Chapter 458: Tripartite Alliance (Part 2)
Donnie shifted his posture and said, "Since that's the case, our negotiations have officially broken down!"
After pausing for a moment, Donnie looked at Amadei Giannini and said, "Since this is the case, Mr. Giannini, it seems you will be able to keep your farm!"
Amadei Giannini was arguably the weakest participant in this negotiation, as his vulnerabilities were the most evident.
Upon hearing Donnie's words, he immediately started to play the peacemaker role.
First, he persuaded Donnie Block, then Anthony Rothschild, and eventually, Amadei Giannini's efforts did have some effect.
Donnie decided to take a step back and said, "For Mr. Giannini's sake, I'm willing to retreat a step and proceed according to what Cameron and Maurice had agreed on. But one thing, when we complete this plan, if there is a conflict of interest between us, the decision should prioritize the Block Family!"
Anthony Rothschild gestured and said, "But we can't keep retreating endlessly. The Rothschild Family can step back twice, but on the third time, Block must back down to Rothschilds!"
Donnie nodded and said, "Alright, I can accept that!"
Seeing that Donnie Block and Anthony Rothschild reached a consensus, Amadei Giannini finally breathed a sigh of relief, as everyone was no longer in direct opposition.
"So, what we need to do next is convince the White House and the Treasury Department in the shortest time possible, right?"
Amadei Giannini was more concerned about this matter.
Donnie smiled and said, "Leave President Coolidge to me. Although I can't guarantee that we can achieve this policy in the shortest time, I have greater hope than you two. I trust neither of you has an issue with this?"
Anthony Rothschild and Amadei Giannini exchanged a glance and ultimately agreed with Donnie's suggestion.
As for the Treasury Department and Congress, that task was left to the two of them to tackle!
When they finally finished discussing this matter, Anthony Rothschild, Nate Rothschild, and Amadei Giannini left Donnie's estate.
Donnie returned to his study, where the ease on his face from a moment ago had disappeared.
His expression had become somewhat grave.
"Boss, is there something wrong?"
Henry Dale, who had just been at the scene, knew the process of Donnie's negotiations with the others.
"Let me ask you, in this matter, what benefit can the Rothschild family gain?"
Henry Dale pondered for a moment and said, "From the current situation, they are most likely to gain control of the San Francisco Freedom Bank, because only the Italian Bank is willing to relinquish that interest, so that's why Rothschild cooperates with them."
Donnie smiled and said, "But have you ever considered, previously when Rothschild cooperated with Morgan against the Italian Bank, what benefit could they gain?"
Henry Dale's expression changed at this moment, "The most likely is also the San Francisco Freedom Bank!"
Donnie nodded and said, "Precisely, whether it's cooperating with Morgan or Giannini, for Rothschild, the ultimate goal is to gain the San Francisco Freedom Bank. So why would Rothschild betray Morgan then?"
Henry Dale thought for a moment and said, "Three possibilities: First, Rothschild knows something we don't, so they are more assured of standing on Giannini's side in this clash."
Stopping here, Henry Dale didn't immediately mention the other two possibilities but elaborated on this one: "But this possibility, too, has many issues. Firstly, what trump card does Amadei Giannini have that we don't know, making the Rothschild Family sure that Amadei Giannini has a greater chance of winning when facing their cooperation with Morgan?"
"Regarding our entry, we stepped in after they began collaborating."
"The second possibility is that Morgan's terms are excessively harsh, to the point where Rothschild believes it is against their interests, thus deciding to shift cooperation to Giannini. In any case, compared to Morgan, Amadei Giannini is at a disadvantage, which allows Rothschild to negotiate more effectively with him."
"The third possibility is that they have a deeper cooperation we are unaware of. Only in this case, after Giannini defeats Morgan, can Rothschild obtain more benefits, surpassing just acquiring the San Francisco Bank."
At this point, Henry Dale's expression changed: "For instance, after defeating Morgan, they may directly turn against us, just like what you mentioned before, aiming their sights on our Venus Bank's business in Hollywood!"
Donnie nodded slightly and said, "That's exactly what I think, except none of them anticipated us suddenly appearing in Washington, disrupting all their previous plans!"
Henry Dale said, "Boss, if it truly is the third possibility, then our collaboration with them is indeed very risky, after all, our agreement with the Rothschild is not legally binding!"
Donnie leaned back on the sofa, pondering, "Yes, if Rothschild were to break our verbal agreement, there's nothing we could do!"
