An Extra's POV: My Three Fiancees Hate Me

Chapter 259: Notification

"If she is capable of this, why are there no more humans living longer, and why do places like the empire not come and take her magic?" Riven asked.

"A few reasons. One, the empire might be an empire, but do not forget that they win us in number and not necessarily skill. You have me, for instance, then the queen and the king.

All the dukes are elites as well. Even Eon herself is a terrifying figure, and that's to mention a few, so the empire won't risk it even if they knew about it.

Second is that no one can really replicate what she did. It takes constant mental calculation, fixing, and maintenance for her spell to work.

Something like this is what only a seventh circle and above mage would be capable of doing. And mages of that level have pride; they want to create their own magic or modify already existing ones, and it's impossible to modify her magic because she always specifically makes it hard to do.

Also, being confined to one spot your entire life isn't really fun. Not everyone can have the type of commitment that Eon has, and that's why it hasn't and can't be taken from her," Quin explained.

"I see. I'll be going back tomorrow. She asked that I come. As for leaving the tower, she isn't even thinking about it.

She said if you want her out so bad, come in and meet her," Riven said.

"Nope, no can do. You see, there are very few things that can kill me, Riven, and being inside her tower under her space is one.

Inside her library, she is the ultimate being, a god even. If I went there and she chose to fight, it would be a complete fifty-fifty," Quin said.

"She's that strong?" Riven thought.

"That's fine then, I'll keep reporting to you," Riven said and left.

[....]

The spirit zone class held the next day, and they would have to turn in their report of their understanding of the spirit zone.

Riven had worked on his own after going home every day and also practiced using his spirit zone. Thankfully, his blacksmithing had helped him train his mana and spirit zone, so there was a good amount of progress.

They went to the class and turned in their reports first, and then it was finally time for the presentation.

The instructor stood there scanning the entire class with her eyes.

"Alright, today we will be showing how much progress you have all made.

I'll grade you with my mouth and tell you if you have a future here or not. Now, you can become a perfect mage or battle mage without this class.

This class is only for those that wish to understand the nitty-gritty of the spirit zone. It's not for everyone, and everyone has a choice when it gets to it.

But as you have a choice, I also have my choice, and many of you will not be making it through the class. I'll remove you on my own if you are too bad at this."

After she said that, a noise erupted in the room. Everyone had suffered to make even the slightest progress with their spirit zone. It wasn't easy; they had to grind for hours and also write that humongous report.

Not adding the fact that they also had their other classes too. It wasn't fair. But she stood there, not caring about what they had to say. She waited until all the noise died down and then spoke.

"For the first presentation, we will have the golden set, the top ten of the first years. They have managed to show the best this class has to offer, so they'll be the first and also set the standard," she said calmly.

"So who from them will be coming out first?" she asked.

Chloe raised her hands, and the instructor picked her. She walked out and got to the center of the stage. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and then expanded her spirit zone.

It exploded out of her and stretched far beyond the limit set. She quickly stopped it and reduced it all the way to the limit.

Everyone was stunned right away. What had just happened had shown them a glimpse into the size of her spirit zone.

They started talking about it all around, shocked at her talent. Riven even overheard some discussions.

"That's real talent, not what that rank one has. No one is even questioning how a first year can be that strong."

"Yeah, talent should be believable, not downright crazy," another said.

Riven let out a sigh and continued paying attention to Chloe.

She started compressing her spirit zone as much as she could. She did it comfortably until it was half the size, and then she started having some issues, but she kept at it and kept reducing it.

She went until it was only a few meters in size. Even the instructor was shocked. Everyone was stunned by it.

[The one loved by chaos has been activated.]

Suddenly, Riven saw a notification that made his stomach churn. He began looking around in a panic for what could have triggered it, but nothing came.

He still didn't rest and kept looking around, yet there was nothing. He couldn't stop worrying. That title had only triggered at times when there was extreme danger.

'What triggered it? I need to know what it was. Could it be that another second has started? I've lost the flow of the story; I don't even know what's what anymore.'

Yet, even after worrying about it for more and more minutes, he still couldn't figure out what it was.

His turn to present came, and he did it, also stunning the students and the teachers. Though his own called for more hate, when someone can't reach you, they begin to hate you, and that was exactly what happened to Riven. But he didn't care; he was worried about the notification.
