose to learn rather than train," Jack said.
"Well, you better learn. Exams are coming up," Noel said.
"Don't worry about that, I'm reading a lot," Jack said.
