The much-anticipated and closely-watched showdown turned into an unexpected rout, as the Kansas City Chiefs mercilessly dominated the Oakland Raiders. Once again, it was proven that matchups between these division rivals are always full of surprises.

Just as no one predicted the Raiders' shocking game-winning upset six weeks ago to end their four-game losing streak, no one expected the Chiefs to come roaring back today, annihilating the Raiders to end their six-game losing streak.

The room fell into stunned silence.

MVP?

A rookie entering the Most Valuable Player race? That was unheard of.

Historically, rookies are considered in their own category, competing for honors like Offensive Rookie of the Year or Defensive Rookie of the Year. To even suggest a rookie—especially a running back—could be a regular-season MVP contender was unprecedented.

The press room buzzed with murmurs, the air thick with astonishment. The questioner seemed to have dropped a live grenade, and even Lance was momentarily sidelined in the frenzy of chatter.
